    Mateo came to the plate with two on and one out during the seventh inning, and he delivered with a three-run home run to start the comeback and bring Baltimore within three runs. Despite hitting his third home run of the season, the 1-for-5 effort dropped the 26-year-old's average to .207, and he's also struck out 15 times in his past 10 games.

    Bogaerts went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a hit by pitch during Friday's 12-8 loss to the Orioles.

    The 29-year-old broke things open early with a 423-foot, three-run blast to left field during the opening frame, but Boston's bullpen was unable to maintain the lead. Bogaerts entered Friday's contest with a .212 average and only two RBI over his past nine games, but he delivered his fifth homer and first three-RBI effort of the season in the defeat.

    Anderson went 3-for-5 with a run scored Thursday against Boston.

    Anderson has hit .419 across his last 18 starts, highlighted by 11 multi-hit performances. In that span, he has also chipped in 10 RBI, 10 runs scored and four stolen bases. Anderson has had an exceptional start to the season, maintaining a .363/.401/.516 slash line across 167 plate appearances.

    Story went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, four RBI, a walk and a stolen base in Thursday's 16-7 win over the White Sox.

    Story singled in a run in the first inning off Dallas Keuchel and got to the veteran hurler for a three-run blast to left field in the second. This was Story's third multi-hit game over his past seven contests, upping his batting average to .232 on the season. Over the weeklong hot streak, he is slashing .345/.394/1.069 with seven homers, 21 RBI and two stolen bases.

    Guardians' Yu Chang: Designated for assignment

    Chang was designated for assignment by the Guardians on Thursday.

    Chang was reinstated from the 10-day injured list May 13, but he appeared in just one game since then. The 26-year-old will now lose his spot on the 40-man roster to make room for Oscar Gonzalez, whose contract was selected by Cleveland on Thursday. Chang played in 89 games for the Guardians last year, and he'll likely report to Triple-A Columbus if he goes unclaimed on waivers.

  • Rays' Wander Franco: Snaps out of slump

    Franco went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI on Wednesday against the Marlins.

    Franco did most of his damage in the opening frame, smacking an RBI double and coming around to score. It marked his first multi-hit effort since May 9, during which time he hit just .051 with one RBI and three runs scored in 11 starts. Overall, Franco has maintained a .267/.294/.422 line across 170 plate appearances.

    Pena isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Guardians.

    Pena will get a breather after he hit .357 with a homer, three runs, two RBI and two stolen bases while starting in the last eight games. Aledmys Diaz is starting at shortstop and batting sixth.

    Crawford went 2-for-4 in a loss to the Athletics on Tuesday.

    Crawford's second multi-hit effort in the last four games pushed his season average back over the .290 mark (.291) after a brief two-game dip. The veteran shortstop has reached safely in nine of the last 12 games, but he still sports just a .213 average and .530 OPS in that span.

    Anderson was one of the few bright spots for the White Sox in a blowout loss. He doubled to lead off the fourth frame and came around to score on a Jose Abreu home run. One inning later, he delivered an RBI knock of his own. Since May 1, Anderson has notched 11 multi-hit performances across 19 starts. In that span, he has maintained a .407 average with 12 RBI, 12 runs scored and four stolen bases.
