Christian Scott SP | NYM
Mets' Christian Scott: Shelved with hip impingement
The Mets placed Scott on the 15-day injured list Monday due to a right hip impingement.
According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, Scott's hip issue isn't believed to be serious, which should give the right-hander a chance at returning from the IL around when he's first eligible June 27. The loss of Scott will still force the Mets to add two new members to the rotation this week, with Tobias Myers already having been recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to fill one of the openings during Monday's series opener in Cincinnati. Long reliever David Peterson is a candidate to cover Scott's spot in the rotation Tuesday, and Triple-A starters Jack Wenninger and Zach Thornton also loom as potential replacements.

Jonathan Pintaro RP | NYM
Mets' Jonathan Pintaro: Back with big club
The Mets recalled Pintaro from Triple-A Syracuse on Monday.
He's a candidate to soak up some innings out of the bullpen in Monday's game against the Reds behind starting pitcher Tobias Myers, who isn't fully stretched out. Pintaro has been sharp in three previous relief outings with the Mets this season, yielding just one run and one hit with a 5:1 K:BB across 6.2 frames.

Tobias Myers RP | NYM
Mets' Tobias Myers: Recalled prior to start Monday
The Mets recalled Myers from Triple-A Syracuse on Monday.
Myers is slated to start Monday's series opener in Cincinnati. The righty will be pitching on three days' rest after going 2.2 innings at Syracuse last Thursday, and he has yet to last more than three frames in an appearance at any level in 2026. As a result, Myers' start Monday will be relatively short.

Lucas Giolito SP | SD
Padres' Lucas Giolito: Following opener Monday
Giolito is expected to operate in a bulk-relief role Monday in St. Louis, with right-hander Wandy Peralta serving as the Padres' opening pitcher in the series opener, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Giolito has struggled since making his Padres debut May 17, posting a 4.35 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and 14:18 K:BB over 20.2 innings covering five starts. As a result of Giolito's ongoing struggles, the club will take a new approach with his turn through the rotation and send Wandy Peralta to the bump to cover the first inning or two.

Wandy Peralta RP | SD
Padres' Wandy Peralta: Serving as opener Monday
Peralta will serve as the Padres' opening pitcher in Monday's game versus the Cardinals.
Peralta is expected to work the first inning or two before giving way to Lucas Giolito, who will operate as a bulk reliever Monday after starting in his first five appearances for the Padres. Peralta has managed to go unscored upon in 14 of his last 15 appearances, but he has an ugly 12:13 K:BB over 19.2 innings during that stretch.

Elly De La Cruz SS | CIN
Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Nearing rehab assignment
De La Cruz (hamstring) could be cleared to begin a rehab assignment this weekend at a yet-to-be-determined affiliate, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
The Reds plan to have De La Cruz test his strained right hamstring by running the bases Monday and Tuesday, and if all goes well, the 24-year-old will join a minor-league affiliate for what would presumably be a short rehab stint before he returns to the big club next week. While De La Cruz has been shelved, Matt McLain has taken over as the Reds' primary shortstop, which has cleared the way for Edwin Arroyo and Spencer Steer to pick up more reps at second base.

Jake McCarthy CF | COL
Rockies' Jake McCarthy: Returning to lineup
McCarthy (illness) will start in left field and bat seventh in Monday's game versus the Cubs.
McCarthy didn't start any of the previous five contests as he battled back from an illness, though he appeared as a pinch runner in one of those tilts. The 28-year-old had made 23 consecutive starts prior to the aforementioned five-game absence from the lineup.
