Mears (2-1) earned the win in Tuesday's 4-1 extra-inning win over the Athletics. He allowed no hits or walks while striking out two over a perfect inning.

Mears worked a scoreless ninth inning and ultimately picked up his second win of the season, aided by a Bobby Witt three-run homer in the 10th inning. The right-handed reliever has put together a strong start to 2026, logging four straight scoreless appearances and recording scoreless outings in 10 of 12 appearances. Overall, he owns a 2.45 ERA and 1.09 WHIP across 11 innings and continues to make a strong case for high-leverage opportunities out of the Royals' bullpen.

Perez went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's win over the Athletics.

Perez opened the scoring for the Royals with a solo blast off Hogan Harris in the sixth inning to tie the game at one apiece. After a slow start to the season, the veteran backstop has begun to heat up, going 6-for-15 (.400) with two homers and four RBI across his past three appearances. Overall, Perez owns a .196 batting average and .586 OPS with five homers, three doubles, 10 RBI and 10 runs through 28 games.

Smith is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Yankees.

For just the second time this season, the left-handed-hitting Smith is on the bench while the Rangers go up against a righty starter. Per Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News, Smith -- who is slashing only .193/.306/.217 this season -- will get a "couple days off" to regroup, manager Skip Schumaker said. Ezequiel Duran will cover second base and bat ninth against Yankees right-hander Elmer Rodriguez, who is making his major-league debut.

Jansen is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.

Jansen will receive a breather for the afternoon contest after he started behind the dish in three of the Rangers' previous four games. Kyle Higashioka will receive the nod at catcher Wednesday and will form a battery with starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi.

Civale did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing five hits and a walk over five scoreless innings against the Royals. He struck out three.

Civale wasn't dominant, recording just a trio of strikeouts, but the 30-year-old was in control as he held the Royals scoreless across five innings. The outing marked a step in the right direction for the right-hander, who allowed just three earned runs across his first three starts before surrendering eight runs over his subsequent two outings. Overall, Civale owns a 2-1 record with a 3.23 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 24:8 K:BB across 30.2 innings in 2026.

Rivas is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins.

Will Wilson will receive the nod at third base in place of Rivas in the series finale. Rivas had started in nine of Seattle's last 10 games, batting just .129 with zero home runs or steals, four RBI and one run during that stretch. Even while he continues to see steady playing time in the absence of Brendan Donovan (groin), Rivas will hold limited fantasy appeal.

The Angels recalled Farris from Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday.

He'll take the roster spot vacated by Joey Lucchesi, who was designated for assignment. Farris has permitted just one run with a 3:2 K:BB over 4.1 innings during his time in the majors this season. He will provide length out of the bullpen.

Schanuel is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Schanuel will exit the starting nine for just the fourth time all season and for the first time against a right-handed starter (Erick Fedde). Vaughn Grissom will get the nod at first base in place of Schanuel, who went 4-for-8 with a pair of doubles, two runs and an RBI over the first two contests of the series in Chicago.

The Angels designated Lucchesi for assignment Wednesday.

Lucchesi was knocked around for six runs (five earned) on seven hits with a 4:6 K:BB in his 3.1 innings with the Halos. It's the second time the lefty has been designated for assignment by the Angels this month. He elected free agency before re-signing on a minor-league deal the first time around.

Williamson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

After making five consecutive starts in the middle infield, Williamson now finds himself on the bench for the second straight game, with both absences coming while the Rays have faced right-handed pitchers. Williamson looks like he'll continue to share second base with Richie Palacios until Gavin Lux (shoulder/ankle) is cleared to return from the injured list.
