The Giants optioned Sanmartin to Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Sanmartin made two appearances for San Francisco, allowing three runs on three solo home runs. He'll be replaced on the roster by Matt Gage (knee) who was activated from the 15-day injured list.

The Guardians recalled Watson from Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday.

He'll be joining the big club as a replacement on the active roster for outfielder Chase DeLauter (rib), who was sent to the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Watson has showed an intriguing power/speed skill set at Triple-A this season, slugging 12 home runs and stealing 14 bases while slashing .255/.370/.491 with a 14.9 percent walk rate and 28 percent strikeout rate across 254 plate appearances. Capable of playing all three outfield spots, Watson could fill one of the holes in the Cleveland lineup that have opened up with DeLauter, Jose Ramirez (hand) and Angel Martinez (foot) all landing on the IL within the last four days. The Guardians will keep the 23-year-old on the bench for Wednesday's game against the Brewers, however.

The Giants recalled Whisenhunt from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Whisenhunt will start Wednesday's game in Atlanta in that will be his first outing with the big club this season. The left-hander holds a 3.65 ERA and 77:30 K:BB over 69 innings covering 13 starts and one relief appearance this season with Sacramento. Whisenhunt is serving as the 27th man, as the two clubs are allowed an extra roster space since Tuesday's suspended game was completed earlier Wednesday. The lefty will likely head back to Sacramento following the spot start.

Mize (2-4) took the loss against the Astros on Wednesday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk with three strikeouts over 4.2 innings.

In his first start since May 27, Mize threw 52 of 86 pitches for strikes while generating eight whiffs and allowing nine hard-hit balls. While some rust was understandable in his return from an adductor injury, the 29-year-old handled a normal workload and saw a slight uptick in velocity across his pitch mix compared to his season averages. He owns a 2.58 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 52:13 K:BB over 52.1 innings this season and lines up for a home matchup against the Yankees next week.

The Guardians placed DeLauter (rib) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Since his IL stint is retroactive to Sunday, DeLauter will be eligible for activation June 24, but a return in the minimum amount of time could prove to be ambitious for the outfielder after an MRI on Tuesday revealed a small right side rib fracture in addition to bone bruising. Cleveland recalled Kahlil Watson from Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move, but he'll be on the bench Wednesday against the Brewers while the Guardians go with Steven Kwan, Petey Halpin and David Fry as their starting outfielders. A clearer target date for DeLauter's return should emerge once he's able to resume full baseball activities.

Atlanta manager Walt Weiss said Wednesday that Acuna (hamstring) is a "long way" from returning from the 10-day injured list, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Acuna missed nearly three weeks of action in May with a left hamstring strain and landed back on the IL one week ago with the same injury. Because the strain is in the same spot, Weiss noted that the club will be more cautious this time around with the star outfielder. With the All-Star break less than four weeks away, Atlanta could choose to hold Acuna out until the second half.

Lombard sustained an apparent left wrist injury and exited in the fifth inning of Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's 3-1 win over Columbus on Tuesday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Lombard doubled and walked in two plate appearances before checking out of the contest after he appeared to hurt his wrist while trying to tag a baserunner. Yankees manager Aaron Boone didn't have an update Wednesday when asked about Lombard's injury, so the 21-year-old prospect can be viewed as day-to-day for now. One of the top prospects in the upper levels of the minors, Lombard has slashed .231/.381/.385 with four home runs and eight steals in 42 games at Triple-A since being promoted from Double-A Somerset on April 29. Lombard has made starts at second base, third base and shortstop since arriving at Triple-A, giving him multiple pathways to playing time if the Yankees decide to call him up at some point later this season.

Atlanta selected Camargo's contract from Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday, Chad Bishop of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Camargo will serve as a third catcher for Atlanta. The 26-year-old has a .581 OPS with two home runs and a 4:57 BB:K at Gwinnett this season.

Molina logged two innings Wednesday versus the Giants in the completion of Tuesday's suspended game, allowing a couple runs. Atlanta will add Carlos Carrasco as Molina's roster replacement.

Benintendi is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.

Left-hander Carlos Rodon is starting for the Yankees, so the left-handed-hitting Benintendi will be given a night off as the White Sox stock up on some extra right-handed bats. Randal Grichuk will step in for Benintendi as Chicago's designated hitter.
