The Twins outrighted Davis to Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.

The transaction clears 26-man and 40-man roster spots for the return of Pablo Lopez (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list. Davis has surrendered a whopping 24 runs (22 earned) over 11 innings at the big-league level this season between the Dodgers and Twins.

Fairbanks allowed two earned runs on two hits and struck out one across one inning Thursday against the Guardians.

Fairbanks entered the game in the ninth inning with a four-run lead and gave up home runs to the first two batters he faced. He settled in to help the Rays secure the win, but his performance has been a mixed bag lately. Fairbanks has an impressive 23:0 K:BB across his last 16.1 innings, but he's allowed six home runs (3.3 HR/9) in that span.

Seymour will work as a bulk reliever behind opening pitcher Grffin Jax in Friday's game against the Guardians, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Seymour worked as a multi-inning reliever to begin his major-league tenure but has made traditional starts in both of his last two appearances. He'll likely take over in the second or third inning of Friday's game once Jax exits the contest and will be the Rays pitcher most likely to factor into any decision. As a traditional starter, Seymour has allowed one earned run with a 16:2 K:BB across 10 innings.

Romano (finger) threw a bullpen session Thursday, MLB.com reports.

After playing long toss Wednesday, Romano is continuing his throwing progression amid his recovery from right middle finger inflammation. The 32-year-old right-hander expects to pitch again this season, though Romano has a calamitous 8.23 ERA for the year and will likely work low-leverage situations if he returns in 2025.

Sewald (shoulder) began a rehab assignment with High-A West Michigan on Thursday, Emily Waldon of Baseball America reports.

Sewald landed on the injured list in mid-July and has been throwing for around a month. Due to his long layoff, he may need to make several rehab appearances before being activated.

Garrett (elbow) began a rehab assignment with Double-A Binghamton on Thursday.

Garrett made his first rehab appearance Thursday and struck out two while allowing one hit across one inning. He has only been sidelined since Aug. 25, so Garrett should be able to return after a couple outings in the minors.

Jax will serve as the Rays' opening pitcher in Friday's game against the Guardians, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Jax has worked primarily in high-leverage spots all season, and that has continued since he joined the Rays at the trade deadline. However, he's struggled to a 7.20 ERA and 1.80 WHIP across 10 innings with Tampa Bay, so working as an opener could prove to be a bit of a reset for the right-hander. Jax will likely only work an inning or two before giving way to Ian Seymour, who is expected to work in bulk relief.

Holderman secured the save Thursday against the Dodgers, allowing one hit and striking out one in two-thirds of an inning.

It's possible that primary closer Dennis Santana was unavailable after working each of the past two days for the Pirates, which opened the door for Holderman to collect his first save of the year and the third of his career. However, Holderman shouldn't be expected to see many more save chances down the stretch. Over 22.1 innings, the right-hander has a 7.66 ERA, 1.93 WHIP and 15:14 K:BB with two holds.

Duran secured the save Thursday against Milwaukee, striking out one in a clean ninth inning.

Duran posted his 26th save of the season and his 10th since landing with the Phillies before the trade deadline. The 27-year-old right-hander now has a 1.54 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 14:0 K:BB over 11.2 innings for Philadelphia. Duran has submitted a scoreless outing in 12 of his last 14 appearances, and he's locked in as the club's closer.

Estevez allowed a hit and struck out two in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Angels.

Estevez has allowed just two hits while racking up nine strikeouts during his eight-inning scoreless streak. He's earned seven saves in that span and continues to lead the majors with 37 saves on the year. He's added a 2.54 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 52:20 K:BB through 60.1 innings this season and is unlikely to be challenged for the closing role during September.
