Mathews (0-1) took the loss Saturday as the Cardinals fell 5-1 to the Blue Jays, allowing two runs on six hits and three walks over five-plus innings. He struck out three.

In his big-league debut, Mathews kept things close but got little help from his offense, tossing 63 of 97 pitches for strikes and getting pulled after giving up a bunt single to Daulton Varsho to lead off the sixth. The Cards have yet to confirm whether the 25-year-old southpaw will stick around in the rotation, but with Dustin May likely to be moved by Monday's trade deadline, a permanent spot could be about to open up. If he stays on turn, Mathews lines up to make his next start at home next weekend against the Rockies.

Rasmussen (10-5) earned the win Saturday against the White Sox, allowing no runs on four hits and one walk in six innings. He struck out 10.

Rasmussen had the White Sox bats out of sorts Saturday, generating an impressive 18 whiffs en route to registering his second-most punchouts of 2026. The right-hander coughed up 11 runs over his first two outings of July but has since steadied the ship, giving up just a pair of runs across his last three appearances (18 innings) while producing a 14:3 K:BB during that span. Rasmussen will bring a stellar 2.91 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 122:20 K:BB over 117.1 frames into his next scheduled start at pitcher friendly T-Mobile Park in Seattle.

Harrison (forearm) is expected to return from the 15-day injured list to make his next start for the Brewers during their upcoming home series with the Pirates that runs from Monday through Thursday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

On the shelf since July 11 due to left forearm extensor tendinopathy, Harrison showed well during his lone rehab appearance with High-A Wisconsin on Thursday, when he allowed one hit and three walks while striking out five batters across 5.2 scoreless innings. Assuming he's able to throw a bullpen session Sunday without issue, Harrison could re-enter the rotation as soon as Tuesday. Assuming the Brewers proceed with a five-man rotation once Harrison is activated, one of Robert Gasser, Shane Drohan or Brandon Sproat would most likely move to the bullpen or head to the minors.

Schultz (3-8) took the loss Saturday against the Rays, allowing one run on three hits and no walks in five relief innings. He struck out four.

The White Sox chose to use Schultz behind an opener for the first time this year, and the move helped yield one of the hurler's best outings of the season. It was just the fourth time in 14 appearances that he's surrendered one or zero runs, so it wouldn't be surprising if Chicago maintained a similar approach for the left-hander's next scheduled showing against the division-rival Guardians. Through 65 innings this season, Schultz has a 5.82 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and a concerning 58:31 K:BB.

Ritchie was scratched from his scheduled start with Triple-A Gwinnett and is expected to be called up to start for Atlanta in Sunday's home game against Washington, Grant McAuley of the Marietta Daily Journal reports.

Reynaldo Lopez was scratched from Saturday's start with Atlanta due to left knee inflammation, prompting the team to move Martin Perez up a day in the pitching schedule. Ritchie looks poised to end up filling in for Perez on Sunday for what will be his 14th appearance and eighth start with Atlanta. Ritchie owns a 4.50 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 49:33 K:BB over 54 innings during his first big-league season.

The Athletics optioned Morales to Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday.

Morales had most recently been called up from Las Vegas on July 24 and was tagged for eight runs (seven earned) over two innings against Detroit on Friday. He's struggled mightily during his time with the big-league club this season, posting a 14.06 ERA and 2.56 WHIP with more walks (14) than strikeouts (13) over 16 frames spanning five appearances (two starts). With Morales' demotion to the minors, Ben Bowden was selected from Las Vegas to take a spot in the A's bullpen.

The Angels optioned Johnson to the minors following his start Friday versus Milwaukee, Michael Huntley of MLB.com reports.

Johnson took the loss Friday, allowing five runs over 4.1 innings. He also struggled in his previous start, when he gave up a season-worst eight runs over 3.1 frames in a loss to the Giants. To fill Johnson's spot on the 26-man roster, the Angels summoned Brett Kerry from Triple-A Salt Lake.

The Red Sox sent Ingrassia to the Tigers on Saturday as the player to be named later to complete the Jahmai Jones trade, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Ingrassia has spent the entire season with Boston's High-A affiliate, posting a 3.27 ERA and 1.18 WHIP over 44 innings. He'll likely remain at High-A to begin his tenure with the Tigers, but the 24-year-old southpaw could reach Double-A Erie by the end of the year.

The Rangers selected Kingham's contract from Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday.

Kingham has posted a 6.99 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in 46.1 innings since signing a minor-league deal with the Rangers in May, but he'll now join the major-league bullpen to replace Luis Curvelo. Kingham, 29, will be making his MLB debut whenever he gets into a game.

Soriano was scratched from his scheduled start Saturday against the Brewers.

Soriano isn't dealing with any sort of injury, but the Angels will "take a prudent approach" and keep the right-hander on the bench as they consider trade offers from other teams ahead of Monday's deadline. Brent Suter will now take the mound to begin a bullpen game Saturday.
