Kempner was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday.

The right-hander fired 2.1 scoreless innings Monday against the Phillies and is being sent down Tuesday in favor of a fresh bullpen arm (Dax Fulton). Kempner has given up just three hits with a 10:2 K:BB across nine scoreless frames in the majors this season, so it should only be a matter of time before he gets another look with the big club.

Ruiz is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals.

It looks to be a routine day off after Ruiz started at catcher the last two days. Drew Millas will be behind the dish and will bat eighth for the Nationals.

Gasper (groin) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the Blue Jays.

He'll miss a second straight start after having started each of the previous seven tilts. Gasper is considered day-to-day. Connor Wong will do the catching and Masataka Yoshida will serve as the designated hitter for the Red Sox on Tuesday.

Triple-A St. Paul transferred Olivar from the 7-day injured list to the 60-day IL on June 4 while he recovers from a right knee sprain, Twins writer Brandon Warne reports.

The Twins haven't ruled Olivar out for the season, but he'll be on the shelf through at least the end of July while he recovers from the knee injury. After posting a .978 OPS at Double-A Wichita to begin the campaign, Olivar was promoted to Triple-A on May 20 and had slashed .259/.259/.556 with two home runs, two doubles and one stolen base in seven games for St. Paul before spraining his knee.

The Mets designated Brujan for assignment Tuesday, Chelsea Janes of SNY.tv reports.

The club claimed Zack Short off waivers Monday, and Short can essentially fill Brujan's role as a reserve. Brujan was called up by the Mets in early May but has played sparingly, accruing only 13 plate appearances in more than six weeks.

Triple-A St. Paul placed Mendez on its 7-day injured list Saturday due to a left shoulder impingement, Theodore Tollefson of ZoneCoverage.com reports.

After opening the season at Double-A Wichita, Mendez earned a promotion to Triple-A in early May and has continued mashing, producing a .321/.431/.468 slash line with four home runs and three stolen bases in 130 plate appearances for St. Paul. Assuming Mendez is able to move past the shoulder issue quickly, he'll have a shot at making his MLB debut at some point in the second half of the season.

Triple-A St. Paul reinstated Roden (shoulder) from its 7-day injured list Monday.

Roden is expected to play in Tuesday's series opener versus Omaha in what will be his first appearance for St. Paul since April 22. After being shut down due to a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder, Roden was cleared to rejoin St. Paul after completing a rehab assignment over the past two weeks, during which he went 5-for-12 with a home run, two doubles and seven walks in five games between the rookie-level Florida Complex League and Single-A Fort Myers.

Bennett is slated to start Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Currently in the midst of his second stint with the Red Sox of the season, Bennett has reached five innings in each of his first three MLB starts, but he's delivered poor ratios (5.28 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 4.6 K-BB%). He'll get another chance Wednesday to stake his claim to a more permanent stay in the Boston rotation, taking on a Blue Jays squad that has struggled against left-handed pitching this season (.292 wOBA, 27th in MLB).

Aldegheri is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field.

He'll be making a second straight turn in the rotation spot that previously belonged to Jack Kochanowicz (elbow), who is slated to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery in the near future. Aldegheri picked up his second win of the season in his previous start last Friday, working five innings and striking out four batters while yielding two runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks. Over five appearances (two starts) for the Halos on the season, Aldegheri owns a 2.12 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 12:8 K:BB in 17 innings.

Lugo (concussion) has continued to take part in a throwing progression since being placed on the 7-day injured list Friday, MLB.com reports.

Though a CT scan came back clean after Lugo was forced out of his start last Wednesday against the Rangers when he was struck in the head by a line drive, the Royals deactivated him a couple days later after he developed a headache. Since he's not being shut down from throwing, Lugo seems to be making good progress in his recovery, but he'll still need to clear all phases of the concussion protocol before the Royals activate him. Lugo would appear to have a chance at being ready to make a start at some point during the Royals' upcoming three-game series with the Cardinals that runs from Thursday through Sunday.
