  • Jose Caballero SS | NYY

Yankees' Jose Caballero: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Caballero is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the White Sox.

Caballero is 1-for-18 with nine strikeouts over his last five games, so he'll get a day to regroup. Anthony Volpe is covering shortstop for the Yankees.

  • Daniel Espino RP | CLE

Guardians' Daniel Espino: Back with big club

The Guardians recalled Espino from Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Espino will serve as the 27th man on the roster for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader in Cincinnati. The right-hander made five appearances out of the Cleveland bullpen earlier this season, allowing three runs with a 9:3 K:BB. Espino will likely be sent back down after the twin bill.

  • Santiago Espinal: Cut loose by Rangers

The Rangers released Espinal on Tuesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Espinal had a .643 OPS in 11 games with Triple-A Round Rock after inking a minor-league contract earlier this month following his release from the Dodgers. The utility infielder will now look to latch on with a new club.

  • Yankees' Christian Bethancourt: Catches on with Yankees

The Yankees signed Bethancourt to a minor-league contract Tuesday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Bethancourt had been at Triple-A Iowa in the Cubs organization before being released earlier this month. The 34-year-old is a career .229/.259/.362 hitter across parts of eight big-league seasons, though he hasn't seen any action in the majors since 2024.

  • Easton McGee RP | KC

Royals' Easton McGee: Recalled from Triple-A

The Royals recalled McGee from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

McGee made two scoreless appearances for the Brewers earlier this season before being sent to the Royals in a trade over the All-Star break. He's taking the roster spot vacated by the injured Beck Way (back).

  • Kyle Schwarber DH | PHI

    Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: Battling illness

Schwarber's absence from the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Marlins is due to a gastrointestinal issue, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Schwarber's omission from Tuesday's starting nine is notable since he rarely gets days off, so it's not a major surprise that he's feeling less than 100 percent. The veteran slugger should be considered day-to-day while Bryce Harper shifts to designated hitter.

  • Beck Way RP | KC

Royals' Beck Way: Sidelined by back spasms

The Royals placed Way on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with back spasms.

Way last pitched Friday as an opener versus the Tigers, and it seems he came out of that appearance with a back issue. His spot on the roster and in the bullpen will be taken by Easton McGee.

  • Braves' Elieser Hernandez: Back in majors with Atlanta

Atlanta re-signed Hernandez to a one-year contract Tuesday.

Hernandez elected free agency after being booted off Atlanta's 40-man roster this past weekend, but he's now rejoined the big-league bullpen. The righty will be available in long relief.

  • Connor Thomas RP | ATH

Braves' Connor Thomas: Optioned to Triple-A

Atlanta optioned Thomas to Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.

The move comes one day after Thomas was bludgeoned for 11 runs over 2.2 innings in a 78-pitch relief outing versus the Mets. His spot on the roster will be absorbed by Elieser Hernandez.

  • Blaze Jordan 3B | STL

Cardinals' Blaze Jordan: Exiting starting lineup

Jordan is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cubs.

Jordan had started each of the previous nine tilts, but he will take a seat Tuesday. Jose Fermin is handling third base and batting eighth for the Cardinals.
