Trevor Rogers SP | BAL
Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Still not throwing
Rogers (right lat tear) is still not throwing as of Friday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Rogers has a partial tear in his non-throwing shoulder, which has been the reason he hasn't been able to resume a throwing program over the past five weeks. He has been attempting to keep his left arm strong during this shutdown period, but Rogers will likely require multiple rehab starts when he is cleared, since his last rehab start was June 5.

Brayan Bello RP | BOS
Red Sox's Brayan Bello: Goes on paternity leave
Bello was placed on the paternity list Friday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.
Bello's girlfriend is due to give birth, so he will understandably be away from the club for a few days. The right-hander will be back with the Red Sox in time for his next scheduled outing Tuesday against Atlanta.

Johnny Cueto SP | LAA
Marlins' Johnny Cueto: Starting Saturday vs. Rockies
Cueto will get the start Saturday against the Rockies, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
The veteran most recently pitched three scoreless innings out of the bullpen July 16 in Baltimore, so he should be stretched out enough to qualify for the win if he pitches well Saturday. However, Cueto has 14 strikeouts in 29 minor-league innings and one strikeout in four innings in the big leagues, so he will be attempting to get by on weak contact and he has limited fantasy upside due to his lack of strikeouts. Cueto could transition back to a long-relief role when Eury Perez is brought back from Triple-A, perhaps as early as next week.

Jackson Wolf SP | DET
Padres' Jackson Wolf: Could make debut Saturday
Wolf could make his major-league debut for the Padres on Saturday in Detroit, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
The Padres currently don't have a starter listed for Saturday's contest and Wolf was spotted in their clubhouse Friday, which would seem to all but confirm he'll be the guy to take the ball. Wolf has posted a 3.39 ERA and 104:20 K:BB over 85 innings covering 17 starts with Double-A San Antonio this season. It's possible he could make additional starts, depending on the availability of Michael Wacha (shoulder).

Jairo Iriarte SP | CHW
Padres' Jairo Iriarte: Easing into things at Double-A
Iriarte has struck out seven in four perfect innings across his first two appearances out of the bullpen for Double-A San Antonio.
Iriarte was one of the better pitching prospects in a shallow Padres system entering the year, but he was good enough in 14 starts for High-A Fort Wayne that he is now one of the better pitchers in all the minors. The 6-foot-2 righty added three ticks of velocity to his fastball over the offseason, according to Eric Longenhagen of FanGraphs, and he now sits in the mid-90s with a terrific changeup and slider. The lanky 21-year-old logged a 3.10 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 77 strikeouts in 61 innings at High-A before getting promoted to Double-A on July 14. He has been working in relief since the promotion, so it's possible the Padres are preparing him to join the big-league bullpen down the stretch. In the long run though, he would appear to have the arsenal to start in the majors if his command holds up.

Blake Snell SP | LAD
Padres' Blake Snell: Hit with tough loss
Snell (6-8) took the loss Thursday, allowing one run on five hits and seven walks over five innings against the Blue Jays. He struck out four.
Snell managed to limit the Blue Jays to one run over five frames despite issuing a season-high seven walks. However, the Padres' offense was unable to back him with any run support, and the lefty went on to suffer his eighth loss of the season. Snell has allowed only one run over four July starts, lowering his season ERA to 2.67 in the process.

Chris Bassitt SP | BAL
Blue Jays' Chris Bassitt: Hurls six shutout innings
Bassitt (10-5) earned the win Thursday, allowing four hits and one walk over six scoreless innings against the Padres. He struck out five.
Bassitt retired 10 of the first 12 batters he faced and never really found himself in trouble outside of the sixth inning, when he walked Juan Soto to open the frame before giving up a single to Xander Bogaerts. However, the right-hander was quickly able to pitch his way out of the jam en route to his 10th win of the season. Bassitt has now won his last three decisions (spanning five starts), allowing two earned runs or fewer in each of those wins.

Alex Cobb SP | DET
Giants' Alex Cobb: Allows five runs in loss
Cobb (6-3) took the loss Thursday, allowing five runs on nine hits and four walks over 4.1 innings against the Reds. He did not record any strikeouts.
Cobb struggled with his command early, issuing three walks over the first three innings before surrendering a two-run blast to Luke Maile with no outs in the bottom of the third. The right-hander would get tagged for another two runs in the fourth after giving up a leadoff double to Jonathan India to start the inning and would eventually get handed his first loss since May 28. Cobb had allowed two earned runs or fewer in each of his last four starts coming in and actually failed to record a strikeout Wednesday for the first time this season.
-
Andrew Abbott SP | CIN
Reds' Andrew Abbott: Dominant over eight shutout frames
Abbott (5-2) earned the win Thursday, allowing one hit and two walks over eight scoreless innings against the Giants. He struck out six.
Abbot was spectacular, allowing only three baserunners while pitching a career-high eight innings. It was the fourth time this season he's thrown five or more shutout innings. and the second time he's allowed just one hit. The left-hander has won five of nine starts to begin his rookie campaign and lowered his ERA to 2.10.
-
Zac Gallen SP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Zac Gallen: Strikes out five over seven frames
Gallen did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing three runs on five hits over seven innings against Atlanta. He struck out five.
Gallen was perfect through five innings before surrendering a solo home run to Orlando Arcia in the bottom of the sixth. The right-hander was again victimized by the long ball in the seventh, this one coming off the bat of Matt Olson for a two-run shot as Atlanta fought its way back. Gallen has now allowed at least three runs in four of his last five starts, going 2-2 over that stretch. He's also surrendered at least one home run in each of those four outings.
