Yankees manager Aaron Boone said on the "Talkin' Yanks" podcast by Jomboy Media that Lombard (knee) will remain out of the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Angels.

Nursing right knee inflammation, Lombard ran and took grounders pregame Monday and will likely do so again Tuesday, but he will be held out of the lineup for the third consecutive contest. Boone reiterated Tuesday that he does not anticipate Lombard requiring a stint on the injured list, though he didn't completely rule it out. The Yankees wrap up their series against the Angels on Wednesday and are idle Thursday, so it wouldn't be a surprise if Lombard is held out until Friday in San Diego. Jose Caballero has been filling in at shortstop for the Bronx Bombers.

The Cardinals selected Rincon's contract from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

Rincon has collected a 4.04 ERA and 88:31 K:BB over 71.1 innings this season at Memphis. The 24-year-old can provide some length in the Cardinals' bullpen and will be making his major-league debut when he enters a game.

The Cardinals recalled Bernal from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

Bernal earned the call-up after slashing .278/.363/.468 with 16 home runs across 101 contests for Memphis. He will join fellow catchers Ivan Herrera and Pedro Pages on the roster, but Bernal could receive the lion's share of reps behind the plate in September as the Cardinals look to see where he might fit into their plans for 2027.

The Cardinals recalled Scott from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

Scott slashed only .237/.320/.342 with two homers and 23 steals in 57 games after being sent down to Memphis in early June, but he did hit .270/.356/.360 with 13 stolen bases in August. The speedy outfielder could be used primarily as a defensive replacement and pinch runner in the final month.

The Dodgers recalled Freeland from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Freeland will give the Dodgers protection at multiple positions in the final month of the regular season. The 25-year-old has slashed .231/.309/.313 across 72 games during his time with the big club this season.

Atlanta transferred Suarez (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

The move frees a spot on the 40-man roster for Atlanta. It does not alter Suarez's timeline, as he's already missed more than 60 days of action. Suarez has resumed throwing off a mound as he works his way back from right elbow inflammation, and he should rejoin the Atlanta bullpen sometime this month, barring setbacks.

Tong will not be promoted from Triple-A Syracuse when rosters expand Tuesday, as Justin Hagenman (ribs) will be activated from the 60-day IL instead, Brian Murphy of MLB.com reports.

Tong did everything he could to prove he's ready for another crack at the majors in his most recent start Saturday, as he tossed seven scoreless innings for Syracuse while allowing just one hit and two walks with eight strikeouts. With the Mets out of playoff contention, however, they may have decided to let the 23-year-old right-hander build up more confidence before having him audition for a rotation spot again next spring. Over eight Triple-A outings since the All-Star break, Tong has a 2.20 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 44:20 K:BB in 41 innings.

Arrighetti is expected to be deployed as a bulk reliever in Tuesday's game against the Guardians, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Spencer Miles will open the game for the Blue Jays before Arrighetti assumes the bulk of the workload. Arrighetti has made one traditional start and one bulk relief appearance so far for Toronto, allowing seven runs (six earned) with an 8:4 K:BB over 7.1 frames.

Miles will serve as the Blue Jays' opening pitcher for Tuesday's contest in Cleveland, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

He's expected to be followed by Spencer Arrighetti in bulk relief. Miles has been on a roll lately, logging nine straight scoreless appearances with a 6:1 K:BB over 8.2 innings.

Lee gave up one run on two hits while recording just one out during Monday's loss to the Giants.

The southpaw took over for Bryce Elder with two on and one out in the sixth inning and allowed both inherited runners to score on a Turner Hill double, before a Bryce Eldridge single added a run to Lee's own ledger. Lee has been scored upon in three straight appearances and five of his last seven, and per Mark Bowman of MLB.com, he's concerned he may be tipping pitches. "It's just something I'm doing with my mechanics," Lee said after Monday's game. "They obviously see something. So I'm gonna just work on it, talk with our guys and get it cleaned up." Since the All-Star break, Lee has a rough 5.50 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 21:8 K:BB over 18 innings while picking up one win and 11 holds in 21 appearances.
