  • Zack Wheeler SP | PHI

Mets' Zack Wheeler: No-decision in quality start

Wheeler gave up two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out five in 6.1 innings Tuesday against the Blue Jays. He did not factor in the decision.

His bullpen surrendered six runs over the final 1.2 innings, so Wheeler was denied the win. Wheeler has a 2.73 ERA and 27 strikeouts over his last 26.1 innings (four starts). His next outing should come Sunday against the Rays.

  • Zach Eflin SP | BAL

Phillies' Zach Eflin: Leaves early with blister

Eflin (7-2) gave up two runs on five hits and zero walks while striking out six in seven innings Tuesday against the Orioles, picking up his seventh win of the season. He only threw 82 pitches, and could have stayed in longer, but left due to a blister on his right middle finger, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Eflin said he is not concerned about the injury.

He said he cut his fingernails too short, but does not seem concerned about his availability to start Sunday in Pittsburgh. The Phillies could move him to Monday's doubleheader against the Mets if they want to give him an extra day. For what it's worth, Eflin was limited by blisters last season, but this is the first time in 2018 that it has been an issue.

  • Joe Musgrove SP | SD

Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Heading to disabled list

Musgrove was placed on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday with a right index finger infection.

The move is retroactive to June 30, meaning Musgrove will be eligible to return July 10 against the Nationals if he's healthy. The 25-year-old fired seven scoreless innings during Friday's start against the Padres, and the severity of the infection remains unclear. The Pirates have yet to announce who is replacing Musgrove as Wednesday's starting pitcher.

  • Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Returns to DL for rehab assignment

Buehler (ribs) was placed on the 10-day disabled list and will begin a rehab assignment at High-A Rancho Cucamonga on Tuesday, Pedro Moura of The Athletic Los Angeles reports.

The Dodgers initially indicated Buehler was optioned to Rancho Cucamonga after skipping a rehab stint for his return from a right rib microfracture last week, but instead opted to return him to the disabled list for a full-fledged rehab assignment. It's more of a procedural move than anything. The 23-year-old will have at least two minor-league rehab appearances and a return prior to the All-Star break appears possible, but with the rest of the Dodgers' starting rotation currently healthy the team could opt to take a more cautious approach this time around.

  • Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA

Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: Lasts five innings Tuesday

Hendricks allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk across five innings during Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Tigers. He struck out two and did not factor in the decision.

Hendricks totaled only 78 pitches (54 strikes) before being pulled in favor of pinch hitter Tommy La Stella in the bottom of the fifth inning, who started a three-run rally and which got Hendricks off the hook for the loss. The 28-year-old Hendricks has a 1-4 record with 6.75 ERA and 1.67 WHIP in six starts since the start of June, and is currently scheduled to take the mound at San Francisco next Monday.

  • Pablo Lopez SP | MIN

Marlins' Pablo Lopez: Set for Thursday's start

Lopez will take the mound against Washington on Thursday, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.

Lopez earned a victory during his major-league debut against the Mets on Saturday, allowing just two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out five over six innings. With Sandy Alcantara hitting the disabled list due to an infection, Lopez will remain in the rotation for the time being.

  • Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Hits DL with infection

Alcantara was placed on the 10-day disabled list due to a right axillary infection, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.

Alcantara will miss at least one start due to this issue. Expect an update on his status once the team establishes a timetable for his activation. With Alcantara on the shelf, Pablo Lopez now looks like the leading candidate to take the hill for the Marlins when a fifth starter is needed Thursday in Washington.

  • Johnny Cueto SP | LAA

Giants' Johnny Cueto: Set to return Thursday

Cueto (elbow) will be reinstated from the DL on Thursday prior to his start against the Cardinals, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Cueto wound up requiring just two minor-league rehab starts with Triple-A Sacramento after spending nearly two months on the disabled list with an elbow injury. His second outing with Sacramento lasted four innings, so expect to see him on some sort of pitch count during his first game back with the Giants. With Cueto returning, Derek Holland will transition to a bullpen role.

  • Rockies' Antonio Senzatela: Recalled prior to Tuesday's start

Senzatela was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque ahead of his start against the Giants on Tuesday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

As expected, Senzatela will take the mound for a spot start after tossing seven scoreless innings in a Triple-A tilt against Sacramento on Thursday. The right-hander has appeared in 10 games for the Rockies this year, logging a dismal 6.23 ERA and 1.67 across 17.1 innings of relief.

  • Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Completes sim game Tuesday

Syndergaard (finger) tossed a 50-pitch simulated game in Port St. Lucie on Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Syndergaard's next step will likely be a rehab assignment, which could potentially happen this weekend if his finger feels healthy Wednesday morning. If he's not cleared to head down to the minors -- or activated outright -- in the coming days, don't expect to see him back with the Mets until after the All-Star break.
