  • Mets' Jonathan Pintaro: Back with big club

The Mets recalled Pintaro from Triple-A Syracuse on Monday.

He's a candidate to soak up some innings out of the bullpen in Monday's game against the Reds behind starting pitcher Tobias Myers, who isn't fully stretched out. Pintaro has been sharp in three previous relief outings with the Mets this season, yielding just one run and one hit with a 5:1 K:BB across 6.2 frames.

  • Tobias Myers RP | NYM

Mets' Tobias Myers: Recalled prior to start Monday

The Mets recalled Myers from Triple-A Syracuse on Monday.

Myers is slated to start Monday's series opener in Cincinnati. The righty will be pitching on three days' rest after going 2.2 innings at Syracuse last Thursday, and he has yet to last more than three frames in an appearance at any level in 2026. As a result, Myers' start Monday will be relatively short.

  • Padres' Lucas Giolito: Following opener Monday

Giolito is expected to operate in a bulk-relief role Monday in St. Louis, with right-hander Wandy Peralta serving as the Padres' opening pitcher in the series opener, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Giolito has struggled since making his Padres debut May 17, posting a 4.35 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and 14:18 K:BB over 20.2 innings covering five starts. As a result of Giolito's ongoing struggles, the club will take a new approach with his turn through the rotation and send Wandy Peralta to the bump to cover the first inning or two.

  • Padres' Wandy Peralta: Serving as opener Monday

Peralta will serve as the Padres' opening pitcher in Monday's game versus the Cardinals.

Peralta is expected to work the first inning or two before giving way to Lucas Giolito, who will operate as a bulk reliever Monday after starting in his first five appearances for the Padres. Peralta has managed to go unscored upon in 14 of his last 15 appearances, but he has an ugly 12:13 K:BB over 19.2 innings during that stretch.

  • Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Nearing rehab assignment

De La Cruz (hamstring) could be cleared to begin a rehab assignment this weekend at a yet-to-be-determined affiliate, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

The Reds plan to have De La Cruz test his strained right hamstring by running the bases Monday and Tuesday, and if all goes well, the 24-year-old will join a minor-league affiliate for what would presumably be a short rehab stint before he returns to the big club next week. While De La Cruz has been shelved, Matt McLain has taken over as the Reds' primary shortstop, which has cleared the way for Edwin Arroyo and Spencer Steer to pick up more reps at second base.

  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

Phillies' Alec Bohm: Exiting starting lineup

Bohm is not in the lineup for Monday's contest against the Marlins.

It looks to be a routine day off for Bohm, who had started every game since May 9 for the Phillies. Edmundo Sosa will cover third base and bat ninth for Philadelphia in the series opener.

  • Jake McCarthy CF | COL

Rockies' Jake McCarthy: Returning to lineup

McCarthy (illness) will start in left field and bat seventh in Monday's game versus the Cubs.

McCarthy didn't start any of the previous five contests as he battled back from an illness, though he appeared as a pinch runner in one of those tilts. The 28-year-old had made 23 consecutive starts prior to the aforementioned five-game absence from the lineup.

  • Nate Lowe DH | CIN

Reds' Nathaniel Lowe: Left out of starting nine

Lowe is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets.

The Reds will give Lowe a breather after he started six of the team's last seven games while going 6-for-15 with six walks and a run. Spencer Steer will step in for Lowe at first base and will bat cleanup.

  • Braves' Spencer Strider: Facing four-week shutdown period

Atlanta announced that Strider (elbow) will be shut down from throwing for four weeks following a consultation Monday with Dr. Keith Meister.

After he was forced out of his start Friday against the Mets, Strider was diagnosed with right elbow inflammation and landed on the injured list a day later. While an MRI cleared him of any structural damage, he'll still need a prolonged period of rest for the inflammation to calm down. Strider will be scheduled to undergo a follow-up MRI in mid-July, and if his scan is clear at that time, he'll be able to begin a throwing progression around the All-Star break. Even if his recovery from the elbow injury goes smoothly, Strider looks unlikely to join the Atlanta rotation until late August in a best-case scenario, which could make it tough to justify holding him in most redraft leagues.

  • Coleman Crow SP | MIL

Brewers' Coleman Crow: Forearm strain deemed mild

Crow said Sunday that an MRI on his right forearm revealed a mild flexor strain, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Milwaukee placed Crow on the 15-day injured list Friday, three days after he shifted to the bullpen and made a two-inning relief appearance in the Brewers' 7-5 loss to the Athletics. Crow still appears likely to miss more than the minimum amount of time, but since his injury is considered mild, he's expected to avoid a prolonged shutdown. The Brewers are likely still planning on developing the right-hander as a starter, so he could end up joining the rotation at Triple-A Nashville once he's activated from the IL.
