The Yankees recalled Rodriguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.

The 22-year-old righty will return to the Yankees as the roster replacement for Max Fried, who landed on the injured list with a bone bruise in his left elbow. Rodriguez struggled during his first stretch in the big leagues, allowing five earned runs on 10 hits and eight walks while striking out five batters in 8.2 innings over two starts. He'll likely take Fried's place in the rotation until Gerrit Cole (elbow) is cleared to return, lining Rodriguez up to start against the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Fortes isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Fortes will sit down for the fourth time in Tampa Bay's last five games, which could signal that the Rays are pivoting toward using the lefty-hitting Hunter Feduccia as their primary catcher against right-handed starters.

The Athletics designated Stefanic for assignment Saturday.

Stefanic will be pushed off the Athletics' 26- and 40-man rosters following the team's acquisition of Alika Williams from Pittsburgh on Saturday. Stefanic went 2-for-5 with a run scored during his four-day stint in the majors and owns a .706 OPS through 149 plate appearances at Triple-A Las Vegas. He'll likely spend the rest of the season as organizational depth if he clears waivers.

The Pirates traded Williams to the Athletics on Saturday in exchange for Kyle Robinson.

The 27-year-old infielder will join the Athletics' active roster immediately upon coming over from Pittsburgh, replacing Michael Stefanic. Williams hasn't appeared in an MLB game since 2024, but he's earned an opportunity by slashing .317/.385/.467 with two homers, 18 RBI and 19 runs scored through 135 plate appearances at Triple-A Indianapolis. He'll provide an extra option on the left side of the infield while the A's deal with injuries to Jacob Wilson (shoulder) and Max Muncy (hand).

Royals manager Matt Quatraro said Friday that Ragans (elbow) played catch with more volume and intensity and hopes to progress to mound work soon, Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports.

Ragans landed on the 15-day injured list May 8 due to left elbow impingement, but the southpaw has quickly resumed playing catch with generally positive feedback and results. Thompson noted that Ragans threw a few pitches off the mound Friday, though it wasn't a formal bullpen session, and the tentative plan is for one more day of catch before progressing to full mound work. The Royals won't rush the 28-year-old and he still needs to continue checking boxes in rehab, but it appears Ragans could avoid a lengthy stay on the injured list.

Manager A.J. Hinch said Saturday that Vest (forearm) could return from the injured list Sunday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Vest is reportedly on his way to join the team in Detroit after making a rehab appearance with Triple-A Toledo, during which he struck out one batter while pitching a perfect inning. Once activated, the 30-year-old righty will likely slot back into a high-leverage role despite turning in a 6.17 ERA and 1.46 WHIP through his first 11.2 innings.

The Tigers optioned Hanifee to Triple-A Toledo on Saturday.

With Casey Mize (thigh) returning from the injured list to start Saturday's game against Toronto, Hanifee will end up as the odd man out of a spot on Detroit's active roster. The 27-year-old has performed admirably when called upon this year, posting a 1.93 ERA and 1.07 WHIP through 9.1 innings, giving him strong odds to return to the Tigers' bullpen at some point.

The Tigers reinstated Mize (thigh) from the injured list Saturday.

Mize landed on the injured list in late April with a right adductor strain, but he'll now make his return without a rehab assignment and take on a Blue Jays squad that's posted just a .675 OPS since the beginning of the month. Brenan Hanifee was optioned to Triple-A Toledo to make room for Mize on the active roster.

The White Sox recalled Eisert from Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday.

Eisert gave up four earned runs in just 2.1 innings during his first stint with the Sox this season and has posted a 6.97 ERA in the minors since his demotion in mid-April. Despite his poor performance, he'll return to the big leagues to give Chicago a fresh bullpen arm, replacing Tyler Schweitzer.

The White Sox optioned Schweitzer to Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday.

Schweitzer will return to the minors after making three appearances during his latest stint with the big club, giving up three earned runs on three hits and two walks over 2.2 innings. Despite a poor start to his MLB career, the 25-year-old could be welcomed back to Chicago if he returns to form at Triple-A, where he's posted a 2.91 ERA through 21.2 frames. Brandon Eisert was recalled from Charlotte in a corresponding move.
