Irvin (8-9) took the loss Friday as the Nationals were downed 8-3 by the Brewers, giving up four runs on six hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out four.

The right-hander managed to keep the ball in the park after serving up seven homers over his prior four starts, but it was still another mediocre performance from Irvin. While he tossed 72 of his 110 pitches for strikes, his command within the zone remains shaky, and three of the six hits off him went for extra bases. Over his last five outings, Irvin has stumbled to a 6.43 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 21:8 K:BB through 28 innings. He'll try to get back on track in his next start, which lines up to come at home next week against the Giants.

Montas (5-8) picked up the win Friday, giving up three runs on nine hits over five innings in an 8-3 victory over the Nationals. He struck out five without walking a batter.

The right-hander was solid in his Milwaukee debut, tossing 58 of 89 pitches for strikes and issuing zero free passes for the first time since he got the Opening Day assignment for Cincinnati on March 28 -- a start which coincidentally also came against Washington. Montas has lasted more than five innings only once in his last five outings, a stretch in which he's stumbled to a 7.27 ERA while serving up seven home runs in 26 innings, and CJ Abrams did tag him for a two-run shot in the third inning Friday. Montas will try to keep the ball in the park, and give his new team some length, when he makes his next trip to the mound on the road next week in Atlanta.

Pfaadt came away with a no-decision in Friday's 9-8 win over the Pirates, giving up three runs on seven hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out three.

The right-hander ran up his pitch count and fell short of a quality start, exiting after 96 pitches (65 strikes), but Pfaadt still left the mound in line for his sixth win of the year before the Arizona bullpen made a mess of things. After a couple scoreless outings on either side of the All-Star break, Pfaadt has avoided taking a loss in seven straight trips to the mound, posting a 3.10 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 34:6 K:BB through 40.2 innings over that stretch. He'll try to get back in the win column in his next start, which lines up to come on the road next week in Cleveland.

Abbott (9-8) allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk over 4.1 innings Friday, striking out eight and taking a loss against the Giants.

Abbott was tagged with a pair of runs in the second inning, including a solo shot by Casey Schmitt, and the lefty was on the opposite end of Blake Snell's no-hitter in this one. Abbott needed 90 pitches to get through 4.1 frames and forced 13 whiffs. He failed to complete at least five innings for the third time in his last four starts, and he's posted a 5.40 ERA while going 0-2 during that stretch. For the season, Abbott owns a 3.41 ERA with a 97:46 K:BB through 22 starts. He's currently lined up for a start in Miami next week.

Snell (1-3) issued three walks while allowing no runs in a no-hitter against the Reds on Friday. He struck out 11 in the 3-0 win.

Snell issued a walk in the second inning and two more in the fifth before retiring the last 13 batters he faced. He forced 21 swinging strikes on 114 pitches, including 10 via the curveball. Not only was it his first career no-hitter, but it was also his first career complete game. Snell is starting to look more like the Cy Young-winning version of himself after a rough start to the year. Since returning from the injured list a second time, he owns a sharp 0.55 ERA with a 41:10 K:BB over 33 innings. In his last two starts alone he's racked up 26 punchouts in 15 frames. Snell will carry a 4.29 ERA into his next outing, which is currently lined up to be in Washington.

Vasquez allowed a run on three hits and two walks while striking out four over five innings in a no-decision versus the Rockies on Friday.

Vasquez was responsible for Brendan Rodgers' solo home run in the second inning, but he left with the lead before the Padres' bullpen melted down in the sixth. Aside from a six-run fiasco versus Baltimore in his previous start, Vasquez has been good lately -- he's allowed two runs or fewer in six of his last seven outings. He's pitched to a 4.62 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 50:21 K:BB through 76 innings over 16 starts on the year. The right-hander's next start is projected to be at Miami, though he would be on regular rest for the last two games in next week's earlier series at Pittsburgh if Michael King (calf) doesn't recover as quickly as expected following his exit from his start last Saturday in Baltimore.

Gomber (3-7) allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out six over seven innings to earn the win Friday over the Padres.

Gomber gave up solo home runs to Manny Machado and Donovan Solano, but he was able to limit the damage there. This was Gomber's third outing of at least seven innings this year, and it snapped a three-start winless skid. He's at a 4.66 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 84:28 K:BB through 116 innings over 21 starts this season. While homers remain an issue -- he's allowed 22 of them this year -- Gomber is still having his strongest campaign since 2021. His next start is projected to be at home versus the Mets.

Phillips (3-1) allowed eight runs on five hits and three walks while striking out one over 1.2 innings to take the loss Friday versus the Mariners.

Phillips had pitched 15 consecutive scoreless innings over his last two starts, but Victor Robles ended that streak with a solo home run in the first inning. Luke Raley added a three-run home run and Justin Turner hit a grand slam in the second, which was enough to end Phillips' outing early. He's now at a 4.39 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 20:5 K:BB through 26.2 innings over five appearances (four starts). The rookie right-hander will have a tough test when looking for a bounce-back effort next week on the road versus the Dodgers.

Blackburn (5-2) claimed a win in Friday's 5-1 win over the Angels, allowing one run on six hits and two walks while striking out six over six innings.

Blackburn worked in and out of trouble in his first start with the Mets, needing two separate inning-ending double plays to get through six frames while giving up just one run. The veteran recently came off the injured list and showed enough in his first start back with Oakland for the Mets to trade for him, and he quickly rewarded New York with a solid debut. Blackburn has quality starts in five of his 10 outings this season and will carry a 4.11 ERA into his start next week versus the Rockies at Coors Field.

Allard will serve as a bulk reliever behind opener Orion Kerkering during Saturday's game against the Mariners, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Kerkering has recorded more than three outs just three times this season, so it's likely Allard will enter Saturday's game to begin the second inning. The 26-year-old southpaw started in his Phillies debut this past Sunday against the Guardians, surrendering three earned runs in four innings while taking a no-decision.
