Benge is expected to be the Mets' Opening Day starter in right field, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The 23-year-old's main competition for the job, Mike Tauchman, will miss out on a roster spot as a result of a knee injury that will require surgery. Benge may have won the spot outright anyway despite the fact that he has yet to make his major-league debut, as he's batted .368 (14-for-38) this spring with a 4:7 BB:K and some impressive defensive work in right field.

Brujan appears likely to fill the last spot on the Mets' bench due to Mike Tauchman (knee) being headed for surgery, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

Tauchman's strong spring, along with an even more impressive camp for top prospect Carson Benge, put Brujan's spot on the 26-man roster in jeopardy, as New York could have gone without a backup shortstop and relied on players like Bo Bichette or Marcus Semien to cover the position when Francisco Lindor (hand) was unavailable. Instead, Brujan's job now appears safe. The 28-year-old switch hitter has batted .273 (9-for-33) this spring with four steals in four attempts, and his speed and defensive versatility will be his biggest assets on the Mets' bench -- Brujan played every position on the diamond except catcher and first base in 2025.

The Dodgers optioned Kim to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday.

Kim batted .407 with one extra-base hit and five stolen bases in nine Cactus League games but won't open 2026 with the major-league club. The 30-year-old lost out on a bench role to Santiago Espinal and Alex Freeland even though Tommy Edman (shoulder) is poised to begin the season on the injured list.

Oliva went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run and an additional run scored in Saturday's 10-7 Cactus League win over the Guardians.

Oliva continued his strong spring Saturday, launching a home run to left field in the fourth inning. The 30-year-old outfielder also singled on a bunt in the third before coming around to score. A non-roster invitee to spring training, Oliva slashed .375/.444/.550 with 16 runs scored, 14 stolen bases, 10 RBI and one homer across 46 plate appearances. The Giants are still evaluating hm for a backup outfield role in a crowded competition with Luis Matos, Jerar Encarnacion, Drew Gilbert and Will Brennan.

Norby could see playing time in left field early in the season due to Kyle Stowers (hamstring) being set to begin the season on the IL, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.

The 25-year-old Norby looked set to be the Marlins' starter at third base due to a spring injury to Graham Pauley (forearm), but those plans are now in flux. Norby has played left field twice in recent days during Grapefruit League action, and Pauley is expected to be cleared for defensive duty Sunday. Griffin Conine and Heriberto Hernandez are the top options in left field during Stowers' absence, but they're also at the top of the depth chart at DH. If Norby looks comfortable in the outfield, it would offer another path to keeping his bat in the lineup once Pauley's fully healthy. In 16 games this spring, Norby's batting .310 (13-for-42) with two homers and three steals, albeit with a worrisome 1:15 BB:K.

The Marlins optioned Gibson to Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Gibson surrendered six runs across 8.1 innings during spring training and will miss out on the Opening Day roster. The left-hander is likely to get a look with the Marlins at some point in 2026 after posting a 2.63 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 43:21 K:BB over 54.2 innings last season.

Hernandez is likely to see extra playing time in left field due to Kyle Stowers (hamstring) being set to begin the season on the IL, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.

Hernandez was initially see more time at DH while providing a platoon partner for Stowers in left field and Owen Caissie in right, but he now might need his glove more often. Griffin Conine will also have a big role in the LF/DH mix with Hernandez, while Connor Norby could also get some starts in left if he shows he's up to the task defensively. Hernandez is batting .226 (7-for-31) in 13 Grapefruit League games with three homers, four steals and a 6:9 BB:K.

The Pirates reassigned Devenski (head) to minor-league camp Sunday.

Devenski had been attending camp as a non-roster invitee and allowed four earned runs on eight hits and one walk over 5.1 innings during the Grapefruit League. He hasn't pitched since March 13 after taking a line drive off his head in a game against the Tigers, but the veteran reliever was able to walk off the field under his own power and has been resting comfortably at home ever since, per Jason Beck of MLB.com. Assuming he doesn't opt out of his minor-league contract, Devenski appears likely to open the season on Triple-A Indianapolis' injured list.

Conine is likely to see extra playing time in left field due to Kyle Stowers (hamstring) being set to begin the season on the IL, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.

A left field platoon between Conine and Heriberto Hernandez could be Plan A for the Marlins, although those two are also at the top of the depth chart at DH. As a result, Connor Norby might also get some starts in left if he shows he can adjust to the position defensively. Conine has had an erratic spring, batting .231 (9-for-39) in 15 Grapefruit League games with two homers and a 6:12 BB:K.

The Pirates reassigned Fulmer to minor-league camp Sunday.

Fulmer is expected to open the season at Triple-A Indianapolis after he was unable to secure a bullpen role coming out of camp. The 32-year-old righty appeared in 13 big-league games with the Angels in 2025, pitching to a 5.83 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 26:11 K:BB in 29.1 innings.
