Cubs' Ethan Roberts: Sent down to Triple-A

The Cubs optioned Roberts to Triple-A Iowa on Sunday.

Roberts was recalled by the Cubs from Triple-A on April 9 and allowed just one run over his first 6.1 innings in the majors. However, the 27-year-old right-hander struggled in his last outing against the Phillies on Saturday, allowing four runs on three hits and a walk over two innings. Tom Cosgrove was recalled by the Cubs from Iowa to provide a fresh bullpen arm.

  • Tom Cosgrove RP | HOU

Cubs' Tom Cosgrove: Recalled by Cubs

The Cubs recalled Cosgrove from Triple-A Iowa on Sunday.

Cosgrove started the season with the Padres but was traded to the Cubs on April 10. He tossed four scoreless innings in Triple-A while logging seven strikeouts, and he'll move to the majors to provide left-handed depth out of the Cubs' bullpen. Ethan Roberts was optioned to Iowa in a corresponding move.

  • Ian Anderson RP | ATL

Braves' Ian Anderson: Back with Atlanta

Atlanta claimed Anderson off waivers from the Angels on Sunday.

Anderson will make his return to the organization that drafted him in 2016 after Atlanta previously traded him to the Angels in March. He was included in the Angels' Opening Day bullpen and posted a 11.57 ERA, 2.57 WHIP and 8:7 K:BB across 9.1 innings before being dropped from the 40-man roster Wednesday. Since Anderson doesn't have minor-league options remaining, he'll report to Atlanta and will likely assume a low-leverage role out of the bullpen.

  • Tayler Saucedo RP | LAA

Mariners' Tayler Saucedo: Returns to Triple-A

The Mariners optioned Saucedo to Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday.

The left-hander was called up by Seattle on Saturday and will return to Tacoma after firing a scoreless inning during a 14-0 victory. Saucedo has given up four earned runs in his four major-league outings this year and is unlikely to fill more than a middle-relief role if he receives another look with the Mariners.

  • Bryan Hoeing RP | SD

Padres' Bryan Hoeing: Moved to 60-day IL

The Padres transferred Hoeing (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Sunday.

The move makes room on the Padres' 40-man roster for David Morgan, whose contract was selected from Double-A San Antonio in a corresponding move. Hoeing started the season on the 15-day IL due to a right shoulder strain that he had been dealing with throughout camp. He's in the midst of a throwing program, and his move to the 60-day IL means he won't be eligible to return until late May.

  • Padres' Logan Gillaspie: Lands on IL with oblique strain

The Padres placed Gillaspie on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to a left oblique strain.

Gillaspie appeared to suffer the injury during the seventh inning of Saturday's loss to the Rays, and he will undergo further testing to determine the severity of the injury. In corresponding moves, David Morgan's contract was selected from Double-A San Antonio and Bryan Hoeing (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day IL.

  • Rangers' Gerson Garabito: Demoted Sunday

The Rangers optioned Garabito to Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday.

The right-hander was called up by Texas on Thursday but will return to Triple-A without making an appearance in the majors. Garabito gave up eight earned runs over eight innings during his previous stint with the Rangers this year.

  • Padres' David Morgan: Heading to majors

The Padres selected Morgan's contract from Double-A San Antonio on Sunday.

Morgan will make the jump to the majors straight from Double-A, where he has posted a 3.12 ERA and 1.22 WHIP over 8.2 innings while striking out 19 batters. He'll serve out of the Padres' bullpen after Logan Gillaspie (oblique) was placed on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move.

  • Diamondbacks' J.P. Feyereisen: DFA'd by Arizona

The Diamondbacks designated Feyereisen for assignment Sunday.

Feyereisen was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Friday after giving up three runs (two earned) on two hits while striking out one batter in one inning against the Rays on Thursday. If he's not claimed off waivers, the veteran right-hander will have the option of staying in Arizona's organization or exploring his options in free agency. The move corresponds with the Diamondbacks selecting Scott McGough's contract from Reno.

  • Kaleb Ort RP | LAA

Astros' Kaleb Ort: Reinstated from IL

The Astros activated Ort (oblique) from the 15-day injured list Sunday, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

The right-hander will take the roster spot of Forrest Whitley, who was placed on the IL due to a knee sprain. Ort has been sidelined since the start of spring training but is ready to join the Astros after allowing two earned runs with a 5:5 K:BB in seven minor-league rehab appearances.
