Perdomo isn't in the Diamondbacks' lineup Friday against the Dodgers, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Perdomo has reached base safely eight times over 13 plate appearances this season, but will get a day off Friday against Clayton Kershaw. Nick Ahmed will take over for him at shortstop, batting seventh.

Rojas (groin) remains absent from the lineup Friday against the Diamondbacks.

Rojas has been sidelined all week after tweaking his left groin on a play in the field Sunday, though he did participate in a pregame workout Thursday and figures to do the same Friday. Chris Taylor will draw another start at shortstop and hit eighth versus Arizona.

Bogaerts is batting leadoff Friday against Atlanta.

Trent Grisham will hit eighth in what has been the Padres' standard lineup versus left-handed pitchers. Bogaerts brings a stellar 1.273 OPS into Friday night's matchup with southpaw Jared Shuster and the current NL East leaders.

Witt isn't in the Royals' lineup for Friday's game against the Giants.

After breaking a cold streak by going 2-for-5 with a home run Thursday, Witt will get a day to rest Friday. The young infielder will yield shortstop duties to Nicky Lopez, who will bat seventh.

Smith (face) is back in the Rangers' lineup Friday versus the Cubs.

It's his first start since he had to exit Monday's game against the Orioles when he was hit in the face by a pitch. Smith will play left field and bat ninth versus Marcus Stroman.

Cruz (face) is in the Pirates' lineup for Friday's home opener against the White Sox.

Cruz had to leave Wednesday's game with a facial injury following a collision with Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers. However, it looks like he's ready to go following Thursday's off day. Cruz is 6-for-23 with one home run and one stolen base in the early going.

Perdomo went 0-for-1 with two walks and a run scored in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Dodgers.

After leading off the sixth inning with a walk, Perdomo scooted home on Josh Rojas' double, giving him four runs scored over the last two games. He's also taken a team-high four walks through five games. The switch-hitting shortstop has been in the lineup against righties, while Nick Ahmed starts against southpaws. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo hasn't indicated shortstop will be a strict platoon, and the distribution of playing time could be chalked up to bringing Ahmed along slowly after last year's shoulder surgery.

Arcia went 3-for-4 with a homer, a double, a walk, two total runs and two total RBI in a 7-6 win against the Padres on Thursday.

Arcia produced Atlanta's second run with a solo shot off Blake Snell in the third inning, and he capped the contest with a walkoff single in the ninth. The shortstop has gone deep in two of his past three games, and he's hit safely in six of his seven contests so far this season. Arcia has never hit more than 15 homers in a big-league campaign, though he did post a career-best .172 ISO and 7.5 percent barrel rate last year. His earning of Atlanta's starting shortstop job out of spring training was a bit of a surprise, but Arcia has justified the decision thus far, slashing .370/.414/.667 with two homers, four RBI and seven runs through seven games.

Witt went 2-for-5 with a solo home run Thursday against the Blue Jays.

Witt took Trevor Richards yard in the eighth inning to tally his first homer, and extra-base hit of the season. He's had a slow start to the campaign overall, as he has just four hits across 29 plate appearances. Positively, he's struck out only five times in that span, which would be a major improvement on the 21.4 percent strikeout rate he posted as a rookie.

Rojas (groin), who isn't in the lineup Thursday in Arizona, said he hopes to return to the Dodgers' lineup Friday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Rojas has been held out of action since he tweaked his left groin Sunday while attempting to start a double play, but he's feeling better now following a few days of rest. Chris Taylor will again fill in at shortstop in Thursday's series opener against the Diamondbacks.
