  • Patrick Corbin SP | TOR

Diamondbacks' Patrick Corbin: Fans six in no-decision

Corbin didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's win over the Rockies, allowing two runs on five hits and four walks while striking out six over 4.1 innings.

Corbin struggled with command in this one, and while it didn't hurt him much on the scoreboard, the lefty couldn't get through the fifth inning after throwing a season-high 108 pitches. It's the first time all season the 28-year-old hasn't worked into the sixth and the four walks matched a season high. Even still, Corbin boasts an elite 11.3 K/9 and an impressive 3.09 ERA, so Tuesday's outing isn't cause for much concern. He lines up for his final start before the All-Star break Sunday against the Braves.

  • Joe Musgrove SP | SD

Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Takes tough loss Tuesday

Musgrove (3-4) took the loss against the Nationals on Tuesday, allowing two runs on five hits across five innings. He recorded nine strikeouts and walked one.

Musgrove gave up a two-run home run to Anthony Rendon in the fifth inning but otherwise kept Washington in check. Unfortunately, he was still saddled with the loss in his return from the disabled list. The 25-year-old has a 3.77 ERA and 1.37 WHIP over 45.1 innings this season, and is slated to finish the first half Sunday against the Brewers.

  • Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Begins throwing program

Alcantara (axillary infection) has begun his throwing program, the Associated Press reports.

It's good to hear he is up and throwing again, but it's still unclear when he could return to the rotation. He is technically eligible to return this weekend against the Phillies, but the Marlins may opt to play it safe an wait until after the All-Star break.

  • Pablo Lopez SP | MIN

Marlins' Pablo Lopez: Handed first MLB loss

Lopez (1-1) gave up five runs on six hits and three walks while striking out six in six innings Tuesday against the Brewers. He took the loss.

The Brewers made their hits count in this one, as they did not homer off Lopez, but were still able to pummel him early for his first MLB loss of his short career. He put things together later on, as he did not allow a hit or a walk in his final four innings. It's a very small sample, but Lopez now has a 6.35 ERA through 17 innings (three starts), so it's hard to say how safe his spot in the rotation will be going forward. Assuming he sticks, his next start won't come until after the All-Star break.

  • Corbin Burnes SP | ARI

Brewers' Corbin Burnes: Logs save in big-league debut

Burnes pitched two perfect innings while striking out one Tuesday in Miami, picking up the first save of his MLB career.

He came on in the eighth inning to make his big-league debut with the Brewers leading 6-4, and the starting pitching prospect had no trouble going two frames while the Brewers tacked on a couple more runs in the ninth to give him even more breathing room. Getting a save won't be a regular thing for Burnes, but capably logging multiple innings seems to be the role the Brewers have in mind for one of their top pitching prospects, at least in the short term. Burnes' name has also come up in trade talks, and if he switched teams, he would likely return to a starting role.

  • Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Lines up to start Friday

Buehler (ribs) is expected to start Friday's game against the Angels, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Buehler completed a five-inning simulated game Sunday and will return to the Dodgers without an additional minor-league rehab start. It remains unclear whether the 23-year-old will face any sort of pitch limit, but the team is likely to be cautious as they approach the All-Star break. Buehler has a 2.63 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with a 54:11 K:BB in nine starts for the Dodgers this season.

  • Robbie Ray SP | SD

Diamondbacks' Robbie Ray: Start moved up, will start in Coors

Ray's next start has been pushed up to Thursday in Coors Field, Jody Jackson of FOX Sports Arizona reports.

This is a brutal blow for Ray's owners, as he was originally scheduled to start Friday in Atlanta, and will now have to navigate the most hitter-friendly park in baseball. Zack Godley was pushed back to Friday due to the fact he came out of the bullpen Sunday.

  • Kenta Maeda SP | NYY

Dodgers' Kenta Maeda: Returns from paternity leave

Maeda was activated from the paternity list Tuesday.

The trip to the paternity list did not end up affecting Maeda's schedule, as he last threw Friday and is set to throw again Wednesday. Edward Paredes was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move.

  • Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Eyeing Friday return

Syndergaard (finger) will toss a bullpen session Wednesday and will be activated to start Friday against the Nationals if the session goes well, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.

Syndergaard has been out since late May after straining a ligament in his right index finger. He performed well in a rehab start Sunday, showcasing his typical velocity and throwing 71 pitches. The Mets are very much in the middle of a lost season and have little reason to rush Syndergaard, so he could end up being bumped back until after the All-Star break, but signs seem to point to him coming back Friday.

  • Johnny Cueto SP | LAA

Giants' Johnny Cueto: Start bumped to Wednesday

Cueto will start Wednesday against the Cubs instead of Tuesday as originally expected, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The reason for the switch is not entirely clear, though Cueto has made just one start since returning from a two-month layoff with an elbow injury, so an extra day of rest certainly couldn't hurt. Derek Holland gets the start Tuesday.
