Adon (biceps) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday.

The right-hander landed on the injured list in late August due to a biceps strain, and he won't be eligible to return for the final stretch of the season. Adon made one start in eight appearances with the Nationals this year and posted a 6.75 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 6:4 K:BB over 10.2 innings.

The Nationals optioned Brzykcy to Triple-A Rochester on Friday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

The rookie reliever is clearing out to make space on the roster for Trevor Williams, who is back from the injured list to start Friday's game against the Cubs. Brzykcy was roughed up for nine runs over 5.2 innings during his brief first stint in the big leagues.

The Cubs designated Armstrong for assignment Friday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

The Cubs claimed Armstrong after he had been jettisoned from the Cardinals' 40-man roster and the veteran reliever will now go through the waiver process again. Armstrong yielded four runs with a 4:4 K:BB over 7.1 frames during his brief time with the Cubs.

The Cubs activated Wesneski (foreram) from the 15-day injured list Friday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Wesneski has been sidelined since late July with a right forearm strain but has been cleared to return after making four rehab appearances with Triple-A Iowa. He's pegged for a multi-inning relief role with the Cubs down the stretch.

Hader picked up the save in a win over the Angels on Thursday, striking out one over a perfect ninth inning.

Hader entered the contest with a two-run lead in the bottom of the ninth and fanned Logan O'Hoppe on three sliders before needing just four pitches to retire the final two batters. It was the southpaw's 32nd save of the campaign and he's now recorded at least one strikeout in six consecutive appearances. It was also a nice bounce-back performance for Hader after being charged with his third blown save of the campaign in his previous outing. He now carries a 2.57 ERA in September to go along with a 9:2 K:BB and three saves.

Suarez did not factor into the decision in a loss to the Astros on Thursday, allowing one unearned run on three hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out five.

Suarez allowed just two walks and a single over the first three frames before Yainer Diaz reached on a fielding error to open the fourth. The veteran lefty would then see a run come home after surrendering back-to-back singles, but he was able to retire the next six batters in succession to complete five innings for the first time on the campaign. Suarez looked solid in his second start this season and he's now recorded five strikeouts in back-to-back appearances. He'll look to secure his second win of the season next week when the Angels travel to Chicago to take on the White Sox.

Romero (7-3) allowed a run on one hit and one walk over two-thirds of an inning, taking the loss Thursday versus the Pirates.

Romero put two runners on base in the eighth inning, and Ryan Fernandez allowed one of them to score after he entered the game. Over six innings in September, Romero has allowed two runs on six hits and three walks, a slight fade in performance from his level throughout the year. He's now at a 2.76 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 51:15 K:BB through 58.2 innings while adding a save, eight blown saves and 30 holds.

Chapman earned a save against the Cardinals on Thursday, allowing one hit in one scoreless inning.

Chapman entered in the bottom of the ninth inning with a one-run lead and gave up a leadoff single to Brendan Donovan. However, Donovan didn't advance any further, as Chapman retired the next three batters on just four pitches. Chapman has converted each of his past four save chances, though this was just the second time in that span that he hasn't allowed a run.

Ortiz allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out seven batters over six innings in a no-decision against St. Louis on Thursday.

Ortiz held the Cardinals scoreless over the first three innings before St. Louis put up a run in the fourth and another in the sixth. The right-hander notched his sixth quality start of the campaign, which is more impressive when considering that only 14 of his 36 appearances have come as a starter. Ortiz also tied his season high with seven punchouts Thursday, a mark he's now achieved three times.

Morgan (3-0) walked one in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the extra-inning win over the Twins on Thursday.

Morgan has quietly been reliable late in the year with a 13-inning scoreless streak over his last nine appearances. He has a 12:4 K:BB in that span. Morgan's been lost in the shuffle for an excellent Cleveland bullpen, but he's done his part in a multi-inning role with a 1.64 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 32:10 K:BB while adding just one hold over 38.1 innings this season.
