Seager went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 6-3 victory over Toronto.

Seager hit his AL-leading 38th and 39th doubles in Tuesday's contest. The nine-year veteran has played his role in keeping the Rangers afloat in the playoff race by swinging a hot bat since returning from a sprained thumb Aug. 2. Over that span, Seager has hit .324 with 10 doubles, 15 home runs, 31 RBI and 32 runs in 145 at-bats.

Anderson isn't in the White Sox's lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Royals, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.comreports.

After a 2-for-3 performance in Game 1, Anderson will get a breather to close out Tuesday's twin bill. Zach Remillard will replace Anderson at shortstop and bat ninth.

Volpe isn't in the Yankees' lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Red Sox.

Volpe finished Game 1 having gone 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout, and he'll now take a seat after mustering just two hits across his last seven games. Oswald Peraza (knee) will draw the start at shortstop while Isiah Kiner-Falefa gets the nod at third base.

Reyes (elbow) was activated from the 10-day injured list and is starting at second base while hitting seventh in Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Yankees.

We already knew Reyes was going to be activated midway through Tuesday's twin bill. He missed a little over two weeks with left elbow inflammation. Prior to the injury, Reyes had been playing pretty regularly, logging a .303/.340/.408 slash line, two home runs and five steals in 51 games.

Smith is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Astros.

Smith is hitting .278 with one home run, two doubles and nine strikeouts in five games since getting recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Sept. 5. He could continue to see fairly steady work down the stretch, but Smith's elevated strikeout rate makes him a very volatile option over the rest of the season.

Reyes (elbow) is expected to be activated from the injured list prior to the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Yankees, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Reyes had been slated to return Monday before that game got rained out. He will not be activated for the makeup game Tuesday afternoon, but it appears he'll be added prior to the nightcap. Reyes has been out since late August with left elbow inflammation and could see some starts at second base down the stretch.

Story is not in the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader versus the Yankees, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Ceddanne Rafaela is at shortstop for the Red Sox in the afternoon tilt. Story -- who has just a .509 OPS in his first 27 games this season -- will likely be back in the lineup for the nightcap.

Celesten (hamstring) is nearing a return to game action in a "bridge league" between the Arizona Complex League and instructional league, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Celesten has been sidelined since June due to a Grade 2 hamstring strain. Any at-bats the young shortstop can fit in before the end of the year would certainly be an added bonus, although the stats in the bridge league won't be officially tracked.

Witt went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, a run scored and two steals in Sunday's loss to the Blue Jays.

Witt and Edward Olivares were the only two Royals' hitters with multiple hits on the day. Witt came into Sunday's contest just 3-for-27 over his last six games but did have his second multi-hit effort in eight games this month. His steal total is now up to 41, which is currently tied with CJ Abrams for the fourth-most in baseball. He became just the second Royals' player ever to record 40 stolen bases at just age 23 or younger. Witt's been one of the few bright spots in what's been an otherwise disappointing season for the franchise. He's now slashing .272/.312/.494 with 28 home runs, 86 RBI, 80 runs and a 31:112 BB:K in 613 plate appearances.

Seager went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and an additional run scored in Sunday's 9-4 win over the Athletics.

Seager has gone 9-for-38 (.237) over his first nine games in September, but five of his hits in that span have been homers. He's also produced seven RBI. It's not all that surprising that his consistency at the plate has faltered recently -- he's still hitting an extraordinary .336 on the year through 99 contests while boasting a 1.049 OPS. He hasn't hit better than .307 in any of the previous six years. The shortstop has reached the 30-homer mark for the second year in a row while adding 87 RBI, 76 runs scored, 36 doubles and two stolen bases.
