The 24-year-old righty engaged in a pitchers' duel with Jose Soriano in each hurler's 2025 debut, but Cannon was lifted after 85 pitches (53 strikes) and had to watch Mike Clevinger give up the game's only run in the eighth inning. Cannon held his own as a rookie last year, but his fantasy ceiling is limited given his inability to miss bats consistently and his team context. He lines up to make his next start on the road next weekend in Detroit.

Buehler (0-1) came away with the loss against the Rangers on Saturday. He allowed four runs on seven hits while striking out three across 4.1 innings.

Buehler's Red Sox debut got off to a rough start when he gave up two runs in the first inning. He steadied himself over the next two frames before giving up a solo home run to Adolis Garcia in the fourth inning and allowing a final run in the fifth. Fried didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 20-9 win over the Brewers, giving up six runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out four.

While the left-hander got more than enough offense to record a win in his Yankees debut, the New York defense committed five errors on the day, resulting in an elevated pitch count for Fried -- he exited after 94 pitches (56 strikes). Fried failed to last five innings in either of his first two outings of 2024, so slow starts to a season are nothing new for the 31-year-old. He'll try to provide a little more length in his next start, which is scheduled to come next weekend in Pittsburgh.

Falter did not factor into the decision in Saturday's 5-4 extra-innings loss to the Marlins, allowing two runs on seven hits and no walks with four strikeouts over six innings.

Falter started strong with four scoreless innings but exited in a 2-2 tie after giving up runs in the fifth and sixth frames. The 27-year-old was efficient, throwing 56 strikes on 87 pitches and generating nine whiffs. He's slated for a tough matchup with the Yankees next weekend.

Verlander did not factor into the decision in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Reds, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk with five strikeouts over five innings.

Verlander induced 10 swinging strikes on 83 pitches before departing in a 2-2 tie. The 42-year-old looked healthy after an encouraging spring, during which he posted a 3.43 ERA and 1.24 WHIP across 21 innings. He lines up to make his Giants home debut next weekend against the Mariners.

The Marlins optioned Bellozo to Triple-A Jacksonville following Saturday's 5-4 extra innings win over the Pirates, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

Bellozo started Saturday's contest and came away with a no-decision after allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out four across 4.1 innings. Miami went through six relievers during the game, so Bellozo's move back to Triple-A will allow the Marlins to replenish their bullpen.

Lodolo allowed two early runs but rebounded to deliver a quality start, facing the minimum over his final three frames. While eight whiffs on 86 pitches is underwhelming, the southpaw boasts a career 10.7 K/9 over his first three seasons and should rack up more strikeouts moving forward. He's slated for a road matchup against the Brewers next week.

Cortes (0-1) took the loss Saturday, getting hammered for eight runs on six hits -- five of them home runs -- and five walks over two-plus innings in a 20-9 rout by the Yankees. He struck out two.

Dealt by New York to Milwaukee over the winter as part of the package for Devin Williams, Cortes saw his first three pitches leave the yard in his return to Yankee Stadium as Paul Goldschmidt, Cody Bellinger and Aaron Judge went back-to-back-to-back. Littell (0-1) took the loss against the Rockies on Saturday, allowing one run on four hits and no walks with seven strikeouts across six innings.

Littell recorded 14 whiffs on 87 pitches but exited with a 1-0 deficit despite delivering a quality start. It was a strong showing for the 29-year-old after surrendering 12 runs over 13.1 spring innings, and he lines up for a road matchup with the Rangers next weekend.
