Mead is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees.

Mead will be given a break for the series finale after he started seven straight games while going 11-for-28 (.393) with two home runs, one stolen base, four RBI and three runs. Washington will go with Jorbit Vivas at third base in Mead's stead.

Crawford (knee) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

It's the third straight absence for Crawford after being scratched from Friday's starting nine due to left knee soreness. The 23-year will now have three additional days to recover from the injury before the Phillies open the second half of the season Thursday against the Mets. Derek Hill is starting in center field again Sunday for Philadelphia.

Schmitt went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Rockies.

With the game tied at 1-1 in the sixth inning, Schmitt launched a three-run homer to left-center field. The 27-year-old has recorded a hit in three straight games and in seven of his 10 appearances in July, during which he's batting .262 with seven RBI, five runs scored and three home runs in 45 plate appearances. Overall, he's slashing .280/.309/.500 with 50 RBI, 42 runs scored, 19 long balls and seven stolen bases across 366 plate appearances this season.

The Nationals recalled Ortiz from Triple-A Rochester on Sunday. He'll start at designated hitter and bat third in the series finale against the Yankees.

Heading into spring training, Ortiz looked like he had a chance to break camp with the big club, but he ended up spending the first three-plus months of the season at Rochester. The 24-year-old will now see his first action with the Nationals in the final game before the All-Star break, earning his chance after slashing .239/.336/.496 with 17 home runs across 304 plate appearances at Triple-A. Ortiz could end up settling into the strong side of a platoon at DH if the Nationals are willing to move Jacob Young into a fourth outfielder role and commit to Dylan Crews as their primary option in center field.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Schlittler has elected not to pitch Tuesday in the All-Star Game, Brendan Kuty of The Athletic reports.

The All-Star nod was well deserved, as Schlittler finished the season's first half with a 2.05 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 137:25 K:BB across 118.2 innings. However, rather than making his first appearance in the Midsummer Classic, Schlittler doesn't want to exert himself too much Tuesday on what would be his between-starts throw day. The right-hander last pitched Saturday in Washington, so he may not get much extra rest built into his schedule if the Yankees want him to pitch against the Dodgers next weekend.

Misiorowski (arm) is expected to resume throwing Tuesday but won't make a start next weekend against the Marlins in the Brewers' first series coming out of the All-Star break, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Misiorowski had been lined up to start the final game before the break Sunday in Pittsburgh, but the Brewers opted to scratch him after he experienced some arm fatigue after his previous appearance Tuesday. While the right-hander doesn't appear to be dealing with anything overly concerning, the team will use break as a way to build in some extended rest for their young ace. After covering 141.1 innings between Triple-A and the majors during the regular season and playoffs in 2025, the 24-year-old is well on his way to soar past that mark, as he's tossed 111 innings through his first 18 starts of 2026. Misiorowski appears likely to make his next start during the Brewers' three-game home series with the Mets, which begins July 20.

Canzone is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.

Mariners president Jerry Dipoto indicated Tuesday that Canzone would no longer operate as a platoon player, but he'll still hit the bench Sunday while lefty Ian Seymour takes the mound for Tampa Bay. Cal Raleigh is resting his legs as the designated hitter while Mitch Garver starts behind the plate.

Emerson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.

The rookie shortstop has gone 3-for-25 with 12 strikeouts through his first eight contests in July and will hit the bench Sunday for the second time in Seattle's past three games. Barring an appearance off the bench. Emerson will close the first half of the season with seven homers, three steals, 20 RBI, 17 runs and a .201/.275/.396 slash line in 45 games.

Tolbert is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.

Tolbert made some waves with a recent three-game stretch in which he tied an MLB record with 12 consecutive hits while slugging two home runs, stealing three bases, driving in four runs and scoring seven times, but his brief run as a regular appears to have come to an end. With the Royals bringing Vinnie Pasquantino back from the injured list Friday, Tolbert has been the odd man out of the lineup for all three games in Baltimore this weekend. The lack of a full-time role will limit Tolbert's utility in mixed leagues, but he'll still have some appeal in AL-only formats since he still projects to play regularly against left-handed pitching and can make an impact with his speed when he gets a chance to use it.

Loftin is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.

He'll head to the bench for the series finale while Josh Rojas receives the nod at third base. Loftin had started each of Kansas City's last six games, going 9-for-23 (.391 batting average) with one home run, three doubles, two walks, five runs and four RBI during that stretch.
