Diamondbacks SS Nick Ahmed homers among four hits in win
Shorstop Nick Ahmed got the Diamondbacks on the board early, as he belted a solo home run in the third inning of Monday's 6-4 win over the Nationals. Ahemed, who went 4 for 4 and scored twice, cranked out his seventh home run of the season.
Ahmed had been struggling at the plate, as the four hits on Monday matches the total from his previous seven games. The four-hit game was the first of his young career.

Marlins bench 2B Dee Gordon for Sunday game
Marlins second baseman Dee Gordon is catching his first break since coming off the disabled list on Tuesday. He is out of the lineup Sunday against San Diego. Miguel Rojas is set to man the position instead.
Gordon is in a 1-for-15 slump that has shrunk his average to .330, its lowest point since April 11.

Fresh off of the disabled list, Marlins second baseman Dee Gordon went right back to making an impact on the basepaths in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Nationals. Gordon went 2 for 3 with a triple and a sacrifice bunt.
He also scored a run and continues to lead the league in hits with 124, despite missing more than two weeks with a thumb injury. Gordon is batting .294 over his past nine games.

Marlins reinstate Dee Gordon from DL; place Solano on paternity list
The Marlins removed second baseman Dee Gordon from the disabled list Tuesday, the team announced.
Gordon had been out since July 11 with a thumb injury. He will bat first and play second in Tuesday's game against the Nationals, reports MLB.com.
With Gordon back on the roster, the team placed infielder Donovan Solano on the paternity list.

Marlins 2B Dee Gordon plays rehab game, eyes upcoming return
Marlins second baseman Dee Gordon went 1 for 4 in a Class A rehab game on Monday.
Gordon started at second base and hit out of the leadoff spot as he continues to work his way back from the thumb injury that landed him on the 15-day disabled list.
Gordon could be ready to return to the team on Tuesday.
"I'm not the training staff -- I'm going to go with whatever the organization wants me to do," Gordon said. "But I feel good and it was good to get back out there today."

Marlins shortstop Miguel Rojas left Sunday's game against the Padres because of a right shoulder strain, according to the Miami Herald.
Rojas was 1 for 2 with a walk before leaving the game. He is listed as day-to-day.

Marlins 2B Dee Gordon might be back Tuesday
Marlins leadoff hitter Dee Gordon could return to action as early as Tuesday against visiting Washington, according to MLB.com.
Gordon, who has been out for two weeks with a thumb injury, has been progressing in batting practice.
"It's possible, yes," Dan Jennings said. "He's not feeling any discomfort. Now we just have got to get him into a game and see how that feels to swing it live."
