Wendle was designated for assignment by the Athletics on Thursday, MLB.com reports.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Yusmeiro Petit, who was recently signed as a free agent. Wendle spent most of the 2017 season with Triple-A Nashville, compiling a .285/.327/.429 line with eight homers and 13 stolen bases in 118 games. He held his own during a September callup, hitting .308/.357/.615 in eight games, but it apparently wasn't enough for the Athletics to keep him on the 40-man. He'll now run through waivers to determine his next landing spot.

Gordon will play center field for the Mariners in 2018, Jim Bowden of Sirius XM Radio reports.

The report was confirmed by Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, who broke the original story of Gordon being traded from Miami to Seattle. Gordon hasn't played center field at any level in the states, but he did make nine appearances in center in the Dominican Winter League a few years ago. Those in the fantasy game will want to continue to deploy Gordon at second base, but the dual eligibility he'll pick up early on will be a nice bonus.

The Marlins agreed to trade Gordon to the Mariners on Thursday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

The new ownership regime in Miami has begun shedding payroll, with Gordon being the first to be dumped. This would seem to create a logjam in the middle infield in Seattle, but these things always sort themselves out -- there could be another trade or perhaps Gordon will prepare for a role in the outfield. Gordon will be on the field close to every day and should once again be a great source of steals and batting average.

Camargo is currently atop the depth chart at third base for the Braves one week before the start of the Winter Meetings, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

With Austin Riley looking like the long-term solution at third base for the Braves, the team is seeking a steady option to hold down the job until Riley is ready (likely in 2019). As a result, Camargo is the leading internal candidate to open the season with the job, but the Braves may find an affordable solution in free agency if the market is soft for a player such as Todd Frazier since Mike Moustakas is also available this winter. Additionally, the list of teams looking for help at third base is reasonably short. Eventually, Camargo will likely end up handling a utility role for the Braves.

The Cardinals traded Diaz to the Blue Jays on Friday in exchange for minor-league outfielder J.B. Woodman, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Paul DeJong's emergence at shortstop for St. Louis made Diaz expendable, but he's landed in a good spot -- on a Blue Jays team desperately in need of a boost in the middle infield. Diaz may never get back to 2016 levels, but his contact ability and power should play up better in Rogers Centre.

Tejada was re-signed by the Orioles on a minor-league contract, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

Tejada spent some time as the Orioles' starting shortstop last season after J.J. Hardy got injured, but hit just .230/.293/.283 with five RBI in 41 games and was ultimately unseated by Tim Beckham after Beckham was acquired from the Rays. He stuck around in a utility role before being designated for assignment to clear room for Ryan Flaherty's activation from the disabled list.

Chang was added to the Indians' 40-man roster on Monday to protect him from the Rule 5 draft.

He hit for more power than ever last season at Double-A, hitting a career-high 24 home runs with an impressive .241 ISO. Unfortunately, he also hit just .220 (.254 BABIP) and struck out 26.4 percent of the time. Chang is an average runner and chipped in 11 steals for the second consecutive season. He is a better bet in OBP leagues, as he continues to walk a lot, especially for a middle-infield prospect.

Rosell signed a minor-league contract with the Reds on Friday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Rosell spent the 2017 season with Triple-A Albuquerque in the Rockies' system, hitting .278/.351/.394 with three home runs, 27 RBI and 20 stolen bases. He will provide organizational depth in the outfield for the Reds and will look to make the team coming out of spring training.

Vincej was outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday.

Vincej, who was claimed off waivers from the Reds last week, will stick in Seattle as organizational depth after the team passed him through waivers untouched. The 26-year-old shortstop made his major-league debut in 2017, going 1-for-9 with a walk in nine appearances as a September callup.

President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman said Seager's elbow is still being monitored, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Seager has been managing elbow soreness since August. While the Dodgers are hopeful it will heal over time, they haven't ruled out the possibility of offseason surgery -- an idea that was also floated around at the beginning of September. Despite also missing time with ankle and back injuries, Seager was able to finish the season with a .295/.375/.479 line and 22 homers in 145 games.
