Bibee (10-3) picked up the win Friday, giving up two runs on six hits and a walk over six innings in a 5-2 victory over the Blue Jays. He struck out five.

Solo homers by George Springer and Vladimir Guerrero accounted for the only damage off Bibee, who produced his fifth quality start in his last seven outings. The rookie right-hander has a 2.47 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 40:9 K:BB through 43.2 innings over that stretch with a 5-1 record, and he'll look to keep his second-half surge going when he next takes the mound, which is likely to come next week in Minnesota.

Singer (8-10) took the loss Friday versus the Mariners, allowing four runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out six over four innings.

Singer's first pitch was taken deep to right field by J.P. Crawford, and the right-hander labored through the first inning. He had a couple of scoreless frames before giving up a go-ahead two-run single to Eugenio Suarez in the fourth, which put the Mariners ahead for good. Singer has given up 10 runs (eight earned) over 7.2 innings across his last two starts, a departure from his relatively solid pitching (2.85 ERA, 39:6 K:BB) over 41 innings coming out of the All-Star break. For the year, he's at a 5.15 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 125:44 K:BB through 143.1 innings across 26 starts. Singer is tentatively lined up for a home start versus the Pirates next week.

Miller allowed three runs on six hits and a walk while striking out six over four innings Friday, taking a no-decision versus the Royals.

Miller was fairly sharp, throwing 62 of 83 pitches for strikes, but the Royals were able to make some solid contact against him. This was the shortest of his eight starts since the All-Star break, and just the third time in that span he's given up three or more runs. The rookie right-hander is now at a 3.90 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 95:21 K:BB through 101.2 innings over 19 starts. He's projected to make his next appearance at home in another favorable matchup against the Athletics.

Irvin did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk over six innings against Colorado. He struck out five.

This marked Irvin's third start since the All-Star break and it was his least effective effort. After allowing just one run in 10 innings during his previous two starts, his night was capped by a two-run fifth-inning home run by Ezequiel Tovar that gave the Rockies a 4-2 lead and left Irvin on the hook for the loss. The Orioles rallied late to allow Irvin to escape with a no-decision, however. The lefty holds a 4.78 ERA with a 1.36 WHIP and 58 strikeouts in 64 innings, which he'll take with him into his next start, penciled in to take place next week against the White Sox.

Crawford allowed two runs on four hits and a walk over five-plus innings in Friday's loss to the Dodgers. He struck out seven and did not factor in the decision.

Crawford faced almost no threat through five shutout frames but was charged with two runs after putting two Dodgers on base in the sixth inning. He's given up three or fewer runs in six straight outings, posting a 2.73 ERA during that span to lower his season ERA to 3.65 with a 101:25 K:BB across 101 frames. Crawford is currently lined up to face the Astros at home next week.

Manning is undergoing tests after injuring his back in the seventh inning of Friday's win over the Astros, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Manning was visited by Tigers manager A.J. Hinch and the trainer after delivering a pitch to Yainer Diaz. "It looked like he slipped on the pitch before," Hinch said. "His spike caught or whatever, but the back grabbed at him a little bit... He was uncomfortable." Manning threw a test pitch but winced, at which point he was removed from the contest. Hinch noted that Manning celebrated with his teammates after Parker Meadows hit a walk-off homer, which the manager took as "a good sign." Manning was terrific Friday before departing, allowing just one unearned run on one hit over 6.1 frames.

Gray (7-6) allowed one run on six hits over seven innings Friday, striking out four and earning a win over the Rangers.

Aside from Mitch Garver's solo shot in the second inning, Gray was dominant while picking up his seventh win. Gray has given up fewer than three earned runs in four of his last five outings, posting a 2.48 ERA during that stretch. On the year, he's sporting a 3.06 ERA with a 151:50 K:BB through 26 starts. Gray's next outing is lined up to be a road rematch with the Rangers next week.

Dunning (9-6) yielded four runs on five hits and six walks over four innings Friday, striking out six and taking a loss against the Twins.

All four runs against Dunning came during the first inning after he walked four of the first five batters he faced. While he didn't allow another run, he still loaded the bases twice more before leaving the contest. The six walks set a new season high while his ERA climbed to 3.36. In eight appearances since the All-Star break, Dunning has registered a 4.43 ERA. He's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Mets next week.

Valdez did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing five walks but no hits over seven shutout innings versus the Tigers. He struck out six.

Valdez hadn't walked more than two in any start since the beginning of July, but his control abandoned him in this one, as he also hit a batter in addition to the five free passes. His pitch count ballooned to 114 through seven frames because of the wildness, leaving Astros manager Dusty Baker with no choice but to pull Valdez in the middle of a no-hitter. Bryan Abreu lost the no-no in the eighth and Ryan Pressly lost the game in the ninth. Valdez, of course, completed a no-hitter earlier this month against the Guardians, but he's been up-and-down since the All-Star break (5.33 ERA), mixing in some clunkers with his brilliant efforts.

Eflin (13-8) took a tough-luck loss Friday, allowing two runs on seven hits and a walk over six frames versus the Yankees. He struck out 11.

Eflin matched counterpart Gerrit Cole with a season-high 11 punchouts, but he exited with the Rays down one and the Yankees eventually pulled away to saddle Eflin with a loss. It was the right-hander's second double-digit strikeout game of the season after he fanned 10 Pirates back in early May. Eflin had a scare with his knee in late July but has bounced back with four superb starts in five August outings.
