Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Wednesday that there's a chance Story (elbow) could be ready for a rehab assignment immediately after the All-Star break, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Cora also noted that when Story returns it will be as a shortstop, as the team has no plans to bring him back sooner as a designated hitter. August has been mentioned as a timeline for Story's return and with the way things are progressing it's looking like he could be ready right around the beginning of that month. "He's been so good so far, no obstacles, no red flags, you never know what can happen in the upcoming days... but so far it's trending in the right direction, and fast," Cora said of Story.

Duran is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

With just one hit and nine strikeouts in 17 at-bats over his last four starts, Duran will sit for the second time in three games to open up a spot in the outfield for Robbie Grossman. Duran is still upholding a strong .876 OPS on the season, so he shouldn't be on the outs yet for a near-everyday role, despite his recent slump.

Mateo is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Yankees, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Mateo has now started just two of the last seven games, and one of those starts came when Jordan Westburg was banged up. Clearly, Mateo's lengthy slump has led to a role reduction, and it looks to be a significant one.

Wendle is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

With southpaw Matthew Liberatore taking the hill for St. Louis, Wendle and fellow left-handed hitter Jesus Sanchez will exit the Miami lineup. Jon Berti will replace Wendle at shortstop.

Bogaerts went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk, two total runs and three total RBI in Tuesday's 8-5 win against the Angels.

Bogaerts knocked two big hits in the contest, smashing a two-run shot to left field in the sixth inning and plating another run with a single in the seventh. The shortstop has gone 5-for-6 with four runs, two homers, six RBI and two walks over his past two contests, knocking in more runs during that stretch than he had in his previous 17 games combined. In fact, Bogaerts has already hit more homers (two) in July than he did in all of June (one in 22 contests).

Pena (neck) is starting at shortstop and batting eighth Wednesday versus the Rockies, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Pena will return to the lineup after a five-game absence with neck stiffness. He currently holds a five-game hit streak, batting .261 with a home run, three RBI and four runs scored over that stretch.

Lindor went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double, two runs scored, an RBI and two stolen bases in Tuesday's 8-5 win over the Diamondbacks.

It's the first time this year Lindor's stolen multiple bags in a game. Over his last 12 games, the shortstop is slashing .293/.404/.561 with three homers, four steals, six RBI and nine runs as he continues his climb out of an early-season hole.

Witt went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 9-3 loss to the Twins.

He took Kenta Maeda deep in the fourth inning to get the Royals on the board, but they were already staring at 4-0 hole at that point. Witt has four multi-hit efforts in the last five games, and since the beginning of June the 23-year-old is slashing .307/.354/.430 with three of his 13 homers and eight of his 25 steals on the year.

Franco went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and one steal in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to Philadelphia.

Franco clubbed his 10th home run of the season Tuesday, ending Aaron Nola's night with a solo shot in the eighth inning. The young shortstop also reached on a single in the sixth off Nola and swiped second base for his 27th steal in 2023. Franco has been on a tear in his last five games, batting 7-for-21 (.333) with seven RBI, four runs scored, two stolen bases and two triples. He'll look to continue the hot streak Wednesday in a tentative matchup against right-hander Taijuan Walker.

Swanson went 2-for-6 with a solo home run and three strikeouts during Tuesday's 7-6 win over the Brewers.

The 29-year-old has struck out five times through the first two games of the series in Milwaukee, but in his other six plate appearances he's gone 4-for-5 with a double, a home run, a walk and three runs. Swanson has a .759 OPS with 10 long balls through 81 games this season -- four of which have come in his past 15 contests -- and he'll need to pick up the pace if he's going to reach 25 homers for the third straight year.
