Purdy was forced out of Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Eagles with a right elbow injury.

Prior to his exit, Purdy had completed both of his passing attempts for 19 yards. In his absence, Josh Johnson is handling the 49ers' QB reps.

Herbert underwent surgery to repair the labrum in his left shoulder Wednesday, but the team expects him to be cleared for the Chargers' offseason program, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Per Daniel Popper of The Athletic, Herbert popped up on the injury report with a left shoulder injury following the Chargers' win over the Rams in Week 17. Herbert finished the contest with 212 yards and two touchdowns but was replaced by Chase Daniel in the fourth quarter. Herbert didn't appear limited by the issue during the regular-season finale against Denver or the wild-card loss to Jacksonville, as he finished with 273 yards in both games and had three total touchdowns during that stretch. The third-year quarterback was an alternate for the Pro Bowl, but he'll sit out the contest and set his sights on preparing for the 2023 regular season.

Murray, who suffered a torn ACL and meniscus in his right knee this past December, is not expected to be ready for the start of the 2023 season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

At this stage, a precise timetable for the QB's return to action remains unclear, but Rapoport relays that it's his understanding Murray "is not going to rush, so do not be surprised if we don't see him to start the season or maybe even by the midway point. This injury has to heal perfectly." Either way, once he re-takes the field, Murray will be working under a new (yet to be determined) head coach, with Kliff Kingsbury having been let go by the Cardinals earlier this month. Meanwhile, veteran signal-caller Colt McCoy is under contract with the team through 2023, but it's possible that Arizona could add another quarterback to the mix this offseason, given Murray's situation.

Garoppolo (foot) has already been ruled out for Sunday's NFC Championship Game, but the quarterback left the possibility open of returning for the Super Bowl if the 49ers advance, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.

Garoppolo's rehabilitation from a broken foot has been progressing well -- despite his unavailability for Sunday's tilt against the Eagles -- with the quarterback's only limitation being his ability to sprint at full speed. The veteran signal-caller will need the 49ers to advance past Philadelphia on Sunday in addition to his foot fully healing before Feb. 12 for him to suit up again this season. If that scenario unfolds and Garoppolo is good to go for the Super Bowl, he would likely be the backup to Brock Purdy given the latter's success this postseason.

Browning was elevated to the active roster Saturday, Andrew Gillis of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

The fourth-year quarterback has yet to make his NFL debut, and it's hard to imagine he'd change that as the de facto No. 3 option behind both Joe Burrow and Brandon Allen come Sunday's AFC Conference Championship Game.

Garoppolo (foot) has been ruled out for Sunday's NFC Championship Game at Philadelphia, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Garoppolo had a small chance to gain clearance for this contest after suffering a fracture in his left foot Week 13. However, he underwent an X-ray on Tuesday and proceeded to sit out all three practices ahead of Sunday's contest. The 49ers thus will need to advance to the Super Bowl for Garoppolo to have a chance to be active again this season. In the meantime, seventh-round rookie Brock Purdy will continue to lead San Francisco's offense, with Josh Johnson backing him up.

Mahomes (ankle) doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Bengals after being listed as a full practice participant Wednesday through Friday.

Mahomes, who suffered a high right ankle sprain in last weekend's divisional-round playoff win over the Jaguars, had already been confirmed as Sunday's starter by coach Andy Reid, per Adam Teicher of ESPN, with the Chiefs' final injury report officially confirming that there's no doubt about the QB's availability against Cincinnati. What remains to be seen, however, is to what degree Mahomes' mobility might be impacted by his ankle issue, though Reid suggested that Kansas City's game plan has enough options in it for the team to tailor its play-calling around any limitations Mahomes may be dealing with come Sunday.

Tagovailoa remains in the NFL's concussion protocol and won't participate in next week's Pro Bowl Games, according to Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.

The report notes that Tagovailoa, who had been named a first-alternate Pro Bowler, hasn't experienced any setbacks, but the Dolphins are proceeding deliberately with the QB, with his long-term health in mind. Earlier this month, GM Chris Grier indicated that the franchise will approach the 2023 season with Tagovailoa as its starting signal-caller, based on the belief (via doctors the team has spoken to) that Tagovailoa's past concussions won't leave him more prone to head injuries going forward.

Rush completed 58.0 percent of his passes for 1,051 yards and five touchdowns with three interceptions over nine games in 2022.

The 29-year-old quarterback saw his most action yet in an NFL season, and Rush kept the Cowboys' year afloat by winning four of his five starts while Dak Prescott was sidelined with a thumb injury in September and October. Rush will be a free agent this offseason, while Will Grier is still under contract for another season, so it's possible Dallas doesn't bring him back in 2023. Given his success this past season, Rush could have multiple offers to sort through from teams looking for QB depth.

Mahomes (ankle) logged another full practice session Thursday, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports.

With back-to-back full practices under his belt, Mahomes remains on track to play in Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Bengals. As Adam Teicher of ESPN.com notes, the focus with regard to Kansas City's star signal-caller has gone from whether he can play this weekend to how effective he'll be while working through a high right-ankle sprain that he sustained in last Saturday's win over the Jaguars.
