Sterlin Thompson DH | COL
Rockies' Sterlin Thompson: First promotion to big leagues
The Rockies recalled Thompson from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.
Thompson has gotten off to a scorching start at hitter-friendly Albuquerque this season, slashing .344/.491/.496 with four home runs, eight stolen bases and a 30:28 BB:K. The 24-year-old is primarily a corner outfielder but can also handle second and third base in a pinch. Thompson will be making his major-league debut when/if he gets into a game, but his stint in the big leagues might last only until Tyler Freeman returns from paternity leave.

Blake Snell SP | LAD
Dodgers' Blake Snell: Scratched from Friday's start
Snell has been scratched from his scheduled start Friday against the Angels, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.
There's no word yet on the reasoning behind the decision or when Snell might be ready to take the ball again, but the Dodgers should have more clarity on the southpaw's condition soon. The Dodgers are slated to go with a bullpen game Friday, with Will Klein likely to take the mound first.

Chase Dollander SP | COL
Rockies' Chase Dollander: Shelved by elbow sprain
The Rockies placed Dollander on the 15-day injured list Friday with a right elbow sprain.
Dollander was hurt during Thursday's start versus the Pirates, forcing his exit in the second inning. A diagnosis of a sprain implies that Dollander is dealing with some sort of ligament damage, though it's unclear at this point whether he will require surgery. Even if he doesn't, the righty is likely looking at an extended absence. Tanner Gordon could take Dollander's spot in the Rockies' rotation, at least until Ryan Feltner (elbow) is ready.

Owen Caissie RF | MIA
Marlins' Owen Caissie: Playing time remains sporadic
Caissie is not in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Rays.
The Rays are going with lefty Ian Seymour as an opener and righty Jesse Scholtens as a bulk reliever in Friday's series opener. It's the third time across the Marlins' last five contests that the left-handed-hitting Caissie has been out of the lineup when the opponent is featuring a right-handed starter or primary pitcher. Caissie is slashing just .208/.267/.349 with a 40.8 percent strikeout rate over 37 games this season.

Christian Yelich DH | MIL
Brewers' Christian Yelich: Remains out of lineup Friday
Yelich (back) remains out of the lineup for Friday's game in Minnesota.
Yelich has now missed three straight starts with a back injury. Brewers manager Pat Murphy had indicated Thursday that a decision on whether to put Yelich on the 10-day injured list could be made Friday, so it might qualify as good news that no roster move has been made yet with the 34-year-old. With Yelich still out, Andrew Vaughn will serve as Milwaukee's designated hitter Friday.

Matt Waldron SP | SD
Padres' Matt Waldron: Removed from 40-man roster
The Padres designated Waldron for assignment Friday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Waldron has failed to gain much traction with the Padres the last two seasons, posting an 8.36 ERA and 25:13 K:BB over 28 innings covering four starts and three relief outings. The knuckleballer has a chance to clear waivers, and if that happens, he could stick around as swingman depth at Triple-A El Paso.

Alek Jacob RP | SD
Padres' Alek Jacob: Rejoins big-league bullpen
The Padres recalled Jacob from Triple-A El Paso on Friday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Jacob turned in two scoreless innings in an appearance for the Padres earlier this season and holds a 4.08 ERA and 18:10 K:BB over 17.2 frames with El Paso. He will likely be sent back down when Lucas Giolito joins the rotation later this weekend.

Adolis Garcia RF | PHI
Phillies' Adolis Garcia: Getting breather Friday
Garcia is not in the lineup for Friday's game in Pittsburgh.
Garcia has looked lost at the plate lately, going 0-for-16 with a 0:8 BB:K over his last four contests. He'll get a day to regroup Friday while Brandon Marsh covers right field in the series opener versus the Pirates.

J.T. Realmuto C | PHI
Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Day off Friday
Realmuto is absent from the lineup for Friday's game in Pittsburgh.
It's a routine day of rest after Realmuto had started at catcher in each of the previous six contests. Garrett Stubbs will be behind the dish and batting ninth in Friday's series opener versus the Pirates.
