Jimmy Herget RP | COL
Angels' Jimmy Herget: Records sixth save
Herget allowed a hit in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Rangers.
Herget took two blown saves and added three holds over his previous six outings. Interim manager Phil Nevin opted to give Herget another closing opportunity in a fairly safe spot with a three-run lead, and the 29-year-old right-hander got the job done. One of his blown saves in the aforementioned six-appearance span occurred when he allowed an inherited runner to score -- he's given up only one run in his last 8.2 innings. For the season, Herget owns a 2.42 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 59:15 K:BB while adding six saves, six holds and three blown saves in 63.1 innings.

Tigers' Gregory Soto: Clean inning for 26th save
Soto pitched a scoreless inning with one strikeout to pick up the save in Tuesday's 3-2 victory over the Orioles.
Soto needed just 10 pitches to retire the Orioles in order and earn his 26th save of the season. After allowing a run and being tagged with the loss in his last outing, the clean inning was a good bounce back for the Detroit closer. He owns a 3.44 ERA through 55 innings this season but has surrendered 12 earned runs in 20.2 innings dating back to the beginning of August.

Austin Voth RP | MIN
Orioles' Austin Voth: Surrenders two runs in loss
Voth (5-3) took the loss Tuesday, allowing two runs on six hits with three strikeouts in five innings against the Tigers.
After cruising through two innings, Voth ran into trouble in the third as Jeimer Candelario led off the inning with a base hit, and Akil Baddoo knocked him home with a two-run home run. The long ball was the only damage against Voth but led to him taking his third loss of the season as he was outdueled by Joey Wentz. In 49.1 innings in the second half, Voth owns a 2.57 ERA. He will likely take on Houston this weekend.

Kenley Jansen RP | DET
Braves' Kenley Jansen: Holds on for 36th save
Jansen earned a save after he pitched one inning, surrendering an unearned run on two hits and a walk while striking out two in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Nationals.
Jansen was called upon to protect a 3-1 lead in the top of the ninth, but quickly ran into trouble. The first two batters he faced reached base before he registered two strikeouts in a row, but a two-out Luis Garcia singled scored a run. After an intentional walk to Joey Meneses, Jansen was able to get Luke Voit to fly out to end the contest, earning his 36th save of the year. The 34-year-old has pitched four straight scoreless appearances since he blew a save and got the loss Sept. 11 against the Mariners. Jansen now owns a 3.63 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with 75 punchouts over 57 innings in 58 appearances while going 36-for-43 in save opportunities this year.

Athletics' Adam Oller: Begins throwing Tuesday
Oller (ribs) began his throwing progression Tuesday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Oller has been held out of action since being placed on the injured list Sept. 6, but he has officially begun the journey back. If all goes well, there is still a chance that Oller returns to Oakland's rotation before the end of the season.

Zach Jackson RP | ATH
Athletics' Zach Jackson: Likely done for season
A's manager Mark Kotsay said Tuesday it's unlikely that Jackson (shoulder) will pitch again this season, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Jackson has been making progress with his strained right shoulder, the issue is simply that there isn't enough time left in the season for Jackson to come back. The rookie reliever will likely have to wait until 2023 to pitch again following his 3.00 ERA, 1.27 WHIP campaign in 2022.

Drew Smith RP | WAS

He figures to serve as a middle-innings option in the Mets' bullpen as they prepare for what they hope will be a deep run into the postseason.
