The Blue Jays optioned Cellucci to Triple-A Buffalo on Friday.

Cellucci had his contract selected Wednesday but didn't appear in a game during his 48 hours with the big club, so his major-league debut will have to wait. He loses his spot on the 26-man roster to Spencer Arrighetti, who was activated from the injured list in a corresponding move.

The Blue Jays recalled Schneider from Triple-A Buffalo on Friday.

Schneider was optioned to Triple-A 11 days ago but is back in the big leagues after Josh Smith was placed on the 10-day IL with left hamstring inflammation. Schneider has had a miserable season at the plate, slashing .142/.295/.274 with three homers, 12 RBI, 18 runs scored, one stolen base and a 25:47 BB:K across 140 plate appearances.

The Blue Jays activated Arrighetti (foot) from the 15-day injured list Friday.

While Mason Fluharty is getting the start as the opener Friday against the Yankees, Arrighetti is expected to pitch as the bulk reliever. The right-hander has been shelved since July 24 and was acquired from the Astros at the trade deadline earlier this month in exchange for Daulton Varsho. Arrighetti owns a 4.60 ERA and 87:50 K:BB across 88 innings this season.

The Royals placed Garcia on the 10-day injured list Friday with a left hamstring strain.

After missing nearly two months with a hand injury, Garcia played four games this week only to injure his hamstring running the bases Thursday against the Athletics. It's shaping up to be a lost season for the 26-year-old, as he's appeared in just 73 of Kansas City's 129 games and will now miss several more. Nick Loftin figures to get most of the starts at third base for the Royals while Garcia is out.

Rivero (hand) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.

Rivero suffered a left hamate fracture June 10 and has experienced some setbacks in his recovery after initially beginning a rehab assignment last month. The 27-year-old backstop has slashed .245/.286/.283 with a pair of doubles, eight RBI, five runs scored and a 3:12 BB:K across 57 plate appearances with the Halos this season.

Bautista (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Chesapeake on Sunday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Bautista will make one appearance with Chesapeake before moving his rehab to Triple-A Norfolk next week. The right-hander said he's feeling good and that everything is progressing well in his return from shoulder surgery. He appears to have a good chance of pitching with the big club before the end of the regular season.

Whitlock (elbow) resumed throwing Wednesday and is expected to throw a bullpen session in the near future, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

Whitlock was placed on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation last week but appears to be nearing a return to the mound. It sounds like Whitlock's stay on the IL could be around the minimum. The 30-year-old has posted a 2.05 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 49:7 K:BB across 44 innings out of the Boston bullpen this season.

The Astros optioned King to Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

King has appeared in 51 games out of Houston's bullpen this season, posting a 4.75 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 44:19 K:BB across 53 innings. He was shelled for five runs on five hits with one strikeout across 1.1 innings during Thursday's 18-3 loss to the Angels. After throwing 37 pitches in that outing, he's heading down so the Astros can recall a fresher arm.

The Astros recalled Teng from Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Teng was optioned to Sugar Land in late July and worked exclusively out of the bullpen while with the minor-league club, turning in a 3.48 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 15:3 K:BB across 10.1 innings. He'll work in relief for the Astros after making 10 starts for the team earlier this season.

The Yankees recalled Schuemann from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

With Ryan McMahon (thumb) sent to the injured list, Schuemann will rejoin the big-league club after he was optioned earlier this month following the Yankees' deadline acquisitions. Schuemann has slashed just .194/.333/.361 with two homers, eight RBI, 17 runs scored, three stolen bases and a 12:21 BB:K across 87 trips to the plate with New York this season.
