Gonzales is absent from the lineup for Friday's game against the Phillies.

After starting 21 games in a 22-game stretch, Gonzales has now been on the bench for two straight for the first time since mid-April. It will be Jared Triolo handling the hot corner again for the Pirates.

Vest (forearm) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Friday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Vest was placed on the 15-day injured list with forearm inflammation earlier this month and started throwing off a mound again earlier this week. Assuming everything goes well with his rehab assignment, Vest should rejoin the Detroit bullpen next week. He has a 6.17 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 13:6 K:BB across 11.2 innings this season.

Seymour will start as the opener Friday against the Marlins, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

It will be Seymour's first official start of the season, but Jesse Scholtens is still expected to serve as the bulk reliever behind Seymour, according to Topkin. Seymour came up as a starting pitcher but has topped out at just 32 pitches in a single game as a full-time reliever through the first month and a half of the 2026 season.

Friedl is not in the lineup for Friday's game in Cleveland.

Friedl could be losing his grip on an everyday role. This is his second straight absence and the fourth across the Reds' last eight contests. Additionally, in his last start Friedl batted eighth after previously not hitting anywhere other than leadoff this season. Will Benson is covering center field and batting leadoff for the Reds on Friday. Friedl is slashing just .184/.268/.270 for Cincinnati this season.

The Tigers optioned Vanasco to Triple-A Toledo on Friday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

With Connor Seabold (ankle) back from the injured list, Vanasco will head back to the minors. He pitched in four games out of the Detroit bullpen, logging an unsightly 14.54 ERA, 3.23 WHIP and 3:4 K:BB across 4.1 innings.

The Tigers activated Seaboard (ankle) from the 15-day injured list Friday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Seabold is returning from left ankle inflammation and has been sidelined since April 25. He pitched in two games on a rehab assignment and is ready to return to the Detroit bullpen. Seabold has produced a 4.09 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 11:5 K:BB across 11 innings this season.

Manager A.J. Hinch said Friday that Mize (adductor) will be activated from the 15-day injured list to start Saturday's game against the Blue Jays, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Mize landed on the IL after he sustained a right adductor strain in an April 28 start against Atlanta. The right-hander made a swift recovery from the injury and will be cleared to return Saturday without having made a rehab start beforehand, but Detroit could look to monitor is workload a bit more carefully than normal. Prior to hitting the shelf, Mize had logged a 2.90 ERA and 1.19 WHIP while striking out batters at a career-best 27.3 percent clip across 31 innings this season.

Ruiz is absent from the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Orioles.

Ruiz still leads the Nationals with 23 starts at catcher this season, but Drew Millas has almost pulled even with him, as this will be his 22nd start behind the dish Friday. It's the second start in a row for Millas.

Nunez is not in the lineup for Friday's contest against the Orioles.

It looks to be a routine day off for Nunez, who had started each of the previous 11 games. The Nationals will roll out Jorbit Vivas at second base in Friday's series opener.

Manzardo is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Reds.

With left-hander Andrew Abbott on the mound for Cincinnati, Manzardo will take a seat in favor of Rhys Hoskins at first base. Manzardo has had a tough season at the plate, slashing an abysmal .203/.286/.288 with two home runs, 13 RBI, 10 runs scored and a 12:41 BB:K across 133 trips to the plate.
