  • Trevor Megill RP | MIL

Brewers' Trevor Megill: Earns fourth save

Megill earned the save in Friday's 7-5 extra-inning win over the Marlins, allowing one unearned run on one hit while striking out two in the 10th inning.

Megill was tasked with protecting a three-run lead in the bottom of the 10th inning and did so despite allowing a run to score on a wild pitch. After yielding seven earned runs across consecutive appearances April 10 and 14, he's now picked up a hold and a save in back-to-back solid outings. Angel Zerpa and Abner Uribe, who earned the team's previous two saves, worked the eighth and ninth innings in that order Friday, so Megill's outlook as the team's closer remains murky for now.

  • Emilio Pagan RP | CIN

    Paul Sewald RP | ARI

    Mason Miller RP | SD

Reds' Emilio Pagan: Earns save against Minnesota

Pagan (hamstring) collected his sixth save of the season Friday in the Reds' 2-1 win over the Twins, striking out one batter in a scoreless ninth inning.

Pagan injured his hamstring in his last outing against the Giants on Tuesday, but he was cleared to come out of the bullpen Friday to protect the Reds' one-run lead in the ninth. He needed just 13 pitches (eight strikes) to get through the frame for his sixth save of the season, which is tied with Mason Miller and Paul Sewald for most in the National League. It was a good sign to see Pagan back on the mound, but his usage over the weekend will be worth monitoring.

  • Kyle Leahy SP | STL

Cardinals' Kyle Leahy: Strikes out six in second win

Leahy (2-2) picked up the win Friday against the Astros, allowing three runs on five hits and no walks with six strikeouts across five innings.

Leahy served up a pair of solo homers in the third inning and loaded the bases with one out in the fourth, but he was able to strike out both Christian Vazquez and Isaac Paredes to escape further damage. He then allowed another solo shot in the fifth. Leahy's transition from reliever in 2025 to a starter this season has yielded subpar results, as he now owns a 5.21 ERA and 13:8 K:BB through 19 innings. He doesn't possess swing-and-miss stuff and therefore doesn't carry much, if any, fantasy appeal. Leahy's next start should come next week in Miami.

  • Janson Junk SP | MIA

Marlins' Janson Junk: One poor inning in no-decision

Junk did not factor into the decision in Friday's 7-5 extra-inning loss to the Brewers, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts over 5.1 innings.

Junk was mostly done in by a three-run fourth inning before allowing another run in the sixth. After opening the season with consecutive two-run efforts, the 30-year-old has now allowed nine runs (seven earned) over his last two outings. He owns a 4.50 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 15:6 K:BB across 22 innings to open the year and lines up for a home matchup against the Cardinals next week.

  • Giants' Casey Schmitt: Smacks solo homer Friday

Schmitt went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during the Giants' 10-5 win over the Nationals on Friday.

Schmitt extended the Giants' lead to 9-4 in the seventh after belting a solo home run off Paxton Schultz. It was Schmitt's second long ball of the season and his fifth multi-hit game, four of which have come over his last 10 games. In that 10-game span, he has gone 14-for-38 (.368) with five RBI, four doubles and seven runs scored.

  • David Bednar RP | NYY

Yankees' David Bednar: Converts sixth save

Bednar earned the save in Friday's 4-2 win over the Royals, allowing one walk and striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning.

Bednar was summoned to protect a two-run lead in the ninth and worked around a leadoff walk to slam the door on 17 pitches. It marked his second straight scoreless outing after he blew his first save of the season Saturday. On the year, the 31-year-old is 6-for-7 in save opportunities with a 4.15 ERA, 1.85 WHIP and 12:5 K:BB over 8.2 innings.

  • Rays' Nick Martinez: Takes tough loss vs. Pittsburgh

Martinez (0-1) took the loss against the Pirates on Friday, allowing two runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out three across 5.1 innings.

It wasn't exactly smooth sailing for Martinez, who allowed 11 baserunners during Friday's loss. He did limit the Pirates to just one run through five innings before being pulled with one out in the sixth, but he was tagged for another run after Griffin Jax yielded a two-run to Oneil Cruz. Martinez has given up two earned runs or fewer in each of his four outings this season for a 2.45 ERA and 1.23 WHIP across 22 innings, though he has yet to record a win. He's slated to take on the Reds next week.

  • Lazaro Estrada RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Lazaro Estrada: Option reversed, placed on IL

The Blue Jays placed Estrada on the MLB 15-day injured list April 5 with a right shoulder impingement, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Estrada was originally optioned to Triple-A Buffalo, but the team later discovered a shoulder issue that he suffered while playing in the big leagues, so he'll land on the major-league IL. He'll be eligible to return to action Monday, and when he is ready to return the Blue Jays will likely send him back down to Buffalo.

  • Kirby Yates RP | LAA

Angels' Kirby Yates: Starting rehab assignment Friday

Yates (knee) will embark on a rehab assignment with High-A Rancho Cucamonga on Friday.

Yates opened the regular season on the 15-day injured list due to left knee inflammation. He has progressed enough in his rehab to start a rehab assignment and may need just a couple of outings, given that he is not dealing with an arm issue. Yates could be in the mix for saves upon his return, especially given the recent struggles of Jordan Romano.

  • Cody Ponce RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Cody Ponce: Undergoes successful surgery

Ponce underwent surgery Friday to repair the ACL in his right knee, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Ponce sprained his right ACL in late March, which was a severe enough injury to require season-ending surgery, but he should be available for the start of spring training. He signed a three-year, $30 million contract with the Blue Jays in December after spending three seasons in Japan. Ponce's start against the Rockies on March 30 -- when he suffered his injury -- was his first appearance in an MLB game since 2021, when he played with the Pirates.
