Astros general manager Dana Brown said Tuesday that Imai (arm) will rejoin the rotation next week versus the Mariners, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

If Imai is kept on a schedule of five days of rest in between starts, he'll be in line to start Monday's series opener. He made his second rehab start Tuesday with Triple-A Sugar Land, allowing one run on one hit with a 3:5 K:BB over three innings. Imai, who is coming back from fatigue in his pitching arm, threw 63 pitches Tuesday, so he will not be ready for a full workload in his first start back with the big club.

The Athletics selected Kriske's contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Kriske earned the promotion after posting a 2.25 ERA and 25:11 K:BB over 16 innings with Las Vegas. The 32-year-old will provide Athletics manager Mark Kotsay with a fresh arm for the bullpen.

Correa will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a tendon tear in his left ankle, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Correa hurt his ankle during batting practice prior to Tuesday's contest versus the Yankees, and the decision to have surgery was made after he consulted with a foot specialist. The expectation is that Correa will require 6-to-8 months to recover, so he should be ready for spring training next year. With Correa out, Isaac Paredes will serve as the Astros' everyday third baseman, and Nick Allen should be the primary shortstop until Jeremy Pena (hamstring) returns.

Jax is in line to start Thursday's game against the Red Sox in Boston, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

With the team's starting pitching depth having been tested by injuries in recent weeks, Jax has begun the process of getting stretched out as a potential rotation open. Jax has served as an opener for the Rays in both of his last two appearances, covering 2.1 innings April 26 against the Twins and then 2.2 innings Saturday against the Giants. Jax is likely to expand on that workload Thursday, though he probably won't hit the five innings he would need to qualify for a win. Assuming he isn't needed out of the bullpen during Wednesday's series finale versus the Blue Jays, Jesse Scholtens could work in bulk relief behind Jax and would have some appeal as a streaming option after scooping up wins in both of Jax's last two starts.

Scherzer said Wednesday that he's been unable to ramp up his throwing due to lingering right forearm discomfort, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.

Scherzer landed on the 15-day injured list early last week with forearm tendinitis and left ankle inflammation. The ankle injury is no longer bothering him, but the nagging forearm issue is preventing Scherzer from advancing in his rehab. He's undergone MRIs that have come back clean, but the veteran righty is still seeking answers for why his forearm is still giving him trouble, noting that he will "talk to more doctors and figure it out."

Vazquez is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Dodgers.

Vazquez is at the top of the Astros' catcher depth chart following the injury to Yainer Diaz (oblique), but he'll get some rest during Wednesday's matinee. Cesar Salazar is doing the catching and batting ninth in what will be his season debut with the big club.

Altuve is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.

It's a routine day off for Altuve, who is celebrating his 36th birthday. The Astros are going with Brice Matthews at second base and in the leadoff spot in Wednesday's rubber match.

Rodon (elbow) appears on track to return from the 15-day injured list to start Sunday's game against the Brewers in Milwaukee, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

The Yankees haven't officially confirmed Rodon's next step, but manager Aaron Boone previously said that the left-hander's next start could be in the majors once Rodon made the third appearance of his rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. After posting a 0.93 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and 12:1 K:BB in 9.2 innings between his first two rehab outings with High-A Hudson Valley and Double-A Somerset, Rodon wasn't able to maintain that level of form with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, as he struck out four while yielding six runs (five earned) on seven hits and two walks over 6.1 innings. More important than Rodon's results was the fact that he built up to 83 pitches in the outing, which indicates that he's ready to handle a typical starter's workload. The Yankees have seemingly already cleared the way for Rodon to rejoin the rotation by optioning Elmer Rodriguez -- who had been serving as the club's No. 5 starter -- to Triple-A following Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Rangers.

Englert (forearm) could start Friday in Boston in place of the injured Steven Matz (elbow), Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The Rays had sent Englert to Triple-A Durham to begin a rehab assignment. However, Englert was spotted in the clubhouse Wednesday, suggesting the club could have him fill in for Matz instead. Englert has been used in relief this season, but the Rays intend to stretch him out as a rotation option. He hasn't pitched in more than two weeks and is not stretched out, so it would be an abbreviated start if Englert does indeed take the ball Friday.

Hoskins went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and one walk in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Royals.

Hoskins took Stephen Kolek deep in the fourth inning, accounting for Cleveland's lone extra-base hit of the night and all three runs. Hoskins has now homered in two of his last four games after going deep just once in Cleveland's first 32 contests. The veteran first baseman is slashing .207/.353/.390 with three homers, 13 RBI, 15 runs scored and an 18:28 BB:K across 102 plate appearances this season.
