Jon Gray SP | TEX
Rangers' Jon Gray: Out for season
The Rangers transferred Gray (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Friday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.
A shoulder injury sent Gray to the injured list in mid-August, and now that he's on the 60-day IL, he will have to wait until 2026 to take the mound again. The 33-year-old will finish the year with 12 earned runs allowed across just 14 innings out of the bullpen alongside a 12:6 K:BB. He is due to become a free agent this offseason.

Elvin Rodriguez RP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Elvin Rodriguez: Claimed by Arizona
The Diamondbacks claimed Rodriguez off waivers from the Orioles on Friday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Rodriguez has been optioned to Triple-A Reno. The Orioles designated Rodriguez for assignment earlier in the week. He's appeared in seven games with the Brewers and Orioles this season, logging a 9.15 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 18:7 K:BB across 19.2 innings.

Kaleb Ort RP | LAA
Astros' Kaleb Ort: Placed on IL
The Astros placed Ort on the 15-day injured list Friday due to right elbow inflammation, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.
Ort was roughed up in Thursday's loss to the Yankees, surrendering four runs on three hits and two walks while recording just two outs. He'll now miss at least the next couple weeks. On the season, Ort has a 4.89 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 49:27 K:BB across 46 innings. Houston's bullpen continues to be hit hard by injuries.

Braxton Ashcraft P | PIT
Pirates' Braxton Ashcraft: Makes abbreviated start Wednesday
Ashcraft took a no-decision in his start during Wednesday's 3-0 win over the Dodgers, striking out four batters while allowing two hits and four walks over three scoreless frames.
After working at least five innings in each of his last three starts, Ashcraft tossed just 71 pitches before being lifted from Wednesday's contest. Ashcraft's early exit looks to have been a pre-planned arrangement; the right-hander has now totaled 103.2 innings between the majors and Triple-A Indianapolis this season, an increase of nearly 30 innings from what he covered during his time in the minors in 2024. The Pirates are also looking to manage the workload of one of their other young starters in Mike Burrows, who was moved to the bullpen last week and ended up tossing three innings in relief of Ashcraft on Wednesday. Though Ashcraft should continue to make starts for the Pirates, it wouldn't be surprising if he was deployed in tandem with Burrows in his future turns through the rotation.

Marlins' Luarbert Arias: Loses 40-man roster spot
The Marlins designated Arias for assignment Friday.
Arias has been designated for assignment by Miami for the second time this season. In seven appearances with the Marlins, he's surrendered 13 runs on 17 hits and five walks across 10.1 innings. He's posted a 3.93 ERA and a 1.66 WHIP in 18.1 innings with Triple-A Jacksonville. His spot on the active roster will go to Josh Simpson, while Jack Winkler takes the open spot on the 40-man roster.

Carson Seymour SP | SF
Giants' Carson Seymour: Receiving another start
Seymour is slated to start Friday's game against the Cardinals in St. Louis.
He'll be making his second straight turn through the rotation despite underwhelming in his first MLB start this past Saturday, when he took a loss to the Orioles after giving up four earned runs on five hits and two walks over three innings. Altogether, Seymour holds a 4.74 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 18:11 K:BB across 24.2 frames in the big leagues. Keeping the ball in the yard has proven to be a challenge for the righty, who has already yielded eight home runs.

Dillon Tate RP | TOR
Blue Jays' Dillon Tate: Sent back to Buffalo
The Blue Jays optioned Tate to Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.
Tate has appeared in six games out of the bullpen for Toronto this season, registering a 4.26 ERA, 2.21 WHIP and 8:6 K:BB across 6.1 innings of work. The Blue Jays recalled Braydon Fisher in a corresponding move.

Brant Hurter P | DET
Tigers' Brant Hurter: Rehab assignment pending
Hurter (back) could start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo this weekend, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Hurter was sent down to Triple-A on Aug. 17 and was placed on the injured list with back soreness without making an appearance for Toledo. The 26-year-old has posted a 2.45 ERA in 58.2 innings with the Tigers this season, and once healthy, he's expected to rejoin the big-league bullpen for the tail end of the regular season.
