  • Justin Fields QB | NYJ

Jets' Justin Fields: Work ethic standing out

Jets offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand said during mandatory minicamp in mid-June that his "biggest takeaway" regarding Fields this offseason is that "the guy is just a workaholic," and that "he comes in early, he's here late, and he's trying to digest everything and download all the information and do things the right way," Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.

Fields has made a positive early impression on Engstrand and new head coach Aaron Glenn, with new top wideout Garrett Wilson also saying at minicamp that "[Fields] trusts me, I trust him, we've got a good communication, we speak to each other well, we know what the other is thinking and that's key." The Jets are hoping the reunion of Fields and Wilson will pay huge dividends, with the two having connected on 66 catches for 1,031 yards and nine touchdowns over 22 games while teammates at Ohio State from 2019 to 2020. Rather than splash plays, though, Fields' focus this offseason has been to improve his pre-snap processing and ability to make quick decisions, and Glenn praised the 26-year-old signal-caller's progress in cleaning up mistakes during minicamp, saying the goal is "no negative plays." Rosenblatt also reports that Fields' early leadership has helped him earn the trust of the locker room. Fields is positioned to enter the first season of his two-year, $40 million deal with the Jets as the team's clear starter, and if he can indeed grow as a passer, he'll have a chance to prove himself as a long-term option for Gang Green. Even if Fields' development in the pocket falls flat, he possesses the rushing ability to provide solid QB2 fantasy value with upside as long as he remains the starter.

  • Aaron Rodgers QB | PIT

Steelers' Aaron Rodgers: Anticipates retiring after 2025

Rodgers said Tuesday on The Pat McAfee Show he's "pretty sure" the 2025 season will be his last in the NFL, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

"I'm pretty sure this is my last season and that's why we did the one-year deal," Rodgers said, referring to the contract he inked with Pittsburgh in early June. The deal includes $10 million in guaranteed money and carries a maximum value of $19.5 million, with no cap hit lingering beyond the 2025 campaign. Rodgers, who turns 42 in December, said there's "no better way" to finish his career than with the Steelers, a team that earned a 10-7 record and a playoff berth last season with a combination of Russell Wilson and Justin Fields under center. With improved quarterback play from Rodgers and DK Metcalf as the new No. 1 wideout, Pittsburgh appears well-positioned to make some noise in the AFC North.

  • Colts' Anthony Richardson: Expected back for training camp

Richardson (shoulder) won't need surgery and should be healthy for the start of Colts training camp, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Richardson did not participate in Indianapolis' minicamp that ended Thursday due to an AC joint injury to his right shoulder, and he sought a second opinion from Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who previously performed surgery to address the issue. The results of that second opinion appear to indicate that the 23-year-old quarterback does not need surgery and should be ready for training camp in late July. That's a major boost to Richardson's chances of opening the 2025 season as the Colts' starting QB, as newcomer Daniel Jones has ample starting experience and worked with the first-team offense while Richardson was unavailable during minicamp.

  • Jaxson Dart QB | NYG

Giants' Jaxson Dart: Working as QB2 in OTAs

Dart has typically been the second quarterback to mix in for the Giants at OTAs, behind Russell Wilson and ahead of Jameis Winston, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

Wilson is the clear starter, having taken all but a few first-team reps thus far, while Dart and Winston have been splitting second-team opportunities. Dart has shown impressive touch on his throws, but the rookie 25th overall pick is likely to begin his career in a backup role. The Giants could turn to Dart if they fall out of contention or Wilson struggles, and the team's difficult early schedule raises the likelihood of those scenarios.

  • Browns' Shedeur Sanders: Last QB to get reps

Sanders has been the fourth quarterback to get reps during mandatory minicamp, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.

Coach Kevin Stefanski has said not to read into the order in which quarterbacks are getting reps, and the team has used seniority to organize its signal callers to this point. That lands Sanders last in line, as Dillon Gabriel was selected ahead of him in the 2025 NFL Draft. Jackson did note that Sanders has looked decisive and has delivered the ball quickly and confidently.

  • Dillon Gabriel QB | CLE

Browns' Dillon Gabriel: Getting some first-team reps

Gabriel has gotten reps with the first-team offense and faced the first-team defense during mandatory minicamp, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.

As veterans, both Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett have been first in line for reps during minicamp. However, Flacco has observed large portions of the session due to his veteran status, allowing Gabriel to get valuable reps. Jackson noted that Gabriel has struggled early on in the practices but has gotten better as the days have progressed.

  • Joe Flacco QB | CIN

Browns' Joe Flacco: Mentor during offseason work

Flacco took limited reps during mandatory minicamp, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.

Flacco is entering his 18th NFL season, so extra reps during the offseason aren't necessarily all that valuable. He participated enough to help install the offense, but otherwise served as a mentor to Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel, helping them develop a cadence and study film. Flacco is expected to compete for the starting job during training camp and could realistically be under center for Cleveland's Week 1 matchup against the Bengals.

  • Browns' Kenny Pickett: Getting plenty of reps

Pickett has been the first quarterback in the warmup line and most drills during mandatory minicamp, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.

Pickett is getting the opportunity for a lot of reps due to a combination of his seniority and the lack of need for Joe Flacco to get reps as a seasoned veteran. Jackson described Pickett's performance as "unremarkable" and also said that the order in which the Browns' quarterbacks take reps has little meaning at this point in the offseason.

  • J.J. McCarthy QB | MIN

Vikings' J.J. McCarthy: No issues with knee

McCarthy has been participating in spring practices without any issues in his surgically repaired knee, Ben Goessling of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

Coming back from a meniscus tear suffered last summer, McCarthy resumed on-field work in January, setting him up for a normal offseason. As expected, he had no limitations during OTAs and then passed his physical at the start of June minicamp. With Sam Howell and Brett Rypien being the veteran quarterbacks on Minnesota's roster, McCarthy doesn't appear to have any competition for the Week 1 starting job. He's in a great situation under coach Kevin O'Connell, throwing passes to Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and T.J. Hockenson while playing behind one of the best offensive lines in the league. McCarthy also offers more running ability that Sam Darnold, who threw for a career-high 4,319 yards and 35 TDs in Minnesota during the 2024 regular season.

  • Will Howard QB | PIT

Steelers' Will Howard: Set to learn from Rodgers as rookie

Howard is slated to begin the 2025 season as the Steelers' No. 3 quarterback after the team signed Aaron Rodgers on Saturday, Jacob Punturi of SI.com reports.

After winning the national championship during his lone season at Ohio State in 2024, Howard was selected by the Steelers in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Rodgers and the Steelers had been continually linked in rumors during the offseason, but if a deal between the two sides hadn't materialized, Howard could have had an opportunity to compete with Mason Rudolph for a starting role. Instead, Howard will turn his focus toward a developmental role in 2025, but Rodgers said Tuesday that he plans to help the rookie as much as possible this season.
