  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Red Sox's Trevor Story: Out for regular-season finale

Story is absent from Sunday's lineup against the Rays.

Nick Sogard will start at shortstop and bat sixth in the Red Sox's regular-season finale. Story's 2024 season looked to be over after dislocating his left shoulder in early April, but he was able to return to the big club in September. Since his return, Story has slashed .270/.361/.429 with two home runs and six RBI across 72 plate appearances.

  • Ezequiel Tovar SS | COL

Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Stays hot with three hits

Tovar went 3-for-4 with a solo homer in Saturday's loss to the Dodgers.

Tovar singled in his first trip to the plate before launching a 429-foot solo homer in the bottom of the third inning. The shortstop went on to reach base three times in the contest, tallying at least three hits for the 16th time this season. Tovar has also posted multiple knocks and at least one RBI in each of his last three games, while the long ball was his 26th on the campaign.

  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Steals base in loss

Perdomo went 0-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base in Saturday's 5-0 loss to the Padres.

Perdomo stole second base with one out in the third inning but the Diamondbacks were unable to advance him. It was the ninth steal of the season and the first in 17 games for Perdomo. Arizona faces a must-win scenario Sunday to give it a chance at the postseason, so manager Torey Lovullo will want his best, likely including Perdomo, in the lineup.

  • Zachary Neto SS | LAA

Angels' Zach Neto: Remains out of lineup

Neto (shoulder) is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Rangers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Neto will miss a second consecutive game due to a right shoulder injury he sustained Thursday against the White Sox. It's unclear whether Neto will also be held out of the Angels' regular-season finale Sunday. Jack Lopez will start at shortstop Saturday and bat second.

  • Ha-seong Kim 2B | ATL

Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Will undergo shoulder surgery

Kim told reporters Saturday that he will undergo season-ending surgery on his right shoulder, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Kim has been on the 10-day injured list since Aug. 20 due to right shoulder inflammation. His rehab was repeatedly stalled as he continued to feel discomfort in his right shoulder, and it was decided Saturday that he would be pulled from his recovery program, per Cassavell. For now, it's unclear whether Kim's procedure will have a recovery timeline that would allow him to return for the start of spring training or if he might miss the start of the 2025 regular season. The 28-year-old infielder ends the year with a slash line of .233/.330/.370 with 22 stolen bases, 11 home runs and 47 RBI across 470 plate appearances.

  • Ha-seong Kim 2B | ATL

Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Shut down for season

The Padres pulled Kim (shoulder) off his recovery program Saturday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Kim has been on the injured list since mid-August due to right shoulder inflammation. Despite spending more than a month on the IL, he's made little progress in his ability to throw the ball and will now shift his focus to getting ready for the start of the 2025 campaign. He'll close the book on 2024 with a .233/.330/.370 slash line alongside 47 RBI and 22 stolen bases across 121 games.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Getting first day off

Witt isn't in the Royals' lineup Saturday against Atlanta.

After starting the first 160 games of the season, Witt will get a chance to rest Saturday now that the Royals have officially punched their ticket to the postseason. Maikel Garcia will shift to shortstop in Witt's stead, allowing Paul DeJong to pick up a start at the hot corner.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Twins' Carlos Correa: Sitting down Saturday

Correa isn't in the Twins' lineup for Saturday's game versus Baltimore.

Correa will get a day off Saturday after slashing .316/.458/.474 with a homer and seven RBI over his last 10 games. Brooks Lee will take over as the Twins' shortstop and bat third in Correa's stead.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Getting break Saturday

Henderson isn't in Baltimore's lineup Saturday versus the Twins, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Henderson has gone 0-for-6 since having his seven-game hitting streak snapped Thursday, and he'll get a chance to rest Saturday while Jackson Holliday starts at shortstop and bats leadoff.

  • Dansby Swanson SS | CHC

Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Swipes 19th bag in win

Swanson went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run scored and a stolen base in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Reds.

Swanson swiped a bag in the fifth frame and then doubled and scored the game's first run in the eighth. The shortstop is finishing the season strong, hitting safely in eight of his past 10 contests with three multi-hit efforts, five extra-base hits and two steals. On the season, he's batting .242 with 16 home runs, 66 RBI, 82 runs scored and a career-high 19 stolen bases across 593 plate appearances.
