Crawford went 2-for-4 with a homer, a walk, two runs and three RBI in Tuesday's 13-8 loss to the Phillies.

Crawford proved to be no worse for the wear after sitting out two games with a hand injury, backing up a fourth-inning solo homer with a two-run single in the fifth. The slugging shortstop has managed just 10 long balls after launching 21 last year, but he's well on pace to top last season's career-high total of 84 RBI thanks to a consistent role in the heart of a talented Giants lineup.

Arcia will start at shortstop and bat seventh Tuesday against the Padres.

The Brewers have deemed Arcia big-league ready and will slot him in against Luis Perdomo in his major league debut, as Jonathan Villar transitions to third base. Arcia, 21, hit .267/.320/.403 with eight homers and 15 stolen bases in 100 games with Triple-A Colorado Springs this season, against competition that was (on average) more than five years older than him. The team seems content to let Arcia learn on the job and gain valuable experience over the remainder of the season.

Pennington (hamstring) was officially activated from the DL on Tuesday, Pedro Moura of the LA Times reports.

Pennington has been out since late May and will return to the club prior to their game against the A's on Tuesday. He will take the roster spot of the recently traded Joe Smith and figures to serve as a backup infielder.

Story will undergo surgery to repair the torn UCL in his thumb and he will likely miss the remainder of the regular season, MLB Network's Jon Morosi reports.

Story was initially diagnosed with a jammed thumb, but further testing on the area Tuesday revealed a torn unlar collateral ligament in his thumb. He will undergo surgery in the near future and according to Jenny Cavnar of Root Sports, the usual timetable for that procedure is roughly eight weeks. The timing of Story's diagnosis compounds its impact given that the Rockies could have traded for a shortstop at the trade deadline had they known about the extent of the injury. Instead, the Rockies will likely have to go with a platoon of Cristhian Adames, Daniel Descalso, and Rafael Ynoa at shortstop. Regardless, it will be nearly impossible to replace Story's Rookie of the Year-level production with that platoon. Story slashed .272/.341/.567 with 27 home runs and 72 RBI through 97 games this season.

Crawford (hand) is back in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies.

After sitting out of the Giants' last two games due to a bruised hand, Crawford will get back into the lineup for the series opener in Philadelphia. His return will move new addition Eduardo Nunez to third base and bump him down to ninth in the order while Crawford bats fifth.

Gordon is not in the Marlins lineup on Tuesday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

It looks to be just a routine day off for Gordon, who will give way to Derek Dietrich at second base. The Marlins will occasionally start Dietrich at second base for the remainder of the season as Gordon will not be eligible for postseason play. Gordon has started five games since returning from his 80-game suspension.

Story was palced on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a torn UCL in his left thumb.

This is a tough for both Story and the Rockies as he had been a key cog in what had been one of the hottest teams in baseball since the start of the second half of the season. He was initially diagnosed with a jammed thumb, but further tests revealed a torn ligament. The Rockies have yet to release a timetable for Story's return, but it could hinge on whether or not his injury requires surgery. Rafael Ynoa was recalled in a corresponding move Tuesday, but Cristhian Adames also figures to see plenty of time at shortstop in Story's absence.

Story (thumb) is not in the lineup again on Tuesday as the Rockies host the Dodgers, Eric Stephen of True Blue LA reports.

Story was taken out of Saturday's game with a thumb injury. It was thought that he would return to the lineup on Tuesday, but it looks like the Rockies will give him at least one extra day off. The Rockies will be extra careful with their young slugger and wait until he's fully healthy before putting him back in the lineup. Daniel Descalso will get the start at short for the Rockies on Tuesday.

Adrianza (foot) was reinstated from the 60-day disabled list Tuesday, Amy Gutierrez of CSN Bay Area reports.

With Mac Williamson landing on the DL with a shoulder injury Tuesday, Adrianza was reinstated to take his spot on the active roster. Adrianza had been on the shelf since the second week of the season after suffering a fractured foot. He slashed .323/.353/.871 with five home runs in eight minor league rehab games before being activated. However, the Giants' current infield construction may make it difficult for Adrianza to see regular playing time.

Adrianza (foot) was activated from the disabled list on Tuesday.

On his rehab assignment, Adrianza posted a .294/.329/.632 line with six home runs between High-A San Jose and Triple-A Sacramento. Now that he's back with the big club, Adrianza will likely serve as a backup to Brandon Crawford and Joe Panik.
