  • Adolis Garcia RF | PHI

Rangers' Adolis Garcia: Sitting out Tuesday

Garcia is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's contest in Houston.

After going hitless in his first two games back from the injured list, Garcia will begin Tuesday's key contest against the Astros on the bench. Alejandro Osuna will start in right field and bat seventh as the Rangers try to even the series.

  • Leonardo Rivas SS | SEA

Mariners' Leo Rivas: Not in Seattle lineup

Rivas is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Kansas City.

Rivas had started the last two games and four of the last five against right-handed pitching at second base, but he'll begin Tuesday's series opener versus righty Michael Wacha on the bench. Jorge Polanco is at second base and Dominic Canzone is in the designated hitter slot for the Mariners.

  • Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Out of lineup Tuesday

Alvarez (ankle) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rangers.

Alvarez sprained his left ankle in Monday's win over the Rangers and was spotted leaving the clubhouse on crutches and wearing a walking boot. While it's no surprise he's absent from Tuesday's lineup, there's still no word on the results of an MRI the slugger had on the ankle. The Astros have Jesus Sanchez in left field and Yainer Diaz at designated hitter Tuesday.

  • Orioles' Grant Wolfram: Sent back to minors

The Orioles optioned Wolfram to Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday.

Wolfram has struck out 31 over 26 innings with the Orioles, but he's also posted a 4.85 ERA and 1.77 WHIP. He's clearing out to make room on the roster for waiver claim Jose Castillo.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Activated from 10-day IL

The Orioles activated Westburg (ankle) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Westburg wound up missing nearly a month of action with a right ankle sprain but is ready to roll after playing three rehab contests with Triple-A Norfolk. The 26-year-old will retake his third-base job, with Jeremiah Jackson likely reverting to a utility role.

  • Wilyer Abreu CF | BOS

Red Sox's Wilyer Abreu: Not ready to come off IL yet

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Tuesday that Abreu felt some soreness in his right calf after his recent heavy workload and it's not clear when the outfielder will be activated from the 10-day injured list, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

Abreu's activation was considered imminent and likely to happen at some point during Boston's series against the Athletics that runs through Thursday. While his return could still occur any day now, it appears more up in the air than it had been. Abreu has been sidelined since mid-August.

  • Rays' Richie Palacios: Out of lineup again Tuesday

Palacios is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Blue Jays.

After starting four times during a five-game stretch, Palacios has now been absent from the lineup for three consecutive contests. The Rays have Bob Seymour handling first base Tuesday.

  • Rays' Carson Williams: Not in Rays' lineup

Williams is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Blue Jays.

Williams had started each of the previous six games, but he'll begin Tuesday's festivities on the bench. Tristan Gray will play shortstop and bat seventh for the Rays.

  • Zack Gelof 2B | ATH

Athletics' Zack Gelof: Absent from lineup

Gelof is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Boston.

It's the second straight game that Gelof has been absent from the lineup after he had started 17 straight contests. Darell Hernaiz will cover second base for the Athletics.

  • Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Remains out Tuesday

Soderstrom (groin) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's game in Boston.

Soderstrom hasn't played in nearly a week due to groin tightness and will miss a fifth straight start Tuesday, though there's no indication to this point that he could require a trip to the 10-day injured list. Max Schuemann will get a start in left field for the Athletics in Tuesday's series opener.
