Quintana (side) withdrew from the World Baseball Classic and will undergo testing Monday, Pat Ragazzo of SI.com reports.

In a disappointing turn of events for the left-hander, Quintana will no longer participate in the upcoming WBC with his home country of Colombia, but he will now remain with Mets camp and get imaging on his injured left side. The 34-year-old signed a two year contract with New York in December after a resurgent 2022 campaign where he produced a 2.93 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with 137 strikeouts over 165.2 innings in 32 appearances with the Pirates and Cardinals. As the only southpaw in the projected rotation right now, a significant injury could prove to be a big blow to the Mets in the early season.

Smyly has an 11.25 ERA across four innings in two Cactus League starts.

Smyly has been hurt by the long ball so far, as he's allowed three home runs in his two short starts. The lefty posted a 1.4 HR/9 last year and has a 1.5 mark for his career, so home runs have always been a bit of an issue. Smyly still managed a strong 3.47 ERA across 106.1 innings for the Cubs in 2022, and he should slot in near the back of the team's rotation this year. The veteran could have some fantasy value in the right matchups, though his propensity to allow homers along with his injury history remain red flags.

Peterson has been diagnosed with a left foot contusion and is considered day-to-day, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.

Peterson's X-rays on his left foot came back inconclusive, and he underwent a CT scan Sunday. The left-hander was struck in the foot during Saturday's Grapefruit League appearance against the Marlins before exiting. Peterson may need to miss a few days while recovering from the bruise, but barring a setback he should be ready to go for the start of the regular season.

Quintana left his Grapefruit League appearance Sunday against the Cardinals with tightness in his left side, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Quintana threw one inning of work before exiting the contest with the injury. The left-hander will have tests done Monday. Quintana is currently scheduled to participate with Colombia in the World Baseball Classic, but his participation could now be in doubt.

X-rays were inconclusive on Peterson's left foot, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Peterson was then sent for a CT scan, the results of which are not yet available. He was struck in the foot by a batted ball during Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Marlins. More should be known by Monday.

Luzardo gave up three runs on four hits over 2.2 innings while striking out three in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Mets.

A three-run homer by minor-league veteran Lorenzo Cedrola in the second inning marred his outing, but Luzardo was otherwise sharp, and his strikeout victims included Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso. The 25-year-old southpaw has a 4:0 K:BB through his first 4.2 innings this spring, and if Luzardo can stay healthy in 2023 he could be poised for a breakout campaign.

Strider gave up three hits and a walk over three scoreless innings while striking out three in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Orioles.

The right-hander has yet to allow a run through his first five spring innings, posting a 4:2 K:BB. Strider is coming off a dazzling rookie season that saw him top 200 strikeouts despite pitching only 131.2 innings for Atlanta, and the 24-year-old right-hander could emerge as a true ace in 2023 if his changeup joins his high-90s fastball and nasty slider as a plus offering.

Kershaw is scheduled to throw three innings in a camp game Sunday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports,

It will be his first live action of the spring. Kershaw pulled out of the World Baseball Classic because he was unable to obtain insurance for his contract with the Dodgers, but there is no current injury concern.

Verlander gave up a run on two hits and struck out three in three innings during Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Marlins.

Making his first appearance of the spring, Verlander fired 28 of 35 pitches for strikes and already looks just about ready for Opening Day. The 40-year-old won his third AL Cy Young Award last season with the Astros, and after signing a two-year, $87 million deal with the Mets this winter, the seemingly ageless ace might just take a run at the NL award in 2023.

Cavalli gave up a run on two hits and a walk over two innings while striking out five in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals.

Entering the game in the third inning, Cavalli served up a solo shot to Jordan Walker but was otherwise dominant against a St. Louis lineup that was missing big bats like Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado. The 24-year-old right-hander was limited to 101.1 innings last year while dealing with shoulder issues, but Cavalli is healthy to begin camp and has a 6:1 K:BB through his first three spring frames. The Nationals are counting on their top pitching prospect to seize a rotation spot in 2023, a decision he will make a lot easier if he keeps racking up strikeouts.
