  • Pirates' Jameson Taillon: Still weighing options

According to medical director Todd Tomczyk, Taillon (elbow) "is still processing and gathering intel" following his visit with Dr. David Altchek in New York on Monday, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports.

Taillon has been sidelined since May 4 with a right elbow flexor strain. It was originally thought that the right-hander would be headed for surgery after suffering a setback in his recovery last week, but it sounds like he's still considering a non-surgical route. It's unclear when Taillon is expected to make a decision regarding the next step in his recovery.

  • Ian Anderson RP | ATL

Braves' Ian Anderson: Dominating at Double-A

Anderson gave up two runs on six hits and a walk over six innings while striking out nine for Double-A Mississippi on Tuesday.

It's the seventh time in his last 12 outings Anderson has fanned at least nine batters. The 21-year-old has a 2.07 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and eye-popping 95:19 K:BB over 69.2 innings during that stretch, and Atlanta's No. 3 fantasy prospect seems more than ready for a promotion to Triple-A.

  • Jordan Lyles RP | KC

Brewers' Jordan Lyles: Confirmed to start Wednesday

Manager Craig Counsell confirmed Lyles would start Wednesday's game against the Athletics, Sophia Minnaert of Fox Sports Wisconsin reports.

As anticipated, Milwaukee won't waste much time to break the newly acquired right-hander into its injury-depleted rotation. Lyles' results since the All-Star break haven't been encouraging -- he's surrendered 16 runs (13 earned) on 18 hits and six walks over eight frames -- but the Brewers will probably be pleased enough if he can merely eat some innings in his team debut. The 28-year-old likely won't warrant much attention outside of NL-only and deeper mixed leagues.

  • Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Dominant in no-decision

Syndergaard didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 5-2 extra-innings win over the White Sox, giving up an unearned run on five hits and a walk over 7.1 innings while striking out 11.

The right-hander continues his recent resurgence -- Thor has tossed at least seven innings in each of his last four starts, posting a 1.91 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 36:7 K:BB through 28.1 innings over that stretch. Unfortunately for him, he's only picked up the win in one of them, as Edwin Diaz blew the save Tuesday. Assuming he isn't dealt at the trade deadline, Syndergaard will try to keep things rolling in his next outing Sunday in Pittsburgh.

  • Joe Musgrove SP | SD

Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Stops Pirates' losing streak

Musgrove (8-9) allowed two runs on five hits with no walks and four strikeouts across six innings while earning a victory against the Reds on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old couldn't keep the ball in the yard again, but fortunately for him, they were only solo homers. Musgrove has now allowed five balls to leave the yard in his last two starts, however. He's been up and down most of the season, but since June 20, he is 4-2 with a 3.09 ERA. Overall, Musgrove has produced a 4.23 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 104 strikeouts in 121.1 innings this season. He is next scheduled to face the Brewers at home Monday.

  • Brewers' Adrian Houser: Stymies A's in return to rotation

Houser did not factor into the decision against Oakland on Tuesday, pitching five innings and giving up one run on three hits and a walk while striking out six.

Making his first start in over two weeks, Houser held the Athletics to a lone run before departing after five strong innings. He threw 44 of 69 pitches for strikes and allowed only one extra-base hit, a run-scoring double off the bat of Matt Olson in the third inning. Though Houser has been much more effective as a reliever this season, compiling a 1.47 ERA and 0.95 WHIP over 17 appearances, he figures to remain in the rotation for the time being due to a slew of injuries to Brewers starters. The 26-year-old is lined up to face the Cubs at Wrigley Field on Sunday in his next scheduled start.

  • Dodgers' Tony Gonsolin: Picks up save Tuesday

Gonsolin threw four innings and was credited with the save against the Rockies on Tuesday, giving up one earned run on three hits, striking out three with no walks as the Dodgers won 9-4.

Julio Urias started the contest, but Gonsolin wound up tossing the most innings and picking up a seldom-seen four-inning save in just his second big-league appearance of 2019. It remains to be seen how the Dodgers choose to use him since he was a starter for Triple-A Oklahoma City, but this solid relief effort may have bolstered Gonsolin's case for a more extended look coming out of the bullpen.

  • Kyle Freeland SP | COL

Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Blasted by Dodgers

Freeland (2-9) took the loss against the Dodgers on Tuesday, giving up eight runs (seven earned) on seven hits over 3.2 innings in a 9-4 defeat for the Rockies. He walked three and didn't record a strikeout.

Freeland gave up just one unearned run to the Nationals over six frames in his last start, giving some hope he was set to right the ship in what has been a nightmare season. However, he was issued a big setback in this contest, as the Dodgers battered him for three long balls and eight runs before chasing him before he could make it out of the third inning. After posting a 2.85 ERA last season, Freeland hasn't been able to figure it out in 2019, as he's now sporting a 7.48 ERA and a 1.64 WHIP over 77 innings.

  • Drew Smyly SP | CHC

Phillies' Drew Smyly: Fires seven scoreless frames

Smyly (2-5) earned the win Tuesday against the Giants after giving up only four hits and one walk over seven shutout innings. He recorded five strikeouts.

Smyly scattered four singles Tuesday and didn't allow a Giant to reach second base in his first scoreless performance of the season. The 30-year-old has looked great through his first two starts for Philadelphia with one run allowed on eight hits over 13 frames, which should earn him a longer look in the starting rotation. Assuming he remains on turn, Smyly will start Sunday versus the White Sox.

  • Cardinals' Carlos Martinez: Bags 11th save

Martinez picked up the save against the Cubs on Tuesday, throwing 1.1 innings without allowing a baserunner to close out the Cardinals' 2-1 victory. He recorded three strikeouts.

Martinez has been erratic at times since assuming the closer role, but he's settled down of late, as he's yielded just one earned run over his last five appearances, recording four saves over that time to give him 11 on the season in 13 opportunities. The solid run is an encouraging sign he's growing into the role, but he does remain a trade candidate that the Cardinals could wind up dealing before the deadline.
