Civale came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Yankees, allowing one run on two hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out six.

An Amed Rosario solo shot in the second inning accounted for the only damage off Civale, who tossed 52 of 88 pitches for strikes before exiting. The journeyman righty has been solid to begin the season for the A's, posting a 2.70 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 9:5 K:BB over 10 innings and two starts. He'll look for his first quality start of the year in his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come on the road this weekend against the Mets.

Mayer is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

With southpaw Shane Drohan on the hill for Milwaukee, Mayer and fellow left-handed hitters Jarren Duran and Masataka Yoshida will be held out of the starting nine. Isiah Kiner-Falefa will replace Mayer at second base and will bat ninth.

Mears allowed no hits and a walk while striking out two over a scoreless inning in Tuesday's 2-1 loss against Cleveland.

Mears delivered a clean eighth inning Tuesday, with a Chase DeLauter walk serving as the only blemish in a scoreless frame that kept the game tied heading into the ninth before a Cleveland walk-off. Coming off a 3.49 ERA and 0.97 WHIP across 56.2 regular-season innings last year with Milwaukee, Mears is off to a strong start this campaign with Kansas City, as he's yet to allow a run through five innings while already picking up a win and a hold.

Pasquantino went 0-for-3 with a walk in Tuesday's loss to the Guardians.

Pasquantino went hitless, reaching base only once via a walk in the eighth inning, though nothing came of it in a low-scoring loss for the Royals. After hitting three homers in six games for Team Italy in the World Baseball Classic, Pasquantino has gotten off to a slow start to the regular season, slashing .195/.306/.220 through 11 games. While the sample is far too small to raise significant long-term concern, Kansas City could opt to give Pasquantino an off day soon to allow him to reset after starting every game to open the year.

Englert (0-1) took the loss Tuesday, giving up four runs (three earned) on seven hits and a walk over 3.2 innings as the Rays were downed 9-2 by the Cubs. He struck out two.

Tampa Bay rolled out a bullpen game after Drew Rasmussen (personal) was a late scratch, with Englert getting the start and lasting 65 pitches (48 strikes). The right-hander won't be available for long-relief duties for a few days as a result, so it wouldn't be a surprise if he were optioned to Triple-A Durham for a fresh arm. Through four appearances this season, Englert has a 9.45 ERA, 1.95 WHIP and 4:1 K:BB over 6.2 innings.

Walters (lat) was charged with two runs on one hit and one walk over an inning of work in his first rehab appearance with Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday.

Walters averaged 94 mph with his four-seamer, which is down 2.4 mph from his average with the Guardians last season prior to lat surgery. The velocity could come back as he further distances himself from the operation, but if it doesn't, the Guardians might opt to keep Walters at Columbus for a while rather than stick him back in the big-league bullpen.

Kikuchi (0-2) took the loss against Atlanta on Tuesday, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk while striking out eight batters over five innings.

Kikuchi was handed a two-run lead in the first inning, but he couldn't hang onto it. Atlanta tagged the right-hander for a run in the second, but it was the fourth inning that really did him in, as Kikuchi gave up three runs on three hits and a walk in that frame. The outing wasn't entirely disastrous for Kikuchi -- he managed to rack up 15 whiffs and a season-high eight punchouts -- but he's now 0-2 with a poor 6.75 ERA through three starts. He'll try to turn things around in his next outing, though he's in line for a tough matchup in New York against the Yankees.

Story went 1-for-4 with a two-run double in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Brewers.

Story broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the sixth with an 0-2 double off DL Hall after Jacob Misiorowski loaded the bases. It's been a struggle at the plate for Story in the early going this season, as he's now slashing .140/.137/.240 with one home run, six RBI, one run scored and an ugly 0:18 BB:K across 51 plate appearances. The good news is that Story has hit safely in three consecutive games and driven in four runs over the last two games after being dropped to fifth in the order.

Chapman secured his third save Tuesday against the Brewers, allowing a walk in a hitless and scoreless ninth inning.

After taking the loss in his previous outing Saturday against the Padres, Chapman got Luis Matos to fly out on the first pitch of the ninth inning before walking Sal Frelick on four pitches only to get Blake Perkins to ground into a game-ending double play on the first pitch of his at-bat. Chapman is now a perfect 3-for-3 in save chances this season and has a 1.80 ERA and 3:2 K:BB across five innings.

Crochet (2-1) earned the win Tuesday against the Brewers, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks with seven strikeouts across 6.1 innings.

It was a nice rebound outing for Crochet after he was tagged for five runs (four earned) in a loss last Wednesday against the Astros. Crochet got back to using his fastball against Milwaukee, averaging 95.7 mph with the heater. Crochet got into some trouble in the seventh inning, allowing four of the five batters he faced to reach base, including a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch, but Zack Kelly was able to come on and get the final two outs to stop the bleeding. Crochet owns a 3.12 ERA and 22:4 K:BB across 17.1 innings. He'll take the mound in Minnesota on Monday for his fourth start.
