  • Felix Bautista RP | BAL

Orioles' Felix Bautista: Collects eighth save

Bautista secured the save in Monday's 5-2 win against St. Louis, pitching a clean inning with two strikeouts.

The flamethrowing right-hander required only 10 pitches, seven which were strikes, to convert his 56th career save. Bautista has been less than stellar in May, allowing five runs with an 8:5 K:BB across 7.2 innings. Despite the recent string of subpar performance, he remains cemented as the Baltimore closer with a 3.78 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 19:11 K:BB through 16.2 total innings.

  • Angel Chivilli RP | NYY

Rockies' Angel Chivilli: Optioned to Triple-A

The Rockies optioned Chivilli to Triple-A Albuquerque following Monday's 3-1 loss to the Cubs.

Chivilli has struggled out of the Rockies' bullpen this season, posting a 6.14 ERA and 1.60 WHIP across 29.1 innings. He has given up nine runs over his last 4.1 frames, and the 22-year-old right-hander will look to regain his form in Triple-A.

  • Yilber Diaz SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Yilber Diaz: Transferred to complex

Diaz was transferred from Triple-A Reno to Arizona's training complex Saturday, Michael McDermott of SI.com reports.

The Diamondbacks want Diaz to get right after walking at least five batters in four consecutive starts. In his most recent start against Sugar Land on May 17, Diaz retired the first batter faced and then walked five straight before being pulled. He showed improved strike-throwing ability in 2024 but has taken a huge step backwards this season. In nine combined appearances between Reno (eight starts) and Arizona (one in relief), Diaz has struck out 34 and walked 34 over 33 innings.

  • Cubs' Daniel Palencia: Notches third save

Palencia picked up the save in Monday's 3-1 victory over the Rockies, pitching a clean inning with two strikeouts.

The 25-year-old righty placed eight of his 13 total pitches in the strike zone to convert his third straight save chance. Palencia appears to have fully overtaken the closer's job in Chicago while Porter Hodge (oblique) is on the injured list. Palencia has been impressive through 18.2 frames this season, pitching to a 1.93 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 19:7 K:BB.

  • Javier Assad RP | CHC

    Cubs' Javier Assad: Plays catch

Assad (oblique) played catch Monday, Zoe Grossman of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Assad re-injured his oblique in late April during a rehab start and had been shut down from throwing since. However, he's been cleared to begin a throwing program and played catch Monday for the first time since the injury. Assad remains weeks away from being activated from the 60-day IL.

  • Porter Hodge SP | CHC

Cubs' Porter Hodge: Hits plateau in recovery

Cubs' manager Craig Counsell said Monday that Hodge (oblique) was "not making progress" in his recovery, Zoe Grossman of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Hodge was placed on the injured list May 18 with a left oblique strain and Counsell said Hodge was "in a good spot" Friday. However, Hodge's recovery has halted for unknown reasons, and he may require more than the minimum stay on the 15-day injured list. If that's the case, expect Daniel Palencia to continue to see ninth-inning work.

  • Nick Sandlin RP | LAA

Blue Jays' Nick Sandlin: Tossing bullpen Monday

Sandlin (lat) will throw a bullpen session Monday at the Blue Jays' facility in Florida, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Sandlin has been on the shelf since April 20 due to a strained right lat. Monday's workout will represent his first time throwing off a mound since sustaining the injury. The 28-year-old will need to advance to facing live hitters before potentially being activated sometime in June.

  • Ryan Burr RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Ryan Burr: Pulled from rehab assignment

Burr experienced renewed soreness in his right shoulder during his rehab appearance Sunday with Triple-A Buffalo and has returned to Toronto for further evaluation, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Burr was making his sixth rehab appearance as part of his recovery from lingering right shoulder inflammation and appeared close to a return from the 60-day injured list, but the setback will extend his return timeline. Once Burr undergoes further testing in Toronto, the Blue Jays should have a better idea regarding when he might be ready to resume his rehab assignment.

  • Yimi Garcia RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Yimi Garcia: Receives cortisone shot

Garcia (shoulder) received a cortisone shot Monday and will be shut down from throwing for a few days, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

How Garcia feels in the coming days will determine when he'll resume throwing, and until then, there won't be much information on a timeline for return. He was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a right shoulder impingement, but he may need more than the minimum amount of time to move past the injury.

  • Collin Snider RP | CHC

Mariners' Collin Snider: Steady run as setup man

Snider recorded two outs in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Astros. He allowed one walk and struck out one.

A steady campaign continues for Snider, who's now registered at least one punchout in each of his last eight appearances. The 29-year-old right-hander has turned in seven scoreless outings among his last 10 games, during which he owns a 3.38 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 15:2 K:BB covering 10.2 innings. Snider has four holds to zero save opportunities this season, so he's set to continue serving as a setup man for lights-out closer Andres Munoz in the future.
