Miguel Rojas SS | LAD
Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Hitless in return
Rojas (leg) started at shortstop for the Dodgers on Friday and went 0-for-4 in a 6-4 victory versus the Rockies.
Rojas was out of the lineup Wednesday and Thursday while tending to a sore left leg, but he was able to return Friday. There was never much concern about the shortstop's leg issue, as Rojas said Wednesday that he just needed time off in order to avoid risking a worsening of the condition ahead of the postseason. Tommy Edman filled in at shortstop for the two games Rojas missed and will likely resume working mostly in center field with the latter's return.

Ha-seong Kim SS | SD
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Resumes throwing program
Kim (shoulder) made "light" throws across the diamond Friday, per MLB.com.
Kim's right shoulder injury has kept him out of action for over a month, and a lack of progress resulted in the Padres temporarily shutting him down from throwing in mid-September. The shortstop was able to play catch and toss balls across the diamond from his position Friday, though not at full velocity. Kim has also been hitting at full capacity, but it remains unclear if he'll be able to return to the Padres' lineup before the end of the regular season.

Oneil Cruz SS | PIT
Pirates' Oneil Cruz: Tallies 20th homer
Cruz went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored Friday against the Reds.
Cruz hasn't hit for much power across the last six weeks, as Friday's shot was only his second homer in his last 35 games. Nevertheless, it was his 20th of the season -- his first time hitting that threshold -- and he has still put together an encouraging second half. Since the All-Star break, he's hit .302 with a .368 on-base percentage to go along with 15 stolen bases.

Elly De La Cruz SS | CIN
Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Reaches 100 career steals
De La Cruz went 1-for-4 with a walk, a steal and two runs scored in Friday's 8-3 win over Pittsburgh.
De La Cruz stole a bag in the fourth inning and came in to score on a single by Tyler Stephenson. The theft was De La Cruz's 65th this season and 100th of his career. He joined Vince Coleman and Rickey Henderson as the only players in the modern era with 100 or more steals in their first two seasons.

Dansby Swanson SS | CHC
Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Blasts off in Friday's win
Swanson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-1 win over the Nationals.
Swanson provided a nice start for the Cubs, going deep just two batters into the contest for his 16th long ball of the year. The shortstop continued his strong finish to the season, as he's slashing .316/.366/.513 this month with four home runs, 11 RBI and 20 runs scored across 18 games. Swanson's overall stat line will still come in below his usual standards, but he's possibly building some momentum heading into 2025.

Bobby Witt SS | KC
Royals' Bobby Witt: Tallies three more hits
Witt went 3-for-4 in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Giants.
Witt's bat has slowed down a bit in September -- he's gone 18-for-65 (.277) over 17 contests. This was just his fourth multi-hit effort of the month, though he was the only one who get much going versus the Giants' pitching staff. Despite the slowdown at the plate, Witt is still slashing a fantastic .334/.389/.599 with 32 home runs, 30 stolen bases, 108 RBI, 124 runs scored, 44 doubles and 11 triples across 154 contests.

Anthony Volpe SS | NYY
Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Three hits, two RBI in win
Volpe went 3-for-4 with two RBI in Friday's 4-2 extra-inning win over the Athletics.
Volpe had gone just 5-for-44 (.114) while striking out 15 times over a 13-game span between multi-hit efforts. Two of his singles Friday plated a run, including an insurance run in the 10th inning. His September slump has taken a toll on his overall numbers, which are now at a .248/.295/.369 slash line with 11 home runs, 57 RBI, 88 runs scored and 26 stolen bases through 152 contests. Still, he's not at risk of losing his near-everyday role at shortstop.
-
Trea Turner SS | PHI
Phillies' Trea Turner: Swipes pair of bags
Turner went 2-for-5 with two steals, two runs scored and one RBI in Friday's win against the Mets.
The 31-year-old shortstop pilfered his 16th and 17th bags in this contest, marking his second time notching two stolen bases in a game this season. Turner is now riding a six-game hitting streak over which he's collected multiple hits three times. Overall, it has been another solid year for the Philadelphia star when in the lineup, as he's hit .299 with 19 homers, 83 runs scored and 59 RBI across 113 games.

Tyler Fitzgerald SS | SF
Giants' Tyler Fitzgerald: Out of San Francisco lineup
Fitzgerald is not in the lineup for Friday's contest in Kansas City, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Fitzgerald started the last three games after missing the three contests prior to that with a back injury, but he'll get some rest Friday. Brett Wisely is filling in at shortstop for the Giants.
