Allen went 1-for-4 with a run in a loss to the Reds on Thursday.

Allen had been summoned from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday, but Thursday marked his first taste of big-league game action since May 1. The 25-year-old infielder drew the start at shortstop Thursday, but it remains to be seen how much playing time the typically light-hitting Allen will see down the stretch with the A's expected to give Jacob Wilson a long look.

McKinstry went 3-for-4 with a double in Thursday's 3-0 loss to the Angels.

McKinstry was the only Detroit player with multiple hits, and the lack of production around him prevented him from accumulating any counting stats. While the utility player can pop on occasion, McKinstry is generally not much of an offensive threat, and his lack of consistent playing time limits his fantasy ceiling.

Seager went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 2-1 win against the White Sox.

Seager took Nick Nastrini deep in the fourth inning for his 30th homer of the season and the 200th of his career. Seager is the third Rangers' player with 30 homers in each of his first three seasons with the team, joining Alex Rodriguez and Adrian Beltre. Seager has been fantastic in August, with 11 home runs in 24 games. His 11 homers this month are the second most by any player in a month this season, trailing only Aaron Judge's efforts in May and August.

The Red Sox placed Hamilton on the 10-day injured list Thursday due to a left index finger fracture, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Hamilton suffered the injury when he was hit by a pitch in Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays and subsequent X-rays revealed the fracture. Per Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic, Hamilton has been told it's typically a 4-to-6 week injury, but he's hoping to be back in 2-to-3 weeks if his pain tolerance allows. Nick Sogard is taking Hamilton's spot on the roster and will be an option for starts at second base along with Romy Gonzalez and Mickey Gasper.

Neto went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 3-0 win over the Tigers.

Neto took Keider Montero deep in the fifth inning for this 20th homer this season. Neto became the ninth player this season to eclipse 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases. The 23-year-old joined Jim Fregosi, who hit 22 homers in 1970, as the only Angels shortstops with 20 home runs in a season in franchise history. Neto posted a .685 OPS as a rookie last season but has come on strong in his sophomore campaign with a .254/.318/.453 slash line through 130 games.

Wilson isn't in the Athletics' lineup for Thursday's game against the Reds.

Wilson has gone 1-for-6 with an RBI and a run scored in two games since returning from the injured list, and he'll now take a seat Thursday while Nick Allen starts at shortstop and bats ninth.

Volpe went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in a loss to the Nationals on Wednesday.

The Yankees were mostly quieted by MacKenzie Gore and a trio of Washington relievers, but Volpe did well in collecting a pair of hits. The shortstop also recorded a stolen base, giving him 25 on the season -- one more than he recorded as a rookie last year. In additional to the theft total, Volpe has improved his batting average from .209 to .252 and reduced his strikeout rate from 27.8 percent to 22.0 percent, though he's also displayed less power, as he has just 11 homers through 133 games after going deep 21 times in 159 contests in 2023.

Crawford, who was activated from the injured list earlier in the day, went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run in a win over the Rays on Wednesday.

The veteran shortstop slotted into the leadoff spot in his return from a fractured pinkie finger and was able to make an impact during his one trip on the basepaths. Crawford had gone just 1-for-12 over his first four post-All-Star-break games before getting hurt, so he'll undoubtedly need to snap out of that funk soon to retain his place atop the order, especially with its most recent occupant, Victor Robles, exponentially outperforming him offensively.

Hamilton was removed from Wednesday's 3-0 win over Toronto after a pitch hit him on the fingers while attempting to bunt, MLB.com reports. He finished the game 0-for-4 with a run scored.

Hamilton reached base on the bunt attempt via a fielding error by catcher Alejandro Kirk and scored on Tyler O'Neill's home run. Hamilton was then replaced by Mickey Gasper in the field for the ninth inning. Boston manager Alex Cora did not have an update following the game, but the Red Sox should have more information Thursday.

Witt went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 7-5 loss to the Guardians.

Witt's power has come back after a brief quiet stretch in the middle of August. He has three homers and two doubles over his last five games, going 7-for-19 (.368) in that span. The shortstop is up to 28 homers, 95 RBI, 114 runs scored, 27 stolen bases and a .346/.399/.618 slash line through 134 contests. With a month to go, Witt looks likely to surpass his career highs of 30 homers and 96 RBI from 158 games last season.
