Angels' Jose Fermin: Optioned to Triple-A

The Angels optioned Fermin to Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday.

  • Grant Taylor RP | CHW

White Sox's Grant Taylor: Poised for big-league promotion

The White Sox are expected to call up Taylor from Double-A Birmingham prior to Tuesday's game in Houston, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.

Taylor has been dominant since being moved to the bullpen at Birmingham, tossing 9.1 scoreless innings with an 18:1 K:BB over his last nine appearances. It's not clear whether the White Sox have given up on trying to develop him as a starting pitcher, but Taylor will be broken into the big leagues as a reliever. The 23-year-old has an electric arm and could push for high-leverage appearances sooner rather than later.

  • Diamondbacks' Kendall Graveman: Back on IL with hip injury

The Diamondbacks placed Graveman on the 15-day injured list Monday, retroactive to June 8, due to a right hip impingement.

Graveman's hip injury may have played a part in his disastrous outing in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Reds, when he allowed six runs on five hits and one walks in one inning. It's the second time he'll be on the IL, with a back injury preventing him from making his season debut until May 13. Christian Montes De Oca was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Montes De Oca: Recalled by Snakes

The Diamondbacks recalled Montes De Oca from Triple-A Reno on Monday.

Montes De Oca served as the Diamondbacks' 27th for Saturday's twin bill against the Reds. He was optioned to Triple-A on Sunday, but he's back with the big club after Kendall Graveman (hip) was placed on the 15-day injured list. Montes De Oca made his major-league debut in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, allowing no hits and one walk while striking out two across 2.2 scoreless innings.

  • Trevor Stephan RP | CLE

Guardians' Trevor Stephan: Ready for rehab assignment

Stephan (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with the rookie-level Arizona Complex League Guardians on Tuesday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Stephan missed the entirety of last season following a UCL reconstruction, but he's finally been cleared for game action following a long rehab process. His rehab assignment will be a lengthy one given how much time Stephan has missed, but he should be ready to rejoin the Guardians' bullpen before the All-Star break.

  • Guardians' Andrew Walters: Undergoes lat surgery

Walter underwent surgery Monday to repair his right lat, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

The Guardians didn't divulge a timetable for Walters, but the operation will undoubtedly end the reliever's season. Walter had been shelved since late May with the injury and last week was transferred to the 60-day injured list.

  • Red Sox's Brian Van Belle: Contract selected

The Red Sox selected Van Belle's contract from Triple-A Worcester on Monday.

Van Belle has collected a 2.29 ERA and 41:7 K:BB over 51 innings covering eight starts and four relief appearances this season at Worcester. The 28-year-old will give the bullpen some length and will be making his major-league debut when/if he gets into a game.

  • Robert Stock SP | NYM

Red Sox's Robert Stock: Removed from 40-man roster

The Red Sox designated Stock for assignment Monday.

Stock struggled Sunday against the Yankees, allowing two runs on one hit and three walks while recording just two outs. He's being sent out in favor of Brian Van Belle, who will give the Red Sox a fresh bullpen arm.

  • Phillies' Daniel Robert: Back to Triple-A

The Phillies optioned Robert to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Monday.

The 30-year-old right-hander didn't make an appearance following his weekend promotion and will head back to Triple-A after Zack Wheeler was reinstated from the paternity list. In two games with the Phillies this season, Robert has a 13.50 ERA and 2:3 K:BB across 0.2 innings of action.

  • Matt Svanson P | STL

Cardinals' Matt Svanson: Demoted to Triple-A

The Cardinals optioned Svanson to Triple-A Memphis on Monday.

Svanson was roughed up in Sunday's loss to the Dodgers, throwing 52 pitches across two innings of work out of the bullpen. He was tagged for one hit, three walks, two hit batsmen and two earned runs. The Cardinals needed some fresh arms and recalled both Riley O'Brien and Chris Roycroft ahead of Monday's series opener against the Blue Jays.
