Mariners SP Vidal Nuno blows big lead in Boston
Mariners starter Vidal Nuno was handed a 7-0 lead Sunday in Boston. And he tossed it away like yesterday's garbage.
Actually, he didn't toss it all away. But he tossed enough away to be yanked from the game before he could qualify for a win. Nuno gave up four runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings with one walk and two strikeouts to raise his ERA on the year to 3.67.
His problems began in the third and fourth on homers by Xander Bogaerts and Rusney Castillo. Sacrifice flies in the fourth and fifth doomed him to a no-decision.
Nuno has failed so far as a starter for Seattle. He has yielded nine runs in 13 innings over three outings since joining the rotation.
