The Tigers optioned Madden to Triple-A Toledo on Monday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Madden boasts a 3.46 ERA and 40:13 K:BB over 39 innings, but he had been scored upon in five consecutive outings. His spot on the roster and in the bullpen will be absorbed by Tyler Kinley, who was signed by the Tigers on Monday.

The Tigers signed Kinley to a one-year contract, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Kinley was released by Atlanta last week after posting a 6.00 ERA and 7:7 K:BB over his first nine innings of the second half. The right-hander has been decent overall this season, collecting a 4.01 ERA and 42:20 K:BB over 42.2 innings. Kinley should operate in middle relief for Detroit.

Torres is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays.

Detroit will give Torres a breather after he had started every game dating back to July 28 and slashed .247/.330/.412 with four home runs, 17 RBI and 16 runs over a stretch of 23 contests. Hao-Yu Lee will take Torres' spot in the infield, covering second base while slotting in as the Tigers' No. 2 hitter.

Lee will start at second base and bat second in Monday's game against the Rays.

Lee will stick in the starting nine for a fifth straight game after he went 5-for-13 with a home run, a double, two walks, five runs and two RBI over his last four games to bring his slash line up to .281/.321/.439 for the season. The hot-hitting rookie appears to have played his way into a near-everyday role for the time being, but he could find himself as the odd man out of the lineup as soon as the Tigers are able to get both Kerry Carpenter (foot) and Riley Greene (hamstring) back from the injured list.

Monasterio is out of the lineup for Monday's contest in Miami.

Monesterio had started at shortstop in each of Boston's last 11 games, but he will get a breather Monday as the Red Sox open up a road trip. Nick Sogard has shifted over to shortstop in Monesterio's stead, and Anthony Seigler will grab a start at second base. Monasterio could soon be headed for a full-time utility role, as Trevor Story (sports hernia) is expected to take over as the Red Sox's primary shortstop once he's reinstated from the 60-day injured list later this week.

Double-A Midland placed De Vries on its 7-day injured list Tuesday while he recovers from a sore right shoulder, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

The Athletics sent De Vries to their facility in Arizona to conduct his rehab and have shut him from throwing for four weeks, effectively bringing an end to his season. One of the top prospects in all of baseball, De Vries has spent his entire age-19 season at Midland, slashing .287/.376/.453 with 13 home runs and 34 stolen bases over 431 plate appearances. Assuming DeVries is ready to start throwing without issue by the end of September, he could pick up some additional at-bats in fall instructionals and/or the Arizona Fall League. The switch-hitting infielder doesn't have much left to prove in the minors, so he should be ready to make his MLB debut for the Athletics early in the 2027 season.

The Yankees optioned Beck to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday.

Beck's latest stint in the majors lasted only one day, and he did not make an appearance. He is expected to be replaced on the roster by Justin Topa.

Greene (hamstring) returned to Detroit on Monday and will take part in conditioning work at Comerica Park prior to the Tigers' series opener versus the Rays, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Shortly after landing on the injured list Aug. 12 due to a left hamstring strain, Greene headed to the Tigers' spring training facility in Florida to complete a running, hitting and defensive progression, per MLB.com. Though he's now back in Detroit, Greene's activation doesn't yet appear to be imminent. He's expected to continue taking part in baseball activities during the Tigers' homestand and will likely need to head out on a minor-league rehab assignment before making his return from the IL.

Urquidy will start Monday's game against the Rangers at Rate Field, James Fegan of The Chicago Sun-Times reports.

After faring well in bulk relief in his first two appearances with Chicago following his promotion from Triple-A Charlotte on Aug. 14, Urquidy will get a look as a traditional starter as he makes his third turn through the rotation. The start will be Urquidy's first in the big leagues since Sept. 29, 2023, when he was a member of the Astros. The 31-year-old righty will tentatively line up for a two-start week, with his next appearance coming during the White Sox's weekend series in Minnesota.

The Yankees plan to call up Topa from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre prior to Tuesday's game against the Astros, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

Topa was signed to a minor-league contract earlier this month and has turned in 1.80 ERA and 2:1 K:BB over five innings during his time with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The right-handed reliever logged an 8.05 ERA and 12:11 K:BB across 19 frames earlier this season with the Twins.
