Wicks (oblique) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.

The left-hander landed on the shelf in mid-June with a Grade 2 right oblique strain, and he hasn't recovered as quickly as the Cubs had hoped. Wicks will be eligible to return in mid-August, but he may need to ramp up his throwing soon in order to have a chance of avoiding a longer absence.

Williams (elbow) resumed playing catch from 60 feet earlier this month but remains without a clear timeline for a return from the 15-day injured list, MLB.com reports.

Before landing on the IL on June 4 with a right flexor muscle strain, Williams had been a pleasant surprise for the Nationals this season with a 5-0 record, 2.22 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 47:16 K:BB in 56.2 innings. While the strong form he displayed prior to getting hurt should be enough for him to reclaim a rotation spot once he's activated from the IL, Williams' return still looks to be multiple weeks down the road. He'll eventually need to resume throwing off a mound and facing hitters in live batting practice before embarking on a minor-league rehab assignment prior to being reinstated from the IL.

Mize (hamstring) has been ruled out through the Tigers' upcoming road trip which ends July 25, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Mize has been sidelined for all of July with a strained left hamstring. Manager A.J. Hinch said recently that the hope is the hurler will be ready to throw off a mound soon, and the skipper also indicated Mize will need to make at least one rehab start before being activated. The Tigers play 12 straight games coming out of the All-Star break before a day off July 31, so the team will need to add a fifth starter soon, with Matt Manning being the most likely candidate to fill in for Mize.

Nelson will start Arizona's series opener on the road against the Cubs on Friday, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Nelson will get the ball first as the Diamondbacks come out of the All-Star break, carrying a 4.98 ERA and 6.1 K/9 over 86.2 innings in 17 appearances, including 15 starts, this season. With Jordan Montgomery (knee) returning to the rotation this week and Eduardo Rodriguez (shoulder) and Merrill Kelly (shoulder) on the horizon, Nelson may need to impress in his next few starts to solidify his spot in the team's starting rotation.

Luzardo (back) has been participating in bike workouts and working on forearm and shoulder strengthening in recent weeks, MLB.com reports.

While Luzardo hasn't been shut down from physical activity since landing on the injured list June 22 with a lumbar stress reaction, he's yet to resume throwing after nearly a month. The Marlins transferred him to the 60-day injured list a day after placing him on the 15-day IL, so the club is already preparing for his absence to extend into the second half of August. A clearer target date for his return won't be available until he's ready to begin a minor-league rehab assignment.

Garrett is considered asymptomatic while he continues to rehab his strained left forearm at the Marlins' facility in Jupiter, Fla., MLB.com reports.

Garrett -- who was placed on the injured list June 23 -- is focused on strengthening his forearm for now before he kicks off a throwing program. The southpaw still looks to be multiple weeks away from a return, and given their place in the standings, the 33-63 Marlins are in no hurry to bring Garrett back.

Astros general manager Dana Brown said in an interview Thursday on "The Sean Salisbury Show" that Garcia (elbow) will resume throwing off the mound in a couple days, Michael Schwab of The Juice Box Journal reports.

Garcia was pulled off his rehab assignment after not responding well during his most recent rehab start July 4, but he was never shut down from throwing and is almost ready to get back on the bump. The right-hander is making his way back from Tommy John surgery, and once he's cleared to resume his rehab assignment, he'll likely need multiple starts in the minors before becoming an option for the Astros rotation.

Senga (shoulder/triceps) is expected to make another rehab start with Triple-A Syracuse this weekend, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

After building up to 4.2 innings and 67 pitches in his most recent rehab outing with Syracuse this past Sunday, Senga looked like he might have had a chance at making his next start with the big club, but the Mets will instead send him out for one more tune-up appearance in the minors. Assuming Senga is able to build on his pitch count and experiences no setbacks during his upcoming minor-league outing, he could return from the 60-day injured list to make his 2024 Mets debut during the club's home series with Atlanta that begins July 25. Senga was placed on the IL coming out of spring training with a strained right shoulder, then battled triceps inflammation during the rehab process that ended up setting him back further.

Cannon is scheduled to start Saturday's game against the Royals in Kansas City, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

In his final appearance before the All-Star break last Friday versus the Pirates, Cannon worked out of the bullpen as a piggyback pitcher behind starter Garrett Crochet, tossing six innings while allowing four earned runs. Cannon will now take back a rotation spot in the White Sox's opening series of the second half, as he'll be picking up his ninth start of the season Friday. The White Sox have already confirmed Cannon for another start for next Thursday in Texas, but it's unclear if he'll stick around in the rotation thereafter.

The Marlins could wait until at least Sunday to recall Meyer from Triple-A Jacksonville, as they would gain an extra year of club control by doing so, Ely Sussman of FishonFirst.com reports.

After throwing five-plus innings in three big-league starts to begin the season, Meyer was optioned to Jacksonville on April 15 and had been capped at four innings or less in his first 10 starts for the affiliate. He threw a minor-league season-high six innings for Jacksonville on July 9, then logged five scoreless frames July 14, so he looks to be fully stretched out at this point. Given the incentives in place, it's quite possible Meyer rejoins the big-league rotation for good next week.
