  • Jose Quintana SP | COL

White Sox's Jose Quintana: Escapes with no-decision Sunday

Quintana allowed three runs on five hits and four walks while striking out five over seven innings in Sunday's 9-3 win over the Padres.

Quintana held San Diego scoreless through six innings while his mates gave him little support once again. The White Sox were leading 1-0 when he served up a three-run homer to Hunter Renfroe in the seventh, putting the left-hander in line for his sixth loss of the season. However, the White Sox posted an eight-run eighth inning, taking Quintana off the hook. It was the 60th no-decision of his career, tops in the majors since 2012. Chicago's ace is 2-1 with a 2.77 ERA over his last four starts after going 0-4 with a 6.17 ERA in his first four starts of the season.

  • Alex Meyer SP | LAA

Angels' Alex Meyer: Turns in finest outing Sunday

Meyer (2-1) held the Tigers to one run on three hits over 6.1 innings Sunday. He walked two and struck out seven en route to his second win of the season.

This was easily the 27-year-old's best start of the season after he struggled through his first three. Meyer credited his success Sunday to his ability to control his overpowering fastball (61 strikes to 35 balls), something he hasn't been able to do throughout his young career. Given his past struggles, it is too early to recommend the 2011 first-round draft pick as a pitcher to rely on after just one good start, but he's worth monitoring over his next couple of outings just in case something "clicked" Sunday.

  • Charlie Morton SP | ATL

Astros' Charlie Morton: Strikes out 10 in win over Yankees

Morton (5-2) allowed four runs on four hits and four walks across 5.2 innings in Sunday's 10-7 win over the Yankees. He struck out 10.

Morton cruised through the early portion of the game but ran into trouble in the fifth when Matt Holiday cracked a three-run home run to right following an RBI single from Brett Gardner. He was staked to a massive lead at the time, so he carried on into the sixth before he was pulled after 102 pitches. Morton has now walked four in each of his last two starts, but he continues to strike out batters at a high rate and now carries an excellent, almost league-leading 10.7 K/9 to go along with his respectable 3.97 ERA. He will look to continue his strong start to the season Saturday against the Indians.

  • Kevin Gausman SP | CHC

Orioles' Kevin Gausman: Roughed up by Royals on Sunday

Gausman (2-3) was roughed up over 3.1 innings Sunday, allowing five runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out three Royals in a no-decision.

The right-hander's ERA ballooned to 7.19 following Sunday's lackluster effort. Gausman's downright awful play thus far has been one of the most unpleasant surprises to sweep through the fantasy circuit early in 2017. The potential for success remains, and many would still assume his talents will show up sooner than later, but Gausman's owners are stuck between a rock and a hard place. At this point, it may be wise to leave the 26-year-old on the bench until things turn around. Unfortunately, playing in the AL East doesn't make turning a 180 an easy feat. Gausman's next start comes Saturday against the surging Blue Jays.

  • Luis Severino SP | ATH

Yankees' Luis Severino: Struggles in no-decision

Severino allowed three earned runs on six hits and three walks over 2.1 innings Sunday in a win over Houston. He struck out two and hit a batter in the no-decision.

Severino uncharacteristically struggled with his control Sunday, setting a season high with three walks over just 2.1 innings of work. He threw only 46 of his 77 pitches for strikes, many of which were left over the heart of the plate. It was a disappointing effort, especially given the extra day of rest Severino was afforded as a result of Saturday's rainout. He'll look to get back on track when he takes the hill Friday at Tampa Bay.

  • Vidal Nuno SP | WAS

Orioles' Vidal Nuno: Optioned to minors

Nuno was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday.

The struggling Nuno will be replaced in the Orioles bullpen by Richard Bleier, who was recalled from Norfolk in a corresponding move. The left-hander had given up runs in each of his last three appearances with the Orioles to inflate his ERA to 6.75 over 12 innings on the season, prompting the organization to send him back to the minors for further refinement.

  • Sonny Gray SP | BOS

Athletics' Sonny Gray: Logs best start of season Saturday

Gray didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the Rangers but surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out three.

Gray put together the best outing of his first three starts, firing 106 pitches and keeping the Rangers lineup largely at bay. The 27-year-old righty also managed to stay away from the long ball altogether for the second straight start after giving up three in his first appearance of the season against the Twins. Gray's groundball outs have encouragingly been in double digits in the last two games, certainly a factor in his improved performance since his debut. He's now lowered his ERA from 6.00 to 3.78 over his last pair of trips to the mound, a trend he'll look to extend in a Thursday home start versus the Red Sox.

  • Ricky Nolasco SP | ARI

Angels' Ricky Nolasco: Gives up two more long balls Saturday

Nolasco didn't factor into the decision Saturday versus the Tigers and gave up three earned runs on five hits and four walks over six innings. He struck out four.

The veteran right-hander acquitted himself reasonably well but was once again done in by homers. J.D. Martinez opened the scoring on the night with a 398-foot shot in the second with one aboard, and old nemesis Justin Upton, with whom Nolasco has struggled throughout his career, tagged him for a sixth-inning solo shot. The 34-year-old has now given up two homers in each of his last three starts and in three prior trips to the mound as well. His control was also an issue Saturday, with the four free passes he issued serving as a season high. Nolasco will try to get back on track in a Friday road start against the Mets.

  • Mike Clevinger RP | PIT

Indians' Mike Clevinger: Fails to reach fifth inning

Clevinger (1-1) allowed three runs on three hits and five walks while striking out five batters over 4.1 innings during Saturday's loss to Minnesota.

Clevinger spun 5.2 scoreless innings in his first start of the season last week, but the Twins got to him early Saturday. He struggled with his command and threw just 49 of 86 pitches for strikes. The 26-year-old righty posted a 5.26 ERA and 1.49 WHIP over 53 innings last season, and he is expected to give way to Corey Kluber (back) once the Cleveland ace is ready to return from the disabled list, so Clevinger's fantasy prospects are capped.

  • Jose Berrios SP | TOR

Twins' Jose Berrios: Breezes through reigning AL champs

Berrios (1-0) allowed a single run on two hits and a walk while striking out four batters over 7.2 innings during Saturday's win over Cleveland.

After a dreadful run in the majors last year (8.02 ERA, 1.87 WHIP over 14 starts), Berrios dominated a strong Cleveland offense in his 2017 debut. He allowed just four baserunners and threw 71 of 104 pitches for strikes, which is a sound followup to posting a 1.13 ERA and 0.81 WHIP over six starts with Triple-A Rochester. His rotation spot aligns with a home start against Kansas City, and it would be shocking if Berrios didn't toe the rubber for that start.
