  • Luis Peralta RP | CHC

Cardinals' Luis Peralta: Claimed by Cardinals

The Cardinals claimed Peralta off waivers from the Rockies on Monday.

The younger brother of Freddy Peralta, Luis has spent all of this season at Triple-A Albuquerque, where he's been bludgeoned for 14 runs with a 14:13 K:BB over 7.1 frames. The left-hander has collected a 6.03 ERA and 30:23 K:BB in 31.1 innings during his chances at the big-league level. Peralta boasts a 30.2 percent strikeout rate in the minors but also a 13.9 percent walk rate. He will report to Triple-A Memphis.

  • Nick Yorke 3B | PIT

Pirates' Nick Yorke: Playing time trending down

Yorke is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.

On the bench for the fifth time in six games, Yorke appears to have ceded primary duties at third base to Nick Gonzales. Yorke's limited opportunities at the hot corner are likely to dwindle further upon the return of Jared Triolo (knee), who remains on the 10-day injured list but is in the midst of a rehab assignment and could be activated within the next week.

  • Cardinals' Victor Scott: Heading to bench for series opener

Scott is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates.

After another 0-for-3 performance in Sunday's 3-2 loss to Seattle dropped his season average to .191, Scott will take a seat for the series opener in Pittsburgh. Nathan Church will fill in as the Cardinals' center fielder in place of Scott, who could be at risk of falling into more of a part-time role if he's unable to get going offensively over his next handful of starts.

  • Pedro Pages C | STL

Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Checking back into lineup

Pages (hamstring) will start at catcher and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Pirates.

A sore left hamstring knocked Pages out of Saturday's 11-9 loss to the Mariners and kept him from playing in Sunday's series finale, but the lone day off appears to be all that the backstop needed to overcome the issue. Pages will step back in behind the dish Monday in Pittsburgh, and while he may continue to operate as St. Louis' main catcher, he'll likely continue to cede at least a couple starts per week to Ivan Herrera.

  • Jimmy Herget RP | COL

Rockies' Jimmy Herget: Shifts to restricted list

The Rockies transferred Herget (personal) from the paternity list to the restricted list Sunday.

Herget spent the maximum three days on the paternity list, and since he wasn't ready to rejoin the Rockies ahead of Sunday's doubleheader versus the Mets, the organization opted to shift him to a different reserve list. The right-hander won't count toward the 40-man roster or accrue service time while he's on the restricted list, but the Rockies haven't indicated that the reliever will be in line for a long-term absence.

  • Ryne Stanek RP | STL

Cardinals' Ryne Stanek: Dominant in appearance

Stanek pitched a perfect inning while striking out the side in a 3-2 loss to Seattle on Sunday.

After entering the game in the eighth inning, Stanek retired the top three Mariners hitters, J.P. Crawford, Cal Raleigh and Julio Rodriguez, in order. The veteran right-hander pitched back-to-back scoreless outings against Seattle. The 34-year-old has been shaky this season with 10 earned runs allowed in just 11.2 innings pitched, while recording 17 strikeouts as well.

  • Kevin Ginkel RP | ARI

    Diamondbacks' Kevin Ginkel: Rocky appearance

Ginkel pitched one inning allowing a solo home run in a 12-7 win over San Diego on Sunday.

Ginkel entered the game in the sixth inning and gave up a home run to Luis Campusano which gave the Padres a 7-1 lead at the time. The right-hander was able to limit the damage at just one before Arizona scored 11 unanswered runs. The 32-year-old had previously gone seven of his last eight appearances not allowing an earned run. This was Ginkel's first home run allowed through 12 outings to date.

  • JoJo Romero RP | STL

Cardinals' JoJo Romero: Hits rough patch

Romero took the loss in Sunday's game against the Mariners, serving up tiebreaking solo home run in the top of the ninth inning.

Romero initially had Rob Refsnyder struck out on a called strike three, but Refsnyder successfully had the call overturned and then proceeded to club his second home run of the season. After being unscored upon in his first 10 appearances of the season, Romero has yielded a total of six runs over 2.1 frames covering his last three outings. The left-hander has notched seven holds this season and will remain the Cardinals' primary left-handed setup man, despite the recent rough stretch.

  • Yohel Pozo DH | STL

Cardinals' Yohel Pozo: Hitless in loss

Pozo went 0-for-1 in his lone plate appearance Sunday in the 3-2 loss to the Mariners.

Pozo came in as a pinch-hitter in the ninth and grounded out for the second put-out of the inning. The right-hander, who is operating as the secondary backup catcher and designated hitter, has gotten some playing time this season with Pedro Pages (hamstring) out a couple of games. The 28-year-old has only started in two games so far this season and has mostly come on as a pinch-hitter or defensive replacement at catcher.

  • Pierce Johnson RP | CIN

Reds' Pierce Johnson: Struggles in relief

Johnson went two-thirds of an inning allowing two runs on two hits while striking out one batter in an 8-3 loss to Detroit on Sunday.

Johnson entered the ballgame in the seventh inning, allowing a solo home run to Spencer Torkelson and an RBI triple to Kerry Carpenter, further cementing Detroit's lead. The 34-year-old has appeared in 14 of the 28 games this campaign, tied for the second-most appearances for Cincinnati. The right-hander had gone his last nine appearances (8.2 innings) since March 31 without allowing a run before Sunday.
